That’s right, in mythology, Dongfang Shuo was extremely courageous. He even dared to steal the peaches from the Queen Mother of the West, so Wu Cheng’en described this part.

The myth is called "Touching the Heavenly Peaches Three Times".

It is said that the Queen Mother of the West brought seven fairy peaches to celebrate Emperor Wu of Han's birthday.

Emperor Wu ate it and praised it highly, and even wanted to keep some peach pits in the palace.

The Queen Mother of the West said that the mortal world was a barren land and could not grow peaches. Finally, she pointed at Dongfang Shuo and said, "This guy has eaten my peaches three times, so he knows the situation."

This is the origin of the myth of "Touching the Heavenly Peaches Three Times".

Dongfang Shuo's stealing of peaches is not only recorded in Tang Dynasty documents, but also in Liu Xiang's "Biographies of Immortals" and Zhang Hua's "Records of Natural History" in the Jin Dynasty.

Therefore, Sima Chengzhen said that Dongfang Shuo was extremely bold.
