Chapter 1321 Waiting
“Analysis of the data shows that Michael is a good student and a loyal executor,” Wu Heng analyzed. “The core driving force behind all his actions is to satisfy his ‘father’ and perfectly execute his father’s will, or rather, his understanding of his father’s will.”
"He believed that the Apocalypse was a script set by God, so his highest task was to make the Apocalypse go smoothly. Any factor that might disrupt the script of the Apocalypse was his enemy. He also believed that Lucifer had disobeyed God's will, and he wanted to punish this disobedient brother in place of his father."
"And what is Lucifer doing now?"
Wu Heng pointed at the overwhelming demons: "He's massively invading the real world, attempting to prematurely cleanse humanity with brute force. This deviates from the 'elegant' setting of the duel between the agents in the Apocalypse script. More importantly..."
He then pointed to the cursor traces left after the message was sent, “Lucifer knows that the traitor Crowley and we are trying to sabotage Apocalypse, and that we are using the container as bait.” In Michael’s view, this already constitutes a direct threat to the script of Apocalypse, because he also knows Lucifer and knows that Lucifer will definitely come.
“I understand, so Michael must stop Lucifer.”
Dean reacted even faster this time. "He's not doing this to help us, but to uphold that damn script. After learning that Lucifer might take extreme actions, he has to intervene and make sure that Lucifer doesn't unilaterally obtain the possibility of 'Sam' as a vessel!"
“Yes.” Wu Heng closed all the files.
The room was once again filled with the glow of the ring model and the shimmering light of the runes on the walls.
“I’m sending the information to them at the same time, not by self-destruction, but by planting a bomb between them that is bound to explode. Lucifer’s pride and arrogance will drive him to step onto the stage I’ve prepared for him and he will tend to ‘solve’ the problem alone and prove his power to everyone. Michael’s sense of duty and dedication to the script will drive him to ‘correct’ Lucifer’s overstepping his bounds and ensure that the Apocalypse process is not disrupted.”
He turned around to face Dean and Sam, a grayish-white balancing force subtly flowing around him, making him look like a statue forged from mist and will.
"They won't join forces against us, at least not immediately. Their primary targets will be each other: one to destroy the trap and demonstrate power, the other to maintain order and execute the script. And as they collide, entangle, and exhaust each other on this stage I've carefully chosen..."
Wu Heng's gaze fell back on the four rings, whose light was growing brighter and brighter and which had begun to slowly rotate along some mysterious trajectory.
"...that is, when the door is closed."
The air in the basement seemed to freeze, with only the hum of energy flow and the almost inaudible spatial tremors caused by the spinning ring.
Dean and Sam stood there, looking at Wu Heng, at the spinning ring, and at the layers of dazzlingly complex balancing runes that lit up on the wall.
They suddenly understood.
This is not a battle of brute force; it is a game of chess, a game with the world as the chessboard, the kings of angels and demons as the pieces, and the survival of humanity as the stake.
And Lor was calmly taking his last few steps.
He not only outmaneuvered Crowley, but also Lucifer's pride and Michael's stubbornness, turning the weaknesses of his enemies into the gears that propelled his plan forward.
Sam felt a chill, but within that chill was a strange, unwavering warmth—the feeling of seeing true hope. It wasn't a fluke, nor a compromise, but a real path built on cold calculations and absolute determination.
Dean took a deep breath, and the pain in his ribs seemed to lessen a bit.
He looked at Wu Heng, the doubt and panic in his eyes had faded, replaced by the sharpness of a warrior who had finally seen a clear objective after a bloody battle.
Then he burst out laughing: "Looks like that cunning and treacherous Crowley is going to be in trouble."
"If he were to go back to hell at this time, he would probably be torn to pieces by Lucifer."
Dean had no goodwill towards this Crossroads Demon King, the one who had once controlled the souls of his father and mother. Even though they had cooperated before, it was for mutual purposes.
He knew deep down that the other party was an evil demon, the one who had killed the Witcher a few days ago and would not hesitate to wield a butcher's knife against humans.
Sam was also happy about this.
Wu Heng shook his head slightly: "He will not go back to hell."
"Huh? Why?" Dean was stunned.
"Because he probably guessed this outcome. Crowley is a coward, the kind of guy who is often unwilling to take too many risks. Maybe he's hiding in some unknown cave right now, but he'll never go back to Lucifer's side."
Wu Heng's words stunned Dean.
"Fuck, what a bunch of insidious guys." Dean couldn't help but mutter, then paused, as if he had thought of something, and glanced at Wu Heng, "Uh, I'm not talking about you, of course you're not included."
Wu Heng silently stared at him.
“Uh, I mean we’re righteous, that’s called wisdom,” Dean added with a dry laugh, nudging Sam. “You agree?”
Sam nodded in agreement.
Wu Heng didn't say anything more and turned his head back to watch the demon attack footage on the screen.
"What do you need us to do?" Seeing that Wu Heng didn't seem to care, Dean's voice returned to its usual rough and direct tone.
Wu Heng pointed to the area around the guild headquarters that was contaminated by the 'Cage Scar' on the holographic map, and the defensive line where fierce fighting was taking place further away.
“Wait here quietly,” he said calmly. “They are fighting, delaying, and guiding the battle. The commotion here will draw Lucifer’s attention here, and Michael’s gaze as well. When two stars collide here…”
Before he could finish speaking, the basement lights suddenly flickered violently, and the explosions coming from afar suddenly became more frequent and closer.
A massive, ancient pressure, carrying the smell of scorching sulfur and boundless rage, like a tangible tsunami, began to sweep in from the horizon, easily piercing through the thick fortifications and energy barriers, pressing down on the hearts of every demon hunter.
Lucifer has arrived.
Wu Heng's eyes remained unchanged, but the speed of the four spinning rings suddenly increased.
“The stage is ready,” he said softly, as if announcing the opening of a performance. “The actors are about to enter; it’s time.”
The conference room on the seventh basement level was unusually ordinary.
A rectangular table, a dozen or so chairs, and a faded map of Kansas hanging on the wall.
The only unusual thing is that there are no windows, only a few LED lights embedded in the ceiling, emitting a steady but not very bright light.
This world is different from the outside world, filled with high-tech monitoring screens and energy runes. (End of Chapter)
