The Best Actor in the Vase of Meiyu

Chapter 1762 It’s a matter of course
It is often said that the charm of film lies in repeated shooting and refinement, finding the most perfect artistic expression through repeated revisions and restarts; while the charm of the theatrical stage lies in improvisation. After countless rehearsals and practice sessions, the moment one steps onto the stage, one surrenders one's soul to instinct, creating completely different sparks in each performance. Those subtle differences are the essence of live performance.
Now, however, they are experiencing the charm of the theatrical stage on the set of "The Hangover." To some extent, the sparks generated by the collision of film and drama are giving "The Hangover" a unique character.
This was undoubtedly a surprise.
Eva, standing nearby, couldn't help but exclaim, "It seems that Mike Tyson was a stroke of genius."
Anson looked at Eva and said, "Believe me, you are too."
A smile naturally appeared in Eva's eyes as she gently raised her chin. "Then I'll look forward to it."
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted, "I think I heard my name?"
That deep, rough voice belonged to Mike Tyson. After leaving the filming room, the boxing champion had finally returned, along with Faleoro, of course.
The group exchanged glances, reaching a tacit consensus, a knowing smile playing on their lips. There was no need to tell Mike Tyson everything they had discussed.
Eva understood, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, her smile settling into her eyes.
Eva arrived in Las Vegas in a hurry and joined the crew at the last minute, relying entirely on her trust in Anson, having no idea about the script, the character, the filming, or the director.
Moreover, Anson immediately said that it all depended on "improvement on the spot," which was like adding uncertainty to uncertainty. Eva was completely dumbfounded and had no idea where to start.
But now, after today's scene, Eva finally understands the meaning of "improvisation," breaking down the fourth wall in reverse, letting reality shine into the film, the fusion of actor and role, the collision of reality and plot, relying on her own understanding and inspiration for secondary creation, like a brainstorming session anticipating the unknown—
It's a movie, and it's also a play.
For Eva, this was undoubtedly a surprise. She loves theater, she is passionate about theater, and she hopes to create sparks with her characters during the performance. She looks forward to interacting with her co-stars and the audience during the performance.
But she knew that theater was theater and film was film; the same acting job was done in two different systems, and she needed to remain patient and clear-headed.
However, the opportunity just happened. It was slightly different from what I expected, but it was definitely a completely new experience, opening a door to a whole new world.
Excited!
Indeed, Anson is trustworthy. If "Spider-Man" can be a coming-of-age story, then why can't "The Hangover" be a comedic attempt?
Without even realizing it, Eva began to rub her hands together, eager and excited for the upcoming shoot.
She wasn't sure what kind of chemistry she and the character would have, or what kind of interactions she would have with the other actors, but behind this uncertainty was her trust in Anson. She believed that her group of friends would work together to complete the project and might even bring surprises to the audience.
interesting!
It’s really interesting!
Eva has little acting experience; "The Hangover" is only her third official film. But she has been in Hollywood long enough and heard enough rumors that she believes no crew can go as crazy as they do. More importantly, behind the madness lies an infinite possibility.
How could all those unknowns, anxieties, and trepidations become part of the film?
Just imagining it makes my heart race and my blood boil!
In a fleeting glance, Mike Tyson was back in sight. "So, how did the filming go?" "I'd heard before that filming movies is incredibly troublesome. A scene can be reshot countless times. It's not like the boxing ring. Things drag on and on, it's incredibly tedious."
All eyes were on Ansen.
Anson chuckled but didn't refuse, noticing the sugar residue on Mike Tyson's lips.
Obviously, that must be the reason why the boxing champion didn't return to the set for so long. For a professional actor, it's unimaginable to sneak out to eat snacks after filming a scene; only someone as unruly and reckless as Mike Tyson could do that.
"This is the acting industry. It looks glamorous on the surface, but the actual filming process is incredibly rudimentary. So, does that dispel any illusions about film?"
Mike Tyson's expression remained unchanged. "I've never had any interest in Hollywood."
Anson chuckled, "Are you interested in the behind-the-scenes stories of filmmaking, like a magic trick reveal? We can go and check out the footage now, without any editing or post-production, and see how our filming turned out."
Before he could finish speaking, Mike Tyson had already raised his right hand and was waving it repeatedly.
"Huh?" Anson was taken aback. "Not even a little bit interested?"
Mike Tyson: "No, no, no, no."
Too direct and too resolute, that reaction of wanting to avoid it at all costs was truly amusing, and those around him turned away to stifle their laughter, but Anson remembered something:
Mike Tyson dislikes his own face, even loathes it.
Clearly, Mike Tyson wasn't planning on watching his own performance on screen.
Anson didn't press the issue or expose the secret. "It's actually quite good to keep some mystery. Once the magic trick is revealed, there's no fun in appreciating it. Believe me, if you've seen the original footage of those computer-generated special effects blockbusters, watching movies afterward will be bland and uninteresting."
A simple joke easily evokes images of Spider-Man, and rustling laughter fills the air.
Mike Tyson didn't seem to realize that Anson was covering for him, but it didn't matter. Anson's words were to his liking. He didn't argue, but just waved his hand and said, "Go, go, go do your jobs, and then tell me what else needs to be done. I know it's not that simple."
Anson gave Todd a look and mouthed: Keep it simple. Keep it as simple as possible.
Movies like "The Hangover" cannot and do not need to be filmed in one continuous shot. As mentioned before, the rhythm of comedy is the most important thing. This rhythm is usually achieved through dialogue, editing, and plot setting. The one-shot shooting method is actually a burden for comedy, which determines that the shooting process is often trivial.
The director must conceive the visuals in their mind, and all shots from different angles, framings, and positions need to be filmed to provide material for post-production.
If a director doesn't have a clear creative vision, no visuals in mind, and doesn't know how to edit or compose shots during filming, then they can only resort to a brute-force approach: shoot as many takes as possible, regardless of whether they'll be used, shooting multiple times from different angles and positions, just in case.
Otherwise, if filming ends and there's no footage left for post-production, that would be a real disaster.
Therefore, when faced with situations like Mike Tyson or Kobe Bryant, directors need to think more comprehensively and in greater detail than usual.
Now, it's up to Todd.
