Chapter 1308 The Threat of Tearing Off Face

"What coordinates did he check?" Dean asked.

“A dozen or so, scattered throughout the Midwest, but there was one coordinate he checked three times.” Bobby paused for a moment. “Lawrence, Kansas, the address of an old house.”

Dean and Sam both froze.

That was their childhood home. After Mary died, John took them away and they didn't go back very often.

"What's he going there for?" Sam's voice tightened.

“I don’t know,” Bobby said. “But I just received a report from the outer patrol that a high-intensity angelic energy fluctuation was detected near the coordinates of Lawrence City, which is suspected to be the opening of a portal.”

Castio's expression changed: "Raphael."

Suburbs of Lawrence, Kansas.

The house looks much the same as it did more than 20 years ago. It has two floors, some of the white exterior walls are peeling, and the swing on the porch is now just a rusty iron chain.

The oak tree in the yard has grown taller, and its fallen leaves cover the lawn.

Dean parked the car two blocks away, and the three of them got out and approached along the alley.

“The energy reading is very high.” Sam looked at the detector in his hand, the pointer twitching at the edge of the red zone. “Not just one angel, at least five, all inside the house.”

Dean drew the Demon Hunter Blade. The phoenix coating on the blade had been reapplied, but the faint, dark red glow flickered in the dim light like breathing.

“Cassie, can you sense exactly who it is?” he asked in a low voice.

Castio closed his eyes and sensed, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper: "Raphael is definitely there, and so is Uriel, at least two high-ranking angels. The energy field is very chaotic; what are they arguing about?"

"Where is Adam?"

"He's still alive in the house, but his consciousness is very weak, possibly because it's being suppressed."

They went around to the backyard of the house. The gate was ajar. Dean pushed it open gently, and the three of them slipped into the yard, moving along the wall to a window.

Light and sound came through the window.

"This is the final deadline, Adam." It was Raphael's voice, cold and unquestionable. "The Apocalypse must proceed. Michael needs a vessel, and Lucifer needs a vessel. One of you brothers must make the choice."

Then came a younger, fearful voice, Adam's: "I said, what do these containers and revelation have to do with me!"

“Your bloodline is the bond.” Another voice rang out, it must be Uriel. “You possess the Winchester bloodline, which allows you to become a stable vessel, able to withstand the full power of Michael or Lucifer without collapsing.”

"So Dean disagreed, so you came to me, using my mother as a threat. Is this how angels behave?"

“I’m sorry, he refused, and we had no choice,” Raphael said. “He’s refused time and time again, so we’re using you now. A backup plan is always necessary.”

Dean and Sam exchanged a glance, and Sam made a gesture: I'm on the left, you're on the right, and Cassie is facing forward.

Dean nodded.

Sam went around to the left side of the house, Dean went to the right, and Castio stayed where he was, took a deep breath, and began to gather angelic power in his hands, not to attack, but to disrupt the energy field inside the house and create chaos.

Three, two, one!

Castio thrust out with both hands, and an invisible energy shock slammed into the house, like throwing a stone into a calm lake, instantly throwing the house into chaos.

"Who's out there?!"

"Energy interference! Intrusion detected."

Dean kicked open the back door and rushed in.

The living room was exactly as I remembered it, or rather, a poorly made copy. The furniture was placed correctly, but the styles were wrong; the photo frames on the wall were empty; there was no fire in the fireplace, only cold ashes.

Five angels stood in the living room, with Raphael in the middle, Uriel on the left, and three other high-ranking angels in a triangular formation. Adam was pressed down on the sofa, his wrists and ankles bound with glowing energy chains.

Raphael turned and saw Dean, his face showing no surprise, but rather a smile of triumph.

"Dean Winchester, he's finally here."

"Let him go." Dean pointed the tip of his knife at Raphael.

“Or what?” Raphael raised his hand and pressed down on Adam’s shoulder. Adam groaned, his body stiffened, his eyes rolled back, and he was clearly in pain. “You can try to attack me, but I guarantee his soul will shatter before you even touch me.”

Dean stopped.

Sam climbed in through the other window, raised his shotgun, and aimed it at Uriel. Castio also entered through the front door and stood next to Dean.

“Raphael, that’s enough,” Castio said. “Forcing humanity to become vessels is not the way to bear the power of Heaven.”

“Shut up, traitor,” Uriel interrupted him. “You’ve long since lost the right to talk about the rules of Heaven.”

“Then let’s talk about reality.” Dean stared at Raphael. “You want a container? Fine, release Adam, and I’ll be it.”

“Dean, no—” Sam tried to stop him.

“A smart choice.” Raphael smiled. “You let Michael possess you first, then Adam will naturally be released because he has lost his purpose. I won’t use such a useless human.”

His fingers tightened, and Adam gasped as if suffocating.

"It's time to make a choice, Dean."

silence.

Dean looked at Adam, his half-brother, whose face was filled with fear and pain, but whose eyes still held resentment. Adam looked at Dean with a complex expression, a mixture of hesitation and determination.

“I choose the third option,” Dean suddenly said.

Raphael raised an eyebrow: "Oh?"

“No one will be a vessel.” Dean stepped forward. “None of you five will leave this house intact today.”

"Arrogant." Uriel sneered, conjuring an angelic blade in his hand.

The battle broke out in an instant.

Uriel's Angel Blade pierced towards Dean, who dodged to the side. The Demon Hunter Blade swept across, the blade colliding with the light spear, sparks flying.

Raphael raised his hand, and a cage of holy light rose from the ground, attempting to trap everyone. Castio, on the other hand, clasped his hands together and unleashed a counter-energy wave, causing cracks to appear in the cage.

Sam fired, and the bullet, inscribed with a balancing spell, struck a high angel in the shoulder. The angel staggered backward, the wound corroded by a mixture of holy light and greyish-white energy.

The other two high-ranking angels attacked Castio from the left and right. Their weapons clashed, and Castio barely managed to parry, his trench coat being slashed in several places.

Uriel's offensive grew increasingly fierce, forcing Dean to retreat step by step.

"Dean!" Sam shouted, firing another shot to repel an angel, and rushed toward the sofa to rescue Adam.

Raphael waved his hand, and a wall of light blocked Sam's path. Sam crashed into it and was bounced away.

"The game is over," Raphael said, raising his hands high. Even more powerful holy light gathered in his palms, forming a constantly rotating energy field. "Since you refuse to choose, I will choose for you. I'll cripple one first, and the rest will obey." (End of Chapter)
