Chapter 1319 Confession
"Then what are we going to do to deal with an enemy who knows all our plans?!"
Wu Heng turned off the recording, turned around, and his face remained expressionless, as if he had just shown an ordinary weather report.
“Calm down, Dean. Anger won’t solve anything.” His voice was eerily calm. “Lucifer knows what Crowley wants him to know, and what I want him to know.”
"What do you mean?" Sam's voice was tense, but he had a more restrained rationality than Dean.
“Crowley is smart; he knows how to find the most advantageous way out in a desperate situation.” Wu Heng walked back to the main console and brought up another interface, which displayed a complex map and probability model.
"But he made a mistake. He underestimated Lucifer's control over him and overestimated his ability to conceal key information. He took the initiative to come to us, offering the coordinates and so-called 'cooperation,' but his real purpose was not to help us, but to pave two escape routes for himself."
He pointed to the map: "The first path, if we succeed, he can be a 'hero' and get the protection he wants and control of the new hell."
"The second way is that if we fail, or Lucifer finds out, he can blame everything on us, claiming that he was coerced or deceived, and may even turn around and help Lucifer against us to atone for his sins."
"The coordinates he provided may be real, but the information he gave about Lucifer's eating and power depletion may be real, but it must be withheld, or even misleading, with the aim of making us attack at the wrong time and in the wrong way, thereby triggering the result he most wants to see, such as a large number of witchers and Lucifer being severely injured, so that he can reap the benefits."
Dean and Sam listened, a growing chill running down their spines; the devil's schemes were always ruthless.
"So you just... told Lucifer about the conversation directly?" Dean still couldn't understand. "What's the point of that other than alerting Lucifer, making him furious and prepare in advance, and possibly even killing Crowley immediately?"
“First, completely cut off Crowley’s escape route.” Wu Heng’s eyes were cold. “Now that Lucifer has seen and heard Crowley’s ‘declaration of betrayal’ and ‘intention to cooperate’ with us, no matter what Crowley says in the future, he is already a traitor in Lucifer’s eyes.”
"He only has one path left to take, so he sincerely hopes we win, because if Lucifer wins, he will surely die, and any information he provides afterward will be much more reliable, since he won't dare to play any tricks anymore."
"Second, it misled Lucifer's judgment."
Wu Heng pulled up the previous video and marked several dialogues, especially Crowley's mention of Lucifer needing a container, Dean and Sam's resistance, and Wu Heng's response that 'the seal needs preparation'.
“Lucifer will see this, and he will think that our core plan still revolves around the two familiar plans of ‘container’ and ‘sealing’. He will focus his attention on Sam and how to prevent us from using the cage or some kind of seal. He will think that he has seen through our trump card.”
Wu Heng paused, looked at Dean and Sam, and a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.
"But what he didn't know was that I never intended to seal Sam away with him from the very beginning."
There was dead silence in the room.
"So what are you going to do?" Sam's voice was as soft as a whisper.
“I will invite him.” Wu Heng’s gaze shifted to the four ring energy models floating in the center of the room, where a grayish-white balancing force began to slowly flow. “Invite him into the new home I’ve prepared for him in the real world, then close the door and banish him.” He looked at the two brothers, his tone still calm, yet carrying an undeniable resolve:
“Crowley is a pawn. I’ve placed him in a position more advantageous to us. The information Lucifer is currently receiving is bait that I’ve carefully selected and fed to him. He’ll focus his attention in the wrong direction, while the real trap lies ahead.”
He reached out and lightly touched the four illusory rings whose light was gradually increasing.
"It's ready."
The energy fluctuations in the basement suddenly intensified, the runes on the walls lit up one after another, and the explosions on the distant battlefield seemed to be suppressed by some invisible force.
Dean and Sam exchanged a glance, both seeing shock and a glimmer of hope rekindled in each other's eyes amidst their dire situation.
Lor was neither a witcher like their father nor a mentor like Bobby. To Sam and Dean, he was like a chess player, and the game on the chessboard had now entered its final, deadly phase.
This made the two of them nervous, but also excited, as they saw hope for ending this chaotic war.
The hum of energy in the basement muffled Dean's rapid breathing. He stared at Wu Heng, trying to find even the slightest flaw in that calm, expressionless face.
Madness, hesitation, or at least a desperate gamble.
But no, Lorre spoke with unwavering confidence, as if stating a proven physical law.
"You thought of that all along?" Dean's voice was a little hoarse, filled with disbelief. "You thought Crowley would come, you thought he would say those things, you even thought he would propose a 'cooperation plan' like having Sam act as a vessel?"
“It’s not about thinking,” Wu Heng corrected, swiping his finger across the console to bring up another set of data streams, “it’s about deduction. Crowley’s behavior patterns, the desperate situation he faces, his greed and survival instincts, and the value of the intelligence he possesses. All these factors are input into the model, which will yield several high-probability behavioral options.”
"Taking the initiative to contact us and provide cooperation and intelligence is one of the most likely and advantageous options for him."
He looked at Sam, a subtle, complex emotion flickering in his eyes.
"As for the container plan, it does have a chance of success. If Sam accepts Lucifer willingly or unwillingly, the Apocalypse will be activated, and the script will proceed as originally planned. Crowley, as the facilitator, can occupy a stable position in the new order. This may even be the plan he prefers most deep down. However, he knows that I will not accept it, so he did not say it outright, but used 'intelligence cooperation' as a more feasible bait."
Sam felt a tightness in his throat.
That chilling feeling of being used as a bargaining chip and manipulated by all sides returned, more unsettling than the whispers of the devil.
"So if we actually believe him, prepare according to his intelligence, and target Lucifer's so-called weaknesses," Dean continued, his face grim, "the result might be that we step by step walk into his real trap, ultimately being forced down that old path of the 'vessel'?" (End of Chapter)
