Chapter 8: The System's Determined Good Person

Chapter 8: The System's Determined Good Person

Han Fei chatted with Li Xue for a long time with the idea that everyone was a "suspect", only to find out in the end that she was actually a police officer.

He stood at the door of the summons room, watching Li Xue's departing figure. He wasn't so desperate anymore; at least now there was a former criminal police officer willing to listen to him.

“Hey! Don’t be fooled by her looks. You’ll only be locked up for a short time here, but if you fall into her hands, you’ll be lucky to escape with your life.” Zhang Xiaotian gestured for Han Fei to follow him to another room.

Inside the small room, a middle-aged policeman was angrily holding the phone; this was the same officer who had just reprimanded Li Xue.

He had a dignified appearance and a deep voice, but Li Xue simply wouldn't listen to him.

"Captain Wang, calm down. She's a criminal police officer who has received two first-class merit awards. She's just here to experience life in our area. You don't need to hold a grudge against her." Zhao Ming quickly poured a glass of water and placed it next to the middle-aged policeman.

"So what if she's received two first-class merit awards? Does she even look like a police officer? If you don't want to work here, don't come here to slack off tomorrow!" The middle-aged policeman was still angry.

“If you really fire her, her parents will definitely send you a banner with drums and gongs. I heard that her family is quite well-off, and her parents have always opposed her becoming a policeman.” Zhao Ming realized that the middle-aged policeman seemed even angrier after he finished speaking, so he quickly changed the subject: “Captain Wang, this is Han Fei. I brought him here.”

Upon hearing Han Fei's name, the middle-aged policeman called Captain Wang finally stopped his tantrum and got into work mode: "Young man, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for so long. We have some questions for you, and we hope you won't hold anything back."

Han Fei had lived an honest and law-abiding life for over twenty years, and this was his first time entering a police station, so he was inevitably a little nervous: "Don't worry, I will definitely cooperate with your work."

With the rapid development of technology, police investigations are much easier than before. All citizens have their own information personality models, and computers can even predict how much potential a person has for crime.

In addition, many police officers' mobile phones are equipped with special lie detectors and case analysis tools. With the help of computers, the probability of wrongful convictions has been reduced to a minimum.

They talked for a full hour before letting Han Fei leave.

Whether through computer analysis or big data personality modeling, Han Fei was not suspected of committing the crime, and the system's danger rating for him was an extremely rare zero.

In other words, Han Fei was not only incapable of committing crimes, but he was also a truly good person.

At least, that's what the citizen information system thinks.

"Captain Wang, are we just going to let him go like this?"

“There’s nothing we can do if we don’t let him go. The police station doesn’t have the right to detain suspects.” Captain Wang looked at Han Fei’s citizen information on the table, his brows furrowing. “Our jurisdiction has been rated as the safest in the old city of Xinhu for five consecutive years, but this month such a big case has occurred. The evidence department still hasn’t figured out the cause of the fire. This matter is definitely not simple.”

"Should I go with Zhang Xiaotian to keep an eye on him?"

"Be careful, don't let him find out." Captain Wang put away all the information related to Han Fei: "In all my years as a police officer, this is the first time I've seen an adult with a danger rating of zero. I've heard my former teachers say that there are generally two types of adults with a danger rating of zero. One type is a simple-minded and kind-hearted person, but even such a person cannot maintain a danger rating of zero forever."

"What about the other type of person?" Zhang Xiaotian and Zhao Ming both gathered around.

"The other type is the most dangerous, cunning, and highly intelligent super criminal who is skilled in hacking and knows how to hypnotize himself." Captain Wang took a deep breath: "They are all masters of manipulating human nature and will stop at nothing to suppress their criminal personality. These people may seem harmless and innocent on the surface, but in reality, their hearts have been twisted and perverted to the extreme."

"Do you think Han Fei was that kind of person?"

"I'm not sure, but it's better to be safe than sorry."

……

Standing at the entrance of the police station, "super criminal" Han Fei held a loaf of bread he had just bought from a vending machine and muttered to himself, "Does the police station not provide meals after detaining people?"

It was almost 11 a.m., and Li Xue still hadn't replied to his message. After finishing his bread, Han Fei decided to go home first.

But before he could take a few steps, his phone suddenly vibrated.

Han Fei glanced at the caller ID and was quite surprised.

"Director Jiang, is there something you need?"

"Come to North Street in the old town at one o'clock this afternoon. I'm preparing to film a new drama. You can come and give it a try."

Han Fei was about to say that he had encountered some problems recently and was not planning to go to the audition, but the other party hung up the phone directly.

"Hello? Director Jiang?" Han Fei pursed his dry lips as he heard the busy tone on the other end of the phone.

"I can't laugh at all now. I'm no longer in the right state to be an actor."

Despite saying that, Han Fei still decided to go there in the afternoon. He felt that since the other party was willing to give him a chance when he was desperate, it would be disrespectful not to go.

After returning home, taking a shower, and changing his clothes, Han Fei hurriedly headed to North Street in the old town.

Shanghai is an international metropolis with a very large area. Its core area has been developed into a smart technology city, with towering buildings, numerous companies, and top talents from all over the country.

Compared to the core area, the old town appears somewhat dilapidated, retaining its appearance from many years ago.

"Is Director Jiang Yi here?" Han Fei arrived at North Street in the old city and was surprised to find that there were two film crews shooting here. One was a modern urban romantic comedy, and the other seemed to be a thriller crime film.

His previous works were all related to comedy, so he first went to the urban romance drama crew to inquire.

"Han Fei?" The staff member checking the actors' sign-in sheet immediately recognized Han Fei: "Weren't you fired by the company? Why are you here again?"

"Is this a production by the company?" Han Fei asked, somewhat puzzled. "Director Jiang Yi asked me to come here for an audition."

"Isn't Jiang Yi the director of our 'Urban Secret Love' production team? Have you come to the wrong place?" The staff member was just a low-level errand boy in the company. He sympathized with Han Fei's situation and therefore wouldn't deliberately make things difficult for Han Fei.

"Not Jiang Yi?" Han Fei knew the address was correct. Since Jiang Yi wasn't the director of this urban romantic comedy, then Jiang Yi must be in charge of another drama.

Slowly turning around, Han Fei looked at the gloomy residential building on the other side of the street. A poster was pasted on the tightly closed apartment door, with three blood-red characters written on it—"Flower of Evil".

"Is this a request for me to act in a horror movie?"

Thank you Esdreel for being the leader!
