Chapter 1157 Resurrection
After settling the girl in, Sam and Dean turned again and headed deeper into the forest.
They were going to rescue anyone who might be, and to use these monsters as kindling to revive their father.
The two brothers quickly disappeared into the vegetation, leaving only the faint sounds of footsteps and the clash of weapons.
As they ventured deeper, the stench of blood in the air seemed to intensify, mingled with the smell of decaying primeval forest and a nauseating, fishy odor.
The two continued their investigation, following the drag marks and scattered bloodstains they had previously discovered.
After advancing one kilometer, he slowed his pace and scanned his surroundings with sharp eyes.
Just then, Sam suddenly stopped, crouched down, and used his dagger to push aside a clump of ferns stained with dark red dirt.
There were scattered pieces of torn fabric with trendy patterns, and a small piece of finger bone attached to a fingernail, as if it had been gnawed by a wild animal.
On the soft soil nearby were strange footprints, not human, with sharp toenails.
“They don’t waste any ‘food’,” Dean said in a low voice, his voice tinged with suppressed anger. “Looks like there’s another victim.”
These discoveries sank their hearts; it seemed the remaining people were in grave danger, and someone could die at any moment.
They quickened their pace, continuing their search following the footprints and the increasingly strong stench.
Finally, after passing through a dense forest covered with vines, the entrance to a cave hidden behind a huge rock came into view.
The cave entrance was piled high with animal remains and bones of unknown origin, and the stench was emanating from there.
A great deal of noise could be faintly heard from inside the cave, including the roars of monkeys and the bubbling sound of some kind of viscous liquid boiling.
The two exchanged a glance, and without a word, they tacitly positioned themselves on either side of the cave entrance.
Dean took a deep breath and leaned forward to look into the cave. The sight before him was enough to give any normal person nightmares.
Inside the cave, the space was quite large, with a campfire burning in the center. On the fire sat a large, crudely modified iron pot from the back of an abandoned car.
The murky liquid inside was churning.
The stew simmering in the pot made Dean's stomach churn violently. Several pieces of clearly human remains were mixed with some skinned wild boar carcasses, forming a horrifying hodgepodge.
Around the pot, about thirty goblins, resembling the legendary goblins but with the physique of adult men, dark green skin, and sharp ears and teeth, were excitedly hissing and jumping around.
Some were still stirring the 'food' in the pot with bone sticks.
For these monsters dwelling deep in the primeval forest, the delicate and tender humans who accidentally wander in are undoubtedly a rare delicacy, far more refined than those rough beasts.
In a corner of the cave, Dean witnessed an even more heartbreaking scene.
The bodies of the two young men had been completely dismembered, with their internal organs and some muscles removed, a truly gruesome sight.
This is clearly the origin of that main dish.
Anger, like magma, erupted in Dean and Sam's chests. These monsters had actually regarded humans as prey.
"Make your move!" Dean growled, no longer hiding his intentions.
He was the first to strike, raising his Colt pistol, aiming at a particularly large ogre with its back to the cave entrance, and pulling the trigger.
boom!
The bullet, imbued with angelic power, whistled out and precisely pierced the fairy's back.
"Ow—!"
The opponent let out a shrill scream, white smoke billowed from its wounds, and its massive body crashed to the ground, causing chaos among the other fairies.
Sam followed closely behind, pushing forward with both hands. The demonic power fused within him surged forth, transforming into several translucent black energy chains. Like agile giant pythons, these chains instantly coiled around the two goblins closest to the cave entrance, binding them tightly and restricting their movements. The battle erupted instantly.
The remaining ogres reacted, roaring angrily, grabbing metal car doors, bones, and metal bars, and surging towards the two like a tidal wave.
These guys are incredibly strong, incredibly fast, and overwhelmingly numerous.
Unless their bodies are ripped apart, ordinary bullet holes are not fatal at all.
Even if one person were to wield a rifle, it would be difficult to win.
Dean and Sam were back to back, surrounded.
Dean kept pulling the trigger, striving for accuracy with each bullet, shooting down the attacking fairies.
But with limited bullets, he quickly drew his demon dagger and engaged in a dangerous close-quarters battle with the approaching fairy.
The dagger flashed with dark light, each swing accompanied by a whistling sound, easily slicing through the fairy's tough skin.
Sam, on the other hand, made more use of his dark powers, his energy chains sometimes binding and sometimes lashing out like whips, breaking the goblins' bones and tendons.
He also wielded the Demon Blade, and the two worked together, so even in this situation, they were not harmed.
The cave was filled with the sounds of gunfire, clashing weapons, and the howls and wails of fairies.
The foul-smelling blood splattered everywhere, staining the rock walls and the ground a mess.
In the midst of the chaos, Sam spotted a figure wriggling inside a cage haphazardly bound with iron plates deep within the cave.
As he parried aside a cluster of steel bars mixed with cement blocks, he shouted to Dean, "There might still be survivors over there!"
Upon hearing this, Dean roared and charged forward, his dagger slicing through the throats of the two goblins blocking his path in two arcs, cutting a bloody trail as he rushed toward the cage.
Inside the cage, a young male survivor was huddled up. One of his legs had disappeared below the knee, and the wound was roughly covered with mud to barely stop the bleeding.
However, the person was already in a semi-comatose state due to blood loss and fear.
He was the only survivor among the six young people, apart from the girl in the car outside.
Or rather, the only 'half'.
"Hang in there, buddy!"
"It's almost over, you'll be healed," Dean shouted as he fought.
“Drive them into this dead-end alleyway next door,” he said again.
Sam understood and suddenly unleashed the remaining dark energy within his body, creating a powerful thrust that temporarily forced back the surging fairies.
Taking advantage of the situation, the two fought and retreated, leading the monsters in the direction Dean pointed out.
This drew the attacks from all directions to a single point.
The pressure on the two of them was immediately reduced.
In the end, these ogres, whose reason had been consumed by rage and who did not know how to escape, were slaughtered and looted by the two.
These monsters never understood, even in death, how these tender 'food' could suddenly become so strong.
Dean immediately took out the life converter and placed it on the ground.
He took a deep breath and guided the faint angelic power within him to activate it. (End of Chapter)
