Chapter 702, Fifth Floor
"It'd be a miracle if it worked," Li Zhuangsheng muttered, turning to look at the students behind him in line. He then pulled out twenty yuan and said earnestly, "Excuse me, my meal card is out of money. Could you swipe it for me?"

"okay."

The other party was a boy who took the money from Li Zhuangsheng and agreed without much thought.

"I don't have any change on me either. I'll give you the change when we get to the shop!" the boy said with a smile as he swiped his card for Li Zhuangsheng.

"Keep the change, thank you for swiping my card. Consider the rest as a treat for your drink!"

Li Zhuangsheng waved and left with Lin Yuehua carrying their trays.

"Hey, I'm a senior in high school! We're at most in the same grade!" The boy was a little confused, but when he thought about how he had made a few dollars, he didn't argue.

As he looked at Lin Yuehua's back, he wondered why she looked so familiar.

This girl is quite pretty. Is she also a senior in high school? Which class is she in? I've never heard of her before.

And that boy's meal card, why is it a little different from mine? Did he put a sticker on it himself?

"See? It's very simple!" After sitting down at an empty table with Lin Yuehua, Li Zhuangsheng said smugly, "Actually, you don't even need to bring your meal card."

Lin Yuehua kept her head down and ate her food, ignoring him.

"Actually, this is the first time I've eaten breakfast in the cafeteria." Li Zhuangsheng said, enjoying the slightly chilled steamed bun.

"What about military training?" Lin Yuehua asked casually.

“Oh…right right.” Li Zhuangsheng laughed.

Xingpeng had to live on campus during his first year of high school military training, while Li Zhuangsheng ate breakfast in the cafeteria at that time.

“However, that was so long ago,” Li Zhuangsheng sighed softly. “I can’t remember anymore.”

The two ate their breakfast at a leisurely pace in the cafeteria. The number of students around them gradually decreased, and after they finished eating, they were the only two students left in the entire cafeteria.

"Oh dear, there's only one minute left of morning self-study." Li Zhuangsheng took out his phone and glanced at it.

"We can't get out now," Lin Yuehua teased slightly. "That clip is too small; it can only open the classroom door, not the big iron lock on the garage door."

"You silly goose, can't I just go to the stationery store on campus and buy a big clipboard?" Li Zhuangsheng laughed. "But since we're already here, why don't we have lunch at the cafeteria again!"

"Shall we go see the teacher now?"

"Of course I'll watch it. I'm at least a paragon of virtue now, returning home rich and powerful!" Li Zhuangsheng puffed out his chest and raised his head. "But it's too early to watch it now. After watching it, I'll have nothing to do. I can't just sit in the office all morning!"

"Then where are we going?"

Lin Yuehua looked at her school uniform jacket. Wearing this while strolling around school was far too conspicuous. She was practically a moving target, and would be caught at any moment.

“I know a good place,” Li Zhuangsheng said with a mysterious smile. “Come with me.”

The two sneaked around the teaching building and arrived at the art building. It was early morning reading time, so the art building was quiet and deserted.

"Come on, I'll take you to a nice place."

Li Zhuangsheng smiled and took Lin Yuehua's hand.

The sky was pitch black, and the stairwell was even darker, like a monster ready to devour people. Lin Yuehua tensed up slightly, gripping Li Zhuangsheng's hand tightly.

The two tiptoed up to the fifth floor. Li Zhuangsheng arrived at a familiar spot and forcefully opened the window.

Because the two were wearing thick winter clothes, Li Zhuangsheng had to support Lin Yuehua's buttocks to push her inside. However, thanks to his years of persistent fitness training, he was able to easily climb in himself.

Upon entering the dark classroom, Lin Yuehua was about to turn on the light when Li Zhuangsheng stopped her. "If you turn on the light now, people outside will see us immediately."

Li Zhuangsheng smiled, grasped Lin Yuehua's hand, closed the window, and turned on his phone's flashlight.

"No wonder nothing's changed, no one's come." Li Zhuangsheng looked around the classroom and chuckled softly.

The classroom was just as I remembered it: scattered and discarded desks and chairs, drawing paper on the floor, paint on the walls... and two neat desks and chairs placed at the front of the classroom.

Li Zhuangsheng stepped forward; the two tables and chairs were covered with a thin layer of dust. He reached out and wiped them, then took out tissues from his pocket, and together with Lin Yuehua, they wiped the dust off the tables and chairs.

Both desks were covered with white draft paper, and the cartoon drawings on them were still as cute as ever.

Li Zhuangsheng had originally kept his desk very clean, but Hu Mengdie came later and put stickers on it. Then, Zhu Zhixue tore off the stickers and replaced them with white draft paper. However, Zhu Zhixue felt the asymmetry was unsightly, so she also put draft paper on Li Zhuangsheng's desk.

Today, the simple line drawings that Zhu Zhixue doodled back then are still left on the surface of both desks.

"Sit here," Li Zhuangsheng said, grinning. "There's even a small heater here, I bought it, use it as you like!"

He took out the small heater he had kept from years ago, plugged it in, turned the power up to the maximum, and finally had an additional light source besides his phone.

"It's much warmer now, isn't it?"

Li Zhuangsheng smiled and took a blanket from the lectern cabinet. He shook it out and covered Lin Yuehua with it.

"There are so many things here," Lin Yuehua exclaimed softly.

Li Zhuang nodded vigorously, then burrowed into the blanket as well: "Yeah, I used to hide here at noon to write my novel. There was even an electric fan, but in this weather, a fan can freeze you to death."

“No wonder,” Lin Yuehua said.

Li Zhuangsheng reached out and stroked the table, his gaze nostalgic, as if he had returned to the time when he knew neither the safety nor the world was in danger.

"Since Zhonglang disappeared, and Huan Yi left, I know how much I have failed in my youth..." Li Zhuangsheng lamented.

Lin Yuehua wiped Li Zhuangsheng's hair, which was wet with snow water, and said, "It's a good place."

“This is a secret base that I discovered a long, long time ago. At first, it was just me, and Li Xiuyu would come here occasionally. Later, Hu Mengdie and Zhu Zhixue came here.”

Lin Yuehua listened silently.

"You want me to come and sit in your secret base too?"

“Yeah, it’s a pretty nice place, isn’t it?” Li Zhuangsheng said, slumped over the table playing with his phone. “Let’s rest here for a while and talk again when it’s light.”

Lin Yuehua nodded slightly and took out her phone as well. The two snuggled together, wrapped in blankets, warming themselves under the small sun. The warm red light shone on their cheeks.

Because they had gotten up so early, both of them were very tired. And under the warm glow of the small sun, they quickly slumped onto the table and fell into a deep sleep.

"Well……"

Li Zhuangsheng rubbed his eyes and woke up.

A faint light shone through the newspaper-covered window, making it impossible to tell the time.

"Hey, it's almost ten o'clock." Li Zhuangsheng picked up his phone, yawning. "When did you wake up?"

“A dozen minutes ago,” Lin Yuehua said calmly.

"I just had another dream," Li Zhuangsheng yawned repeatedly. "I dreamt I was taking an exam again. What a nightmare!"
