Chapter 1122 Summoning is a Trap!

"You... broke your promise!" The red-haired female demon sensed the change in atmosphere, her face instantly turning deathly pale as she screamed.

However, before she could finish speaking, a terrifying tentacle gleaming with cold metallic light shot out from the shadows beneath Wu Heng's feet, breaking through the barrier of the exorcism array and coiling around her body like a predatory python.

Before she could even struggle, she was completely enveloped and compressed by the powerful force. With a short, almost inaudible whimper, she was dragged into the shadows and disappeared.

Only a few wisps of thin black smoke remained, along with a faint smell of burnt sulfur in the air.

The exorcism array turned into a messy pile of salt.

"Continue." Wu Heng's voice remained calm, as if he had just casually tossed away a bag of trash.

Suppressing their complex emotions, the Winchester brothers began preparing for the summoning ritual once more. This time, they tried a different summoning incantation that was less targeted.

This time, a male demon appeared, hunched over, dressed in tattered clothes, coughing incessantly, and resembling a sickly drunkard.

It exudes a foul aura that makes one feel uneasy, and belongs to a low-level demonic species that excels at mental corruption.

After the same round of coercion and enticement, or rather, coercion without any enticement, the result of the inquiry was still that it knew nothing about John Winchester or the White-Eyed Demon.

Ultimately, its fate was no different from that of the red-haired woman.

Undeterred, the two brothers gritted their teeth and repeated the summons.

The third time. The fourth time.
In the middle of it, they even successfully summoned another male Crossroads Demon with a different appearance.

The Crossroads Demon belongs to a category, and there is a Demon King above it; it is not a single demon.

But the answer they gave was almost identical to that of the first red-haired female demon: John's contract had been briefly handled before being taken away by the white-eyed demon and its whereabouts were unknown.

With Wu Heng, their powerful backer, present, the Winchester brothers became bolder than ever before, mechanically repeating the process of carving rituals and chanting incantations.

However, after the fifth summoning ritual was completed and the incantation was finished, the three waited for a full half hour, but the summoning circle on the ground did not react at all.

Only the flame of the black candle flickered listlessly in the cold wind.

"What's wrong?" Dean kicked the earthenware pot on the ground in frustration. "It's malfunctioning?"

Unwilling to give up, the two brothers quickly switched to two other completely different demon summoning rituals. The materials were correct and the incantations were accurate, but the result was still lifeless, with no demon responding to the summons.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city.

Inside a long-abandoned, dilapidated house, several thrill-seeking young people are gathered around a makeshift magic circle drawn on the ground with chalk and an unknown red liquid.

They held a worn-out booklet, its pages yellowed and fragile, which they had found in the corner of the old attic of one of the boys' houses, and their faces showed a mixture of tension, excitement, and mischievous smiles.

"Quickly, quick, do it like the book says, drip blood, that's more exciting!" a young man with a nose ring urged.

Another, slightly bolder youth, grimacing, pricked his fingertip with a safety pin and dripped a few drops of blood into the center of the magic circle.

They imitated the tone of voices from horror movies, stumbling over the distorted incantation in the booklet, the meaning of which they themselves didn't understand. Then, they held their breath, waiting nervously.

One minute, two minutes, five minutes.
Apart from the howling of the wind blowing through the broken window, nothing happened.

"Tch! It's fake, I knew it was a lie!" The young man with the dripping blood broke the silence first, his face showing an angry expression of being mocked. He snatched the tattered booklet, threw it directly into a small iron bucket they had brought, poured in some alcohol gel, and lit it.

The flames engulfed the book that might have contained some forbidden knowledge.

The young people looked at the flames, seemingly relieved but also somewhat disappointed, and left the abandoned house noisily, deciding to find some other fun.

Just after their footsteps faded into the distance, several strange blood bubbles suddenly rose from the center of the simple, gradually dimming summoning circle on the ground, as if something was struggling to emerge.

A faint but undeniably present aura of evil began to permeate the air.

However, the blood bubbles only appeared a few times before being forcibly suppressed by an invisible force, quickly subsiding and drying up. The evil aura also disappeared without a trace, as if its signal had been cut off.

The summoning circle completely failed, turning into a few meaningless red stains on the ground.

Deep within the abandoned house, a faint, yet deeply disturbing, whisper lingered, gradually fading away:
"Damn it. I almost fell for it. What those guys in the city said was true. That madman is still using the summoning circle to fish for people. He's taken out five mothers in one go. Luckily, I'm well-connected and have good information. I got the information in time that the city can't respond to any summons!"

"What a lucky escape! He barely survived; that demon was terrifying!"

"Looks like I need to hurry up and move to another city!"

Those young people who left will never know that they inadvertently escaped with their lives.

What allowed them to escape unscathed was not their courage or luck, but a warning that spread from the depths of hell, driven by fear.

crossroads.

After trying all known and potentially effective summoning rituals to no avail, Wu Heng finally spoke again, breaking the silence.

“No need to try anymore.” His voice was clearly audible in the night wind. “It seems that this location, and the things we asked about, have already been ‘exposed’ on the other side of Hell.”

He glanced around at the empty surroundings, as if he could see through the prying eyes hidden in the shadows, now retreating in fear: "I estimate that now, no matter where you are in this city, no matter what kind of summoning you make, no demons will appear."

As Wu Heng predicted, no matter how the Winchester brothers tried afterward, they were met with only silence.

The lower-ranking demons of Hell have perhaps never been so 'slacking off', collectively refusing to be summoned.

The three of them silently packed their things, returned to the car, started the engine, and the headlights pierced the darkness.

"What do we do now?" Dean asked, gripping the steering wheel, his voice hoarse and tired.

“White-eyed demons.” Sam looked at the darkness rushing past the window, his eyes resolute. “We must start with them; they are the only clue.”

Dean slammed his fist on the steering wheel: "Damn it, but we don't even know how to summon those monsters! Lucifer's Royal Guard? Just the name tells you they're not to be messed with!" (End of Chapter)
