Chapter 1251 Choice
Just as the argument was escalating, a voice, trembling with tears yet unusually firm, rang out, interrupting them:
"stop fighting!"
Everyone looked over and saw Jesse wipe away her tears, straighten her small back, and walk up to Wu Heng.
He looked up, his large blue eyes filled with a resolute sadness beyond his years.
“Mr. Lor,” Jesse’s voice was still trembling, but every word was crystal clear, “I don’t want this power anymore.”
Everyone was stunned.
Jesse continued, "It only brings trouble and harm."
“Ms. Amber is dead, my parents were arrested, and Uncle Dean almost got arrested too. If it weren’t for it, I would just be an ordinary child, and my parents would be fine. I would rather be an ordinary person who can’t do anything than have this ability that only brings disaster!”
He looked at Wu Heng with utter despair and pleading in his eyes: "Please, Mr. Lor, you are the president of the Witcher Guild, you know more. If you have a way, please help me take it away."
"I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of me."
Silence fell over the safe house. Dean opened his mouth, as if to say something, but found himself speechless.
Sam and Castio also fell silent. They understood Jesse's pain, but could this power really be given up so easily?
Wu Heng looked down at Jesse, his gaze deep, as if trying to see into the depths of his soul. Disappointment and sadness gradually surfaced in Jesse's eyes.
After a long silence, Wu Heng finally spoke slowly: "It is not impossible to strip away this power."
Hope instantly ignited in Jesse's eyes.
“However,” Wu Heng changed the subject, his tone becoming serious, “the cost was enormous, and the process was extremely dangerous.”
With a wave of his hand, the phantom images of three Apocalypse Knight Rings reappeared in the air, along with a gray dot of light that represented 'death' and was not yet fully formed.
"We need to gather the remaining power of the Four Horsemen and construct a temporary 'stripping array' to forcibly 'pry' this power, which originated from the imbalance, out of your very essence."
“This involves the soul.” He looked at Jesse with sharp eyes: “The most crucial thing is that throughout the entire stripping process, you must actively and completely suppress all your power, without having the slightest thought of resistance.”
"Even a momentary instinct for self-preservation can trigger a violent backlash from the power within your body."
Wu Heng's voice was calm and composed, striking a chord in everyone's hearts: "That backlash will first seek out the people you care about most and are closest to as your outlet. That is, your adoptive parents, Mark and Catherine. Their fragile souls will be torn apart in an instant."
"Can you, in the face of extreme pain, completely give up resistance for them and surrender your life and soul entirely to the stripping array?"
Wu Heng raised a question, and this choice fell on Jesse's young and inexperienced shoulders.
Should he venture into hell with uncontrolled power to save his adoptive parents, or risk the annihilation of their souls to try and peel away the source of this disaster? Jesse fell silent.
"You still have time to think it over. Although the demons have kidnapped Mark and Catherine, their goal is you."
"Your foster parents are safe until they completely give up on winning you over, but this also depends on Lucifer's emotions and patience; no one knows what he will choose."
As Wu Heng finished speaking, the atmosphere in the basement of Morrick Manor became as heavy as the deathly silence before a storm.
"Go to your bedroom and think about it yourself." Wu Heng told Jesse to go to her room and have some peace and quiet to think things through.
After half an hour,
In the safe house in the basement, Wu Heng used the dark red of the Ring of War, the earthy yellow of the Ring of Famine, the ghastly green of the Ring of Plague, and the phantom of the silver ring from the Death Knight that exuded a calming aura as the core to construct a complex magic circle with a diameter of about five meters.
The light flowed, emitting a 'balanced' fluctuation that was neither holy nor evil; it was the stripping array prepared to strip Jesse of his power.
Jesse, dressed in a simple white cotton shirt, lay in the cold center of the array.
His little face was tense, and his right hand was tightly gripping the red Iron Man doll, his knuckles turning white from the force. This was the last and most solid connection between him and the ordinary world, and between him and his adoptive parents.
He ultimately made his own choice.
The moment he discovered his problem, his first thought was to hide away, which revealed the child's character: he was willing to submit to whatever came his way in order to find peace.
But even honest people, when constantly pressured like this, will make a decisive choice.
As a child who had been given a 'weapon', Jesse did not choose to continue fighting. Instead, he chose to hand over the 'weapon' to the adults who could protect him when facing the enemy.
In Dean and Sam's view, this was actually the right choice.
They didn't want this child, who had previously lived a peaceful life, to follow in their footsteps. Witchers have never had a glamorous life, especially when the enemy is so powerful.
This is too cruel and too early for an eight-year-old child.
They respected Jesse's choice.
At this moment, Wu Heng walked over.
“Jesse,” he said, standing outside the formation, his voice calm yet carrying an undeniable power, “remember, no matter what happens, no matter what pain you feel, your will must absolutely suppress the instinct of power.”
"Think of your parents, think of every ordinary day under the sun, think of the life you truly want."
Jesse nodded vigorously, closed his eyes, and began to sketch in his mind the burnt cookies from Mark's father, the warm embrace of Catherine's mother, the ordinary swing in the park, and the new friends he might make at school—these were the ordinary desires.
It is his greatest weapon at this moment.
Meanwhile, outside the manor.
With the engines of the impala roaring, Dean and Sam had assembled a 15-man elite squad from the Witcher Guild. The members silently checked their equipment, the sounds of guns being cocked and blades scraping against each other filling the air with the smell of gunpowder and the tension of determination.
“Listen!” Dean jumped onto the hood of the car, his voice hoarse but full of power. “Our mission is simple—rush into that son of a bitch abandoned dock, bring Jesse’s parents back unharmed, and tear apart all the demon scum in our way, turning them into a powerful potion.”
"For the child!" roared a burly demon hunter, 'Ironwall' Mark, now a pillar of the guild. "For the guild!"
"For the guild!" the crowd roared in unison, their morale soaring.
Castio stood at the front of the group, looking at Dean and Sam with a complex but resolute expression: "I will try my best to hold off and eliminate the demon reinforcements on the perimeter. Be careful of Lucifer's traps." (End of Chapter)
