Chapter 764 Medusa Alien
Chapter 764 Medusa Alien
The aliens have been much more behaving lately, and the area around Earth is enjoying a rare period of peace. Perhaps they're terrified after being defeated by the Chosen Ones and the EDF. But it's good, though. With peace and tranquility, humanity can recuperate, and cities are once again filled with laughter. People no longer have to live in constant fear of sudden attacks from cosmic monsters.
However, the pacification of Earth's aliens didn't mean the aliens beyond Earth were behaving themselves. On the distant planet Medusa, chaos reigned; a civil war had broken out, with the evil faction and the order faction locked in a fierce battle. The evil faction was initially at a disadvantage, primarily because the Medusas and their monsters on the order faction were incredibly tough and resilient. The evil faction's attacks were like tickles, barely causing any pain. But once the order faction retaliated, the evil faction couldn't withstand the onslaught and was forced into a complete rout.
Let's first look at the relatively weaker monsters. One of them is named Hales, who lives in the Medusa constellation. She's a peace-loving creature with a very gentle nature. But now, she's been forced to flee due to an attack by the Medusa aliens, heading towards Earth. And those Medusa aliens are determined to catch up with her and kill her.
Although Hales appears docile, it possesses unique abilities. It can curl into a ball and move at high speed through space like a shooting star—a truly remarkable escape skill. Most astonishing is its defensive power; its skin is as hard as steel, and even its claws are indestructible. Even ZAT's artillery and missiles can leave it unscathed. However, it is not without weaknesses; a portion of its feet is relatively vulnerable, and if pierced by a sharp object, it can still be injured.
Now let's look at the evil Medusa aliens. Their abilities are somewhat bizarre. Mimicry is effortless for them; they can easily transform into other people's appearances and blend into crowds, making them incredibly difficult to guard against. But even more formidable is their possession ability. They can silently possess humans, instantly sealing off their consciousness and completely controlling their bodies. And that's not all; the Medusa aliens can also release a special electromagnetic wave that can cause humans to go into shock, putting them into a state of suspended animation. People hypnotized by this electromagnetic wave are completely undetectable by current human methods, making them extremely difficult to detect.
In close combat, the Medusa aliens are equally formidable. Their melee fighting prowess is exceptional, with astonishing arm strength comparable to that of Ultra Warriors. In battle, they wield their whip-like arms in a windmill-like attack, employing a ferocious chokehold; once entangled, escape is nearly impossible. Furthermore, their bodies are covered in thorny armor, rendering them impervious to ordinary physical attacks. However, the Medusa aliens seem to have relatively poor defense against light attacks; they struggle to withstand such attacks.
The battle raged fiercely in the Medusa constellation, but in reality, neither side had a good way to defeat the other. Their defenses were too strong, and neither could inflict any real damage. Only the docile Hale, after being hurt, fought back fiercely, managing to make the Medusa aliens feel pain. The Medusa aliens were now determined to kill Hale, but their strength wouldn't allow it, so they could only chase it all over the universe, making it flee in all directions.
However, the Medusa aliens were not giving up and racked their brains to come up with what they thought was a brilliant plan. They thought to themselves: "I can't kill you! But the Earthlings can!" In their eyes, Earthlings were a bunch of fearless lunatics. They believed that if they drove Halez to Earth, given the Earthlings' fiery tempers, they would surely kill him without hesitation. This plan did sound rather insidious.
Earth's space defenses quickly detected Halez heading towards Earth, and alarms sounded immediately. As usual, the defense system issued stern warnings to Halez, but Halez's next action stunned everyone. It continued its journey towards Earth while repeatedly apologizing in its unique monstrous language, as if saying it had no other choice but to disturb Earth.
Meanwhile, on the Seth team's side, the members watched this scene through the monitor and couldn't help but exchange bewildered glances. "Tsk, an unlucky monster being chased and beaten by another alien, but even so, it keeps apologizing to Earth for disturbing us..."
They've been so polite, apologizing upon meeting you, it seems a bit unreasonable to immediately order an attack. But if you trust them too easily, what if it's a trap? After all, who can truly understand the thoughts of extraterrestrials?
Cui Ming knew he couldn't trust Hales directly; the universe was rife with deceit and treachery, and a single misstep could plunge Earth into utter destruction. But he also couldn't simply kill the monster that had sent out friendly signals; Earth already had many enemies.
Most importantly, with the Star Guides already present, who knows if the Silver People will cause trouble? Those aliens with ulterior motives are also lurking in the shadows, and making another enemy would undoubtedly be adding insult to injury.
"Keep an eye on them first." Cui Ming stroked his chin and then gave the order into the communicator, "Closely monitor Hales' every move. All troops are on high alert, but no one is allowed to fire without my order."
The Seth team sprang into action, activating all their detection equipment to pinpoint Hales' location. Watching Hales' slightly flustered yet polite demeanor on the screen, Cui Ming couldn't help but recall some of the friendly monsters he'd encountered before. Some had offered a helping hand to humans in danger, while others, though ferocious in appearance, possessed kind hearts. Perhaps, Hales really was just an innocent, pitiful monster being hunted?
Cui Ming secretly speculated in his heart, but his years of combat experience told him that he must not be careless before he was completely sure.
Earth's space defense system continued to lock onto Hales but did not launch an attack, leaving the Medusa aliens secretly observing from the rear filled with doubt. "What does this mean? Why aren't the Earthlings attacking?"
One of the Medusa aliens muttered under its breath, its once-certain plan now seemingly facing an unexpected twist. In its mind, Earthlings should not hesitate to attack alien creatures, especially a monster as large as Hales.
Just as the Medusa aliens were filled with confusion and pondering, Earth sent an inquiry to them through a space communication channel: "Why did you come to Earth? Do you have malicious intentions?"
When questioned, the Medusa alien not only ignored the Earthlings' inquiries but also directly cut off the communication lines, revealing its arrogant attitude.
Seeing this scene in the command center, Cui Ming laughed. "Good heavens! These Medusa aliens have guts! Openly ignoring Earth's inquiries and even interfering with communications." "Decision made! Attack that ugly thing first!" Cui Ming issued the order without hesitation. "We absolutely cannot let these arrogant bastards think Earth is easy to bully!" In an instant, some of the defensive weapons originally aimed at Hales quickly changed direction, targeting the area where the Medusa aliens might be hiding. Beams of high-energy lasers were instantly fired, piercing the darkness of space and hurtling towards the Medusa aliens.
Hello, dear alien, please allow me to accept this incredibly powerful Epsilon electromagnetic railgun!
At Earth's space defense base, the massive Epsilon electromagnetic railgun rapidly activated, its thick rails crackling with electricity like surging silver snakes. As the railgun began its rapid charging, the surrounding air was distorted by the powerful electromagnetic force, emitting a hissing sound. Inside the control room, the staff were completely focused, their eyes glued to the various instrument panels, their hands flying across the control consoles, large beads of sweat rolling down their foreheads, yet they paid no heed.
"Charging complete!" A loud shout shattered the tense silence. Instantly, an electromagnetic projectile emitting a ghostly blue light, propelled by powerful electromagnetic force, shot out like a meteor. Wherever the projectile passed, space seemed to be torn apart, leaving a brief but dazzling trail. Its speed far exceeded human imagination; in the blink of an eye, it disappeared into the vast universe, hurtling towards the possible hiding place of the Medusa aliens.
The muzzle of the Epsilon electromagnetic railgun glowed with a ghostly blue light on the geosynchronous orbit base. The sound of the current during charging was like the simultaneous flapping of tens of thousands of cicadas, and even the alloy deck of the base trembled slightly.
"Target locked outside geosynchronous orbit, distance calculation complete, Medusa alien individual, no friendly units confirmed." The fire control officer's voice was exceptionally calm in the command channel.
Cui Ming stared at the twisted figure chasing Heltz on the screen, his fingers tapping crisply on the control panel: "Send it a taste of Earth's specialty 'peanuts'."
The electromagnetic railgun's barrel suddenly retracted half a meter, then shot out with a vengeance—without a deafening roar, only an almost invisible afterimage ripped through the void. The electromagnetic projectile, enveloped in plasma, had already exceeded seven times the speed of sound, leaving a fleeting white streak at the edge of Earth's gravitational field.
The Medusa alien, who was whipping Heltz's back with its whip-like arm, suddenly stopped. Its thorn-covered head turned slightly, as if trying to detect some unusual vibration. But this hesitation lasted only three-thousandths of a second.
The electromagnetic projectile struck its chest cavity with pinpoint accuracy. There was no explosion upon contact; instead, it felt like a red-hot steel needle piercing butter. The projectile, carrying terrifying kinetic energy, pierced straight through its body, only detonating the entrained plasma as it exited through its back.
"Pfft-"
A muffled thud, inaudible in the vacuum, was clearly visible through optical sensors: the Medusa alien's upper body suddenly shattered into countless fragments, each stained with fluorescent green blood, as if gripped by an invisible, immense force like a tomato. Its whip-like arm, with strength comparable to an Ultraman, broke into three pieces; its thorny armor, covering its entire body, scattered like shards of glass; and its still-rotating head was blown away by the blast wave, the red light in its eye sockets only extinguishing completely after flying three hundred meters.
The largest piece of debris was no bigger than a fist, mixed with unconsolidated tissue fluid, and pulled by Earth's gravity, it plummeted into the atmosphere like a swarm of out-of-control fireflies. Hältz, terrified by the sudden bloodshed, curled into a ball, spun half a circle on the spot, and for the first time, his apology in monster language was tinged with a sob.
The railgun barrel cooled slowly, and the residual plasma at the muzzle condensed into tiny ice crystals. Cui Ming looked at the disintegrating fragments on the screen and scoffed into the communicator: "EDF's passion is enough for it to savor for the rest of its life."
The sphere that Heltz had shrunk to hover in place, seemingly still reeling from the impact. Several of the scattered fragments, however, had already begun to ignite from friction with the atmosphere, producing bright fireballs that, like a bizarre meteor shower, plummeted towards Earth's vast ocean.
Witnessing its companion instantly obliterated by the electromagnetic cannon, another Medusa alien froze in place, overwhelmed by a tidal wave of fear. The bloody scene replayed on its retina, momentarily halting its thought process. But soon, its cunning nature prevailed. A sinister plan formed in its mind as its eyes flashed red: since it couldn't directly confront the Earthlings' powerful weapons, it would secretly infiltrate Earth, find an opportunity to manipulate those weapons, and direct them at Hales.
The Medusa alien cautiously observed Earth's defense system, using space debris and meteorites as cover as it slowly approached. Knowing that Earth's space defenses were heavily monitored and that the slightest mishap would be detected, it minimized its energy fluctuations as much as possible, like a venomous snake lurking in the darkness, waiting for the opportune moment to deliver a fatal blow.
Thank goodness! I came here secretly, and even used the latest technology from Medusa's planet. I told my companions long ago that Earth was not easy to deal with, but they didn't believe me.
As it approached Earth's atmosphere, Medusa felt a surge of tension. It knew the atmosphere might harbor more unknown dangers, but the thought of Halez being destroyed by Earth's weapons somewhat mitigated its fear, fueled by greed and desire. It spotted a weak point in Earth's defenses, and with a flash, plunged into the atmosphere like a meteor. The intense friction caused its spiky armor to glow intensely. It gritted its teeth, enduring the pain, its only thought being to reach the ground as quickly as possible and find a way to control Earth's weapons.
After successfully landing in a remote valley on Earth, the Medusa alien quickly concealed itself. It surveyed its unfamiliar surroundings: towering mountains, dense vegetation—everything was completely different from its planet Medusa. But it had no time to admire the scenery; it began using its powerful senses to search for any nearby human military installations. It knew that only by approaching the central control points that managed powerful weapons like electromagnetic cannons could it carry out its scheme.
