Chapter 1156 Sweep
Their opponent is a 'hate demon'.
It died tragically due to the betrayal of both its closest relatives and its lover. Its overwhelming resentment transformed it into a malevolent spirit burning with eerie blue flames after its death, lurking in this place and attacking any living thing that comes near.
The room was extremely hot, and the air was distorted due to the high temperature.
The demon hovered in mid-air, emitting a mournful howl, its body writhing in blue flames that scorched the ground black.
"Sam, suppress it!"
Dean let out a low growl, and the Colt pistol in his hand, imbued with the power of angels, was already aimed.
Sam's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly reached forward with his right hand, unleashing a surge of demonic power that transformed into several semi-transparent black energy chains, like living pythons, instantly coiling around the body of the Hate Demon.
The flames around the demon clashed violently with the black chains, emitting a sizzling sound, and its movements suddenly froze.
Now! Dean pulled the trigger.
boom!
A bullet, condensed with a faint white light, left the barrel and accurately pierced the demon's chest.
It wasn't physical damage; the bullet struck the spirit directly. The demon let out a painful shriek, and its body instantly became much more ethereal, almost disintegrating.
"Roar!"
The demon struggled violently, trying to break free from Sam's restraints.
Without hesitation, Dean gave his opponent no chance to breathe, put the pistol back in its holster, and drew the demon dagger with a backhand.
With a sudden burst of power from his legs, like a tiger pouncing on its prey, he charged towards the evil spirit with unstoppable momentum.
Humans and ghosts passed each other.
Dean's demon dagger flashed through the air, leaving a cold, dark streak, and instantly sliced through the phantom's throat.
laugh--!
As if a red-hot knife had cut into grease, a wound burning with black flames instantly appeared on the demon's throat.
Even more bizarrely, the eerie blue flames of resentment surrounding it seemed to have found an outlet, frantically pouring into the wound.
"Ughhhhhh--!" The demon let out a shrill wail as its body was ignited from the inside out by its own flames, the ghostly blue quickly turning into a charred black that represented utter annihilation.
Within just two or three seconds, it was reduced to a cloud of drifting ash in the intense burning, completely dissipating into the air.
After the battle ended, the temperature inside the factory quickly returned to normal.
Sam immediately took out the fist-sized, grid-covered metal sphere from his pocket—the life converter Wu Heng had given him—and placed it where the evil spirit had vanished.
Buzz.
The converter emitted a slight vibration, and the grid on its surface began to rotate and recombine as if it were alive.
The top bulges and deforms slowly, extending out a short, antenna-like crystal device.
The lingering evil energy in the air, as if drawn by an invisible force, transformed into wisps of black smoke, which were rapidly drawn into the antenna.
A few seconds later, the energy was absorbed, the antenna retracted, the grid stopped rotating, and it returned to its inconspicuous circular cube shape, except that there seemed to be a trace of barely perceptible energy flow inside.
"Next location?"
Dean wiped the sweat from his forehead; though tired, his eyes were bright.
Their increased strength made dealing with these monsters, which used to require a lot of fighting, much easier for them.
"We just received this information on the way here: a tribe of cannibals in the northern forest. The clue provided by the old hunter Jack is very reliable." Sam put away the converter, his tone grave. "He said the number might exceed thirty."
"That's wonderful! This will definitely be a feast!" Dean exclaimed excitedly. Searching for these monsters one by one was simply too slow.
Without delay, the two quickly packed their gear and returned to the black antelope.
For several days in a row, they were constantly on the move. With the intelligence shared by other demon hunters and the ample funds left by Wu Heng, they no longer had to worry about information and funding. They were extremely efficient, clearing out an average of three to four dark creatures every day.
They knew they owed Wu Heng more and more, and this debt of gratitude was heavy.
But they also understood that the most important thing at this moment was to accumulate enough life force to revive their father. This belief supported them to ignore their fatigue and travel day and night.
Inside the car, the two briefly took turns driving and resting, making the most of every minute to recover their strength.
Several hours later, the black antelope drove into a dense primeval forest.
Following the map given by old Jack, they ventured deeper into the area along a dirt road covered with fallen leaves, a road that had been untouched for a long time.
"Look over there."
Sam suddenly pointed ahead.
At the end of the road, in an open space, sat an off-road vehicle covered in mud, its tire tracks still fresh, but there was no one inside.
Dean got out of the car and examined the footprints, his brow furrowing: "The footprints are messy, at least five people. How did they fit in this beat-up car?"
He paused, then pointed into the depths of the forest: "Five kilometers ahead is the lair of those cannibals."
The two looked at each other and saw the vigilance in each other's eyes.
They quickly grabbed their main weapons, locked the car, and swiftly disappeared into the forest.
They hadn't gone far when they realized something was wrong.
There were messy footprints and drag marks on the ground, and broken branches that had been forcibly broken through in the bushes nearby.
After continuing for about a kilometer, a man's ribcage, mutilated and gnawed, suddenly appeared beside the path, its death gruesome.
Just then, there was a rustling sound from the bushes to the side, and a figure stumbled out!
Approaching us was a young girl wearing only a thin swimsuit, clearly having encountered an unexpected incident during some leisure activity.
Her body was covered in scratches and bruises, and her bare feet had been cut and bleeding from the dead branches and pebbles in the forest.
Her delicate makeup was completely ruined by tears, her eyeshadow smudged, leaving two dark tear streaks on her cheeks.
When she saw Sam and Dean with guns, it was like seeing saviors. She covered her mouth to suppress her sobs and pleaded in a trembling voice, "Help! There are monsters inside! Help me, I still have my companions, they've been captured."
Dean quickly stepped forward, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings, while reassuringly speaking in the gentlest tone possible: "Don't be afraid, we're here to help. You're safe now. Tell us what happened?"
The girl spoke incoherently, her voice choked with sobs.
A group of six people, three men and three women, came to explore the forest and accidentally entered the territory of monsters. Three of their companions had already been killed by those ugly monsters that looked like tall savages.
The remaining three were also separated during the escape.
Dean and Sam helped the girl back to the car.
Dean took two guns from the trunk, a pistol and a rifle, and handed them to the girl: "Choose one, stay in the car, lock the door, and don't come out no matter what you hear. It's safe inside the car."
Without hesitation, the girl chose the more powerful rifle, clutching it tightly to her chest. She curled up in the driver's seat, nodding with lingering fear. (End of Chapter)
