Chapter 1112 Shengnan 44
Jin Jue didn't bring up what had just happened, and Jiang Shengnan's unease gradually dissipated. In addition, Jin Jue was a food enthusiast, and he had his own insights when talking to Jiang Shengnan about fruit wine making.

Jiang Shengnan affixed a label to the glass bottle: "The first wine I've ever brewed by hand, I'm going to take it home and treasure it."

Jin Jue then suggested a new activity: "There's a wine cellar in the resort. Would you like to take a look? You can bring a few bottles back with you."

Jiang Shengnan was somewhat intrigued: "Fruit wine, isn't it generally low in alcohol content?"

She does have a habit of having a drink, but because Tan You doesn't drink outside, Jiang Shengnan rarely drinks outside these days either. But if she were to bring it home to drink, Jiang Shengnan was indeed tempted.

Jin Jue's smile deepened: "Generally speaking, that's how it is. There's also some wine I brewed myself before, made with high-proof liquor. Would you like to try some?"

Jiang Shengnan was indeed intrigued. Someone as picky about food as Jin Jue must have some good wine brewed by himself, right?

"Then I want to take a look."

When He Jiahui and the others returned to the restaurant, Jiang Shengnan and Jin Jue were already sitting there. Because of the fruit wine they had drunk in the wine cellar, Jiang Shengnan's face was a little red, but she was still quite lucid.

Jin Jue sat beside her, leisurely sipping his tea. The two occasionally whispered to each other, and compared to their previous distance, they seemed closer now, more like friends.

Upon seeing He Jiahui, Jiang Shengnan couldn't help but smile: "Please sit down. Where have you been? We were just about to call you."

He Jiahui sat down next to Jiang Shengnan: "Jiang Jiang, you look even more beautiful after drinking. Even the best blush can't give you this complexion."

Everyone says a woman is most beautiful when she's slightly tipsy. He Jiahui didn't believe it before, but now she's convinced. Jiang Shengnan is usually so calm; she's never seen her show any other expression.

But now, a thin blush spread across her cheekbones, like peaches hanging on a branch, tempting someone to take a bite. And He Jiahui did just that; after settling down, she hugged Jiang Shengnan and gave him two passionate kisses.

Jin Jue, who was holding a teacup, paused for a moment, thinking that He Jiahui was really an eyesore at that moment.

Jiang Shengnan pushed He Jiahui's cheek away: "You smell like peaches, how much did you eat? It just got on my face, it'll be fine in a bit. Where did you guys go?"

Summer, innocent and guileless: "Let's go pick peaches."

Afraid that she would reveal what they had witnessed, He Jiahui quickly changed the subject: "Jiangjiang, don't you usually not drink outside? Why are you drinking now?"

Jiang Shengnan sighed: "President Jin took me to visit the wine cellar of the manor. There are wines he brewed before. I tasted a small glass. I just didn't expect the alcohol content to be so high."

Xu Yuan knows a little: "Boiling fruit wine requires high-proof liquor."

Jin Jue poured tea for Jiang Shengnan: "It was my fault for not making things clear beforehand. I apologize to you."

“I didn’t drink that much,” Jiang Shengnan said, not one to hold grudges. “There’s no need for apologies. Your fruit wine is really good. You said it was made with high-proof liquor; I just didn’t notice.”

"I'll be fine in a bit. What are everyone's plans for this afternoon?"

He Jiahui spoke first: "I saw some small boats in the villa. Shall we go for a boat ride this afternoon? We can go see the lotus flowers then."

Jiang Shengnan didn't care what they did: "Sure, there are fresh lotus seeds available now, so we can take some back with us."

“Lotus leaves can be used to make delicious food. Can we have lotus leaf chicken or lotus flower soup tonight?” Jin Jue couldn’t help but smile. He discovered a common point between himself and Jiang Shengnan: they were both passionate about food.

Just as Jiang Shengnan said, her slight intoxication from lunch dissipated halfway through. She did want to go boating on the lake in the afternoon, but Jiang Shengnan hadn't expected her to get seasick.

She had only been on the boat for less than a minute when her face turned deathly pale. The boat quickly docked, and Jin Jue helped her sit down on the shore: "Are you alright?"

Jiang Shengnan felt tightness in her chest and shortness of breath, and her hands were trembling violently. She took a sip of water from Jin Jue's hand and still had the energy to joke: "I'll be fine in a little while. I didn't expect to get seasick. It was my first time on a boat, and I didn't expect it to turn out like this. I'm sorry to spoil everyone's fun."

Looking at Jiang Shengnan's pale face, Jin Jue couldn't manage a smile: "Are you really alright? Why don't you go back to your room and rest for a while?"

"No need, I'll just sit for a while." Jiang Shengnan looked around and said, "You guys go have fun, I'll wait for you here."

Standing on the boat, He Jiahui couldn't hide her worry: "Are you really alright? Should we come with you?"

"No need," Jiang Shengnan said, feeling more grounded and recovered somewhat. "You guys go have fun, Mr. Jin, you should come too. I'm much better now."

"I'll stay with you," Jin Jue said calmly, but her tone was very assertive. "I won't leave you alone."

Jiang Shengnan's heart skipped a beat. She glanced at Jin Jue, then waved to everyone: "Go have fun, have a good time."

The small boat disappeared into the depths of the lotus flowers. Jin Jue sat down on the bench next to Jiang Shengnan: "Have you always been so considerate of those around you? Why don't you take better care of yourself?"

Jiang Shengnan remained silent for a long time before smiling and saying, "I've never had the chance to ride a boat before, but I'm actually quite good at taking care of myself."

She thought of her past experiences. Jiang Shengli, that useless guy, could go to the park to swim in the lake every weekend, or go on spring outings with his classmates, but she had nothing.

Ironically, the boat ticket for the lake only cost a few cents, but Jiang's parents never paid for it. So, from childhood to adulthood, Jiang Shengnan truly didn't know she was seasick.

Jin Jue looked at Jiang Shengnan. She was smiling, but she was surrounded by sadness.

Jiang Shengnan noticed his gaze: "Are you pitying me?"

“No,” Jin Jue said softly, “You’re so outstanding now, why would you need anyone’s pity?”

Jiang Shengnan slightly curled the corners of her lips: "You're right, it's just seasickness, nothing to worry about."

She has fully recovered now and no longer wants to stay on the shore. Instead, she gets up and walks towards the water bar: "I'm going to sit at the water bar for a while. Mr. Jin, would you like to go back or stay here?"

Jin Jue followed her: "Let's go together. There's a pool hall next to the water bar. Shall we go play a couple of rounds?"

Jiang Shengnan smiled as she recalled her past experience as a part-time gaming companion: "Okay, but I haven't played in a long time, so please don't be offended if I'm too bad at it, Mr. Jin."

She's now afraid of being alone. Only when she's immersed in a larger environment does Jiang Shengnan feel like she won't be overwhelmed by negative emotions. She's accepted that she's not loved, but when she thinks back, she still feels resentful.

She was unwilling to accept that she was superior to Jiang Shengli in every way, so why couldn't her parents see her? Parents should love and care for their children, but these were things she longed for but could not obtain, which was quite sad.
