Chapter 736 Analysis of Extraterrestrial Spaceships

After successfully landing on Mars, the two teams of astronauts began setting up cameras, planting national flags, installing various instruments, collecting soil samples, and mapping the surrounding terrain and geology in preparation for building a Mars base. The surface gravity of Mars is approximately 38% of Earth's, and its atmosphere is very thin, with an atmospheric density less than one percent of Earth's. The surface atmospheric pressure is approximately 500-700 Pa, about 0.6% of Earth's. The Martian atmosphere consists of about 95% carbon dioxide, 3% nitrogen, 1.6% argon, and very little oxygen and water vapor. Therefore, human survival and activity on the Martian surface requires wearing bulky, fully enclosed extravehicular activity suits or the assisted exoskeleton armor developed by Ruida Aerospace, which will affect work efficiency. Furthermore, it will be necessary to periodically return to the planetary landing ship for recharging and oxygen replenishment.

The live broadcast lasted for five hours, with the astronauts rotating twice during the spacewalk. In the following days, the planetary landing ship made multiple trips, transporting a large amount of machinery, intelligent robots, and building materials to the landing site. Thanks to the combined efforts of all the astronauts and intelligent robots, a small Mars forward base, covering approximately 1,000 square meters, was built near the Mars landing site in just three days. This initially met the needs of astronauts for long-term stays on Mars, conducting scientific research, prospecting, and experiments. Of course, this small Mars forward base is only the beginning of a massive Mars development plan. Subsequent projects include Martian mines, factories, agricultural bases, survival bases, and even a fully functional Martian city. If the plan continues, within ten years, the Martian surface will be covered with various artificial structures, and human footprints will have traversed every corner of Mars.

A week later, the fleet capturing the alien spacecraft wreckage successfully returned to Earth's vicinity. To prevent the wreckage from carrying unknown alien viruses and causing a catastrophe similar to the alien invasion in "Alien," the fleet did not land on Earth immediately but instead anchored temporarily in geosynchronous orbit. Upon learning of the fleet's return, the nation immediately organized a large number of experts and professors, along with a large amount of equipment, to travel in several spaceplanes from the Wenchang Space Launch Center to geosynchronous orbit to rendezvous with the fleet and conduct a comprehensive analysis of the captured alien spacecraft wreckage. This included analyzing spacecraft materials, collecting and analyzing biological samples, deciphering onboard equipment, excavating remaining data, deciphering alien script, and repairing the spacecraft's mainframe—all proceeding rapidly. Qiao Ruida was also invited to participate, playing a crucial role in deciphering the alien script and the mainframe. However, the wreckage was so thoroughly damaged that the information obtainable was extremely limited; our understanding of this known and certain alien civilization was barely anything.

After two months of research and data analysis, the following conclusions were reached: the alien fleet originated from the Sirius system, approximately 8.6 light-years from our solar system. These alien spacecraft use controlled fusion reactors as their energy source and large ion thrusters for propulsion. Their maximum interstellar travel speed is approximately one-thirtieth the speed of light, slightly better than the plasma-powered spacecraft previously developed by Ruida Aerospace, but far lower than the anti-gravity-powered spacecraft currently in widespread use. The large communication equipment used on the alien spacecraft is based on gravitational waves, with a maximum transmission speed comparable to electromagnetic waves. While its transmission distance and bandwidth might be slightly greater, it is far less advanced than the quantum communication systems commonly used in China's aerospace communication field. It is currently unclear how much information they acquired about Earth and how much they transmitted back. However, based on comprehensive analysis, this is not a major issue. The distance between the solar system and the Sirius system is too vast, and the transmission speed of gravitational waves is limited. Even if they collected detailed information about Earth and humanity and sent it all back to the Sirius system, receiving this information would take at least eight years. The aliens in the Sirius system would need a considerable amount of time to receive the data, make decisions, and dispatch a second fleet to the solar system via the interstellar portal. Given the rapid pace of technological development in China, in a decade or so, China's interstellar fleet would already be substantial, its various interstellar weapons upgraded to countless generations, and perhaps even space jump engines developed. Dealing with a small alien fleet would be no problem at all.

Analysis of several alien remains revealed that the aliens who piloted these spaceships had rather abstract physical features. They were generally around two meters tall, with lizard-like heads, sharp, protruding teeth, long, thin tongues, bright yellow vertical pupils, and their bodies mostly covered in bluish-gray scales. They had slender bodies, short, thick limbs, four fingers on each hand and foot, with sharp claws at the ends, and were capable of walking upright. Based on these physical characteristics, researchers named these aliens "Lizardmen." Based on their brain size, it is speculated that the Lizardmen possessed high intelligence and that their groups exhibited a high degree of sociality.

The writing system used by the Lizardmen is similar to the cuneiform script used by the ancient Sumerians on Earth; some characters even have identical shapes and meanings. Based on this, Joridar suspects that the ancestors of the Lizardmen visited Earth in the distant past, leaving behind some written traditions and ancient relics. Perhaps the legendary Sumerians were an ancient human branch that inherited some of the Lizardmen's knowledge. Unfortunately, the Sumerians did not carry on this advanced technology and knowledge, and were also unlucky, encountering various natural and man-made disasters, ultimately disappearing into the annals of history.

The Lizardmen have entered the era of electronic offices; almost no paper or other physical written documents were found in the wreckage. The alien spacecraft was severely damaged; researchers, despite their best efforts, only managed to repair some electronic equipment and the mainframe of a small landing craft. The database was severely depleted; no technological data was available, only partial remnants of the navigation logs and star maps, and fragments of the spacecraft's pilot manual and communication records. The amount of textual and graphical data usable for analysis was extremely limited. However, researchers still managed to extract some useful information, the most important of which was the coordinates of the entrance to the Sirius star system's starflow passage from the solar system. Currently, the China National Space Administration, in conjunction with Ruida Aerospace Company, has dispatched a joint expedition fleet to these interstellar coordinates to further investigate and deploy defenses along the starflow passage, and has also sent unmanned probes to the Sirius system to attempt to obtain information about the Lizardmen's home planet. Once China controls this starflow passage, it will open the gateway to the Sirius system, allowing for both offensive and defensive maneuvers, ensuring humanity's true invincibility.
