Chapter 1250 The Expected Direction
It has little practical use; it's just a piece of mental debris. But as a remnant of its master Lucifer, it's enough to awaken the dark side of Jesse's demonic bloodline.
Just as things were about to spiral out of control, Dean and Sam were forced to retreat by the violent force field. Their angelic and demonic powers were like ice cubes thrown into boiling water, only intensifying the energy surge.
"Jesse, wake up!" Sam shouted anxiously.
But Jesse's pupils were now bloodshot, and he let out an unconscious, hoarse, demonic growl.
His pupils flickered between black and white and scarlet, as if in a broken frame, looking incredibly eerie.
At this critical moment,
The talisman that Dean had secretly brought, which was connected to the core of the manor's underground, vibrated simultaneously. Wu Heng, who was far away underground in the manor, sensed the crisis on the scene through the talisman.
"We have no choice but to use it ahead of schedule," he murmured, his eyes narrowing slightly.
A tiny, constantly rotating energy core, constructed from the residual power of the three rings of war, famine, and plague, was instantly activated before him.
This is neither the holy light of heaven nor the evil energy of hell, but a more ancient and essential force of balance.
At the same time, at Jesse's feet inside the church, a complex array of light emanated from the amulet that floated in Dean's jacket pocket.
The light array flowed like the aurora borealis, the red of war, the yellow of famine, and the green of plague, eventually merging into a chaotic gray-white.
An irresistible force of stripping energy, like a gentle yet firm stream of water, instantly surged into Jesse's body.
"Ugh--!"
Jesse let out a painful scream, but the scream contained more relief than anything else.
The fragments of Lucifer's will that had been eroding his consciousness were forcibly stripped away and dissolved from the depths of his soul under the cleansing force of this pure 'balance', like stains exposed to sunlight!
The terrifying crimson in Jesse's eyes quickly faded.
The violent energy around him subsided like the receding tide, and he collapsed to the ground, exhausted, only to be caught by Dean who reacted quickly.
Jesse gasped for breath, his little face filled with the terror and bewilderment of surviving a close call, as well as a hint of loss.
Fortunately, he was still young and his control over his 'desire for power' had not yet reached the level of an adult.
"What was that just now?" Sam stared in shock at the slowly disappearing array of light beneath his feet, feeling the aura that resembled his own power.
Castio's eyes were filled with disbelief: "This is somewhat like the power of the Four Horsemen?"
At this moment, Wu Heng's voice clearly entered the minds of everyone present through the amulet, especially explaining to Jesse: "Don't be surprised, this is just using the four rings, with the characteristics of 'conflict,' 'deprivation,' and 'mutation' they represent, to build an independent, balanced realm that is not bound by the rules of Heaven and Hell based on their power."
“Jesse, your power stems from loopholes in the rules, making you coveted by both sides from the outset. If you want true freedom, the only way out is not to side with either side, nor to blindly suppress or unleash your power, but to establish your own rules.”
"A realm centered on you, protected by the power of balance."
Jesse listened intently, not fully understanding, but he could sense that Wu Heng was right.
The first trial passed without incident, and with the help of the 'Balance Array', Jesse initially suppressed the restlessness of the demonic bloodline within him.
However, his control over his power was still clumsy.
Back at the manor, he stayed in the safe house, learning meditation from Sam and trying to feel his own power more precisely, like learning to tame a wild beast that could go berserk at any moment.
As time went on, Jesse became more and more skilled, when suddenly the encrypted phone in Dean's pocket emitted an alarm indicating the highest level of emergency.
He quickly pulled out his phone, glanced at it, and his face instantly turned ashen. "What's wrong, Dean?" Sam sensed something was wrong.
Dean turned his phone screen toward the crowd, displaying a blurry but recognizable live feed:
Mark and Katherine Turner, Jesse's adoptive parents, were bound with rough ropes and gagged.
They were locked in a cage burning with eerie green flames.
The background is a cave wall that appears to be made of skeletons and lava, and a hoarse voice comes through the screen:
“Antichrist, if you want these poor wretches to live, come alone to the Gates of Hell in the West City subway tunnel before midnight; otherwise, or if you bring any helpers, just wait to collect their corpses!”
"Remember, you are only allowed to come alone."
The scene stopped abruptly.
The water glass in Jesse's hand fell to the ground with a 'clatter' and shattered. His little face turned pale, his whole body trembled violently, and tears welled up silently: "Daddy...Mommy..."
The atmosphere inside the room instantly plummeted to freezing point.
"We have to save them!" Dean jumped to his feet, his eyes blazing with fury. "We can't let them succeed!"
Sam was equally angry, but more composed: "This is clearly a trap, Dean!"
“Lucifer knows that Jesse’s weakness is his adoptive parents. The so-called ‘Gates of Hell’ is definitely another entrance to hell. It must have laid a trap for Jesse to walk right into it.”
"Are we just going to stand by and watch those good people be tortured to death in hell?" Dean frowned. "They got involved because of Jesse."
Castio, who had been silent all along, spoke up, his voice heavy: "Sam is right, this is most likely Lucifer's conspiracy."
"His target was always Jesse. Using his adoptive parents as bait, he had a very high success rate in forcing Jesse into his territory when his strength was unstable and his mind was in turmoil."
“I think we should take a long-term view or try other rescue plans, such as contacting Crowley and seeing how hell is laid in wait.”
"Take it slow? By the time we've figured it out, the Turners will probably be decorations in hell." Dean quickly flipped through his contacts while glancing at Wu Heng. "That Crowley, that slippery fellow, is completely unreliable when it matters!"
“But sending Jesse now would be tantamount to handing him and his power over to Lucifer, which would be an even greater disaster!” Castio insisted.
The three men began to argue fiercely. Dean advocated for an immediate rescue at all costs, Sam preferred to find a safer option, and Castio was wary of Lucifer's trap.
As Jesse listened to the adults arguing and watched the frozen image of her adoptive parents' terrified faces on the screen, the pain and self-blame in her heart gnawed at her like venomous snakes.
He remembered how he had caused Amber's tragic death, the anxious looks in his adoptive parents' eyes, and the scene where he almost lost control and hurt someone in the church.
The source of all this disaster is his damned, uncontrollable power!
When he first gained the power, he was both apprehensive and excited, just like any child who dreams of being a superhero.
You can tell from Jesse's consistent fondness for Iron Man figurines.
But now, he begins to loathe and reject the power within him, which is exactly what Wu Heng needs.
He had figured out how to use the Four Horsemen's Rings to create a temporary balance, but this power was only temporary. Putting a power strong enough to destroy the 'Heavenly Army' into a child was dangerous and uncontrollable.
This is why he didn't protect Jesse's adoptive parents after rescuing them, although he did make some arrangements for them. (End of Chapter)
