Chapter 765 Medusa Alien: Why is it me again!

The Medusa alien hid behind a piece of space debris at the edge of Earth's atmosphere, secretly plotting how it could cause trouble silently. Its eerie eyes were fixed on Heltz below, who was communicating with the humans, and it was calculating how to use human weapons to kill this troublesome creature.

To be honest, recalling the scene of attacking Hazel filled the Medusa alien with resentment. It wielded its powerful whip, lashing Hazel again and again, but Hazel seemed completely unaffected. Despite having "Help" in its name, it showed no fear of the hundred consecutive, relentless blows. "Damn it..." the Medusa alien couldn't help but curse under its breath, "It's really tough!" Thinking of this, it almost cried with frustration, its inner roar screaming: "Damn it, why is this monster's defense so insane?" As a Medusa alien, it possessed some strength in the universe, but against Hazel, it felt like punching cotton, powerless to do anything.

Meanwhile, Hales was clumsily but diligently trying to communicate with Earth. Although language barriers prevented it from fully explaining its persecution and the Medusa alien civil war, its sincerity was undeniable. This monster certainly looked foolish, giving off an air of intellectual deficiency, yet this foolishness also revealed a kind of innocence, like a naive child filled with curiosity and awe towards Earth. It gestured and made various strange noises, attempting to make the Earthlings understand its goodwill.

"Fine, let him come over." Cui Ming stared at Heltz, who was still awkwardly apologizing on the screen, his fingertips tapping lightly on the edge of the command console. In the end, he relented. The fatigue from continuous combat was faintly visible between his brows, but the decisiveness in his eyes remained undiminished.

"Yes, but Captain, should we keep an eye on this guy?" Aragaki stroked his chin and leaned closer to the screen, watching Heltz curl up into a ball and slowly adjust its direction on the track, his tone tinged with caution. After all, even the most docile monster is troublesome once it gets out of control.

“We definitely need to keep an eye on him, but... this guy isn’t a big problem, just like Orpheus.” Cui Ming picked up the thermos on the table and took a sip of hot water; the Seth team’s logo was still printed on the inside of the thermos.

"Oh, Orpheus, then Earth shouldn't be a big problem." Kotaro paused in wiping his helmet, then smiled, a look of relief flashing in his eyes.

Mentioning Orphi eased the atmosphere in the command room considerably. She was a true star among Earth's native monsters—a herbivorous monster residing in Pochi Valley of the Chichibu region, appearing only once a year. Each time she sang, nearby farmers would gather at the valley entrance with their small stools, straining their ears to listen to her song and predict the harvest. Last year, her song trailed off exceptionally long, resulting in a 30% increase in rice yield; the year before, her song was tinged with tremolo, and sure enough, a rare hailstorm struck that summer.

"Last time the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra performed in Pochi Valley, Orphie even pulled the sheet music out of her belly button to conduct." Aragaki chuckled as he recalled the scene from the news. The monster covered in pale purple fur held the baton in its claws more like a conductor than a principal conductor. "I heard it can even hear New York jazz, but it can't stand electronic noise. Last time, some internet celebrity was live-streaming himself dancing in Taniguchi, and Orphie's loud shout shattered his speakers, and he even had diarrhea for three days."

“So, as long as we don’t provoke it, this kind of docile monster is actually much more reliable than some aliens.” Cui Ming put down his thermos and pulled up the thermal image of Heltz. “Have Storm Team Four keep a safe distance and take it to a deserted island in the South Pacific to stay temporarily. There’s a spare burrow that Orphi dug during her hibernation last year, which is perfect for it to stay in.”

Heltz seemed to understand the Earthling's command. The shrunk sphere began to slowly descend, and intermittent apologies in monster language could be heard. Kotaro watched the approaching shadow on the screen and suddenly remembered when Orphie was first discovered by the Seth team. She had also cautiously tapped the team members' armored vehicles with her claws, as if asking, "Can I come over?"

"Maybe after a while, this guy will be able to sing Earth songs too." Kotaro placed the cleaned helmet face down on the table, his tone filled with anticipation.

As Hales passed through the atmosphere, it deliberately controlled its descent speed, its massive body tracing a gentle arc through the clouds, as if afraid of disturbing any creature on the ground. When its feet finally touched the sandy beach of an uninhabited island in the South Pacific, even the grains of sand it stirred up seemed to move with utmost care.

This creature didn't wander off; it simply sat obediently in place, its massive body standing firmly like a small mountain, its tail curled gently at its side. Sunlight shone on its hard skin, reflecting a luster similar to obsidian, but its round eyes were filled with a childlike innocence and restraint.

The roar of a vehicle engine came from afar as the Seth team's SUVs kicked up dust as they drove in. Heltz immediately looked up alertly, but upon seeing the Seth team logo on the vehicle, he quickly looked down again, even mimicking a human gesture by gently nodding—a clumsy movement like that of a toddler learning to walk, yet exuding an undeniable friendliness.

The sergeant jumped out of the car, scanning Heltz's entire body with his detector. The data stream on the screen showed that the creature was not emitting any hostile signals. With an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips, he watched as Heltz deliberately placed its front paws on the ground, as if to say, "I have no weapons." He couldn't help but turn back to his team and mutter, "If this monster isn't faking it, then the Medusa aliens are really awful."

The observer next to him, who was recording Hales' vital signs, chimed in, "Yeah, look how well-behaved it is, like a pet. It doesn't look like it'll cause any trouble at all. The Medusa aliens can't beat us, so they're trying to use someone else to do their dirty work. That's so despicable."

Heltz seemed to understand the term "Medusa alien." Its massive body trembled slightly, and it let out a pitiful whimper, as if recounting its ordeal. It raised its head, gently nuzzled the energy block the sergeant had handed it with its nose, then immediately withdrew, maintaining its seated posture.

The sergeant tossed the cigarette back into his pocket and waved for his team to set up a temporary monitoring station: "Putting everything else aside, at least this attitude is much better than those aliens who just come in and blow up buildings. Once Storm One confirms the situation, if they've really been bullied, EDF might be able to help them out."

Heltz listened to their conversation. Although he couldn't understand the specifics, he could sense the softening in their tone. So he happily shook his head, his tough skin rubbing against the sand, making a soft rustling sound, as if expressing his gratitude.

The Medusa alien lurked in the shadows, completely unaware that the Earth Defense Force (EDF) had already detected its movements. Its eyes, flashing with an eerie red light, were fixed on an EDF base in the darkness, calculating its next move. Using its innate malevolent abilities, it first targeted a woman wandering alone near the base. The Medusa alien extended its slender arm, a faint, eerie green light emanating from its palm. Then, a peculiar electromagnetic wave shot towards the woman at incredible speed. The unsuspecting woman was instantly struck; her body swayed, then she collapsed to the ground, falling into a state of suspended animation. Seeing this, a sinister smile appeared on the Medusa alien's face. It then activated its mimicry ability, its body beginning to twist and deform. Moments later, it successfully transformed into the woman's appearance, from her looks to her demeanor, almost flawlessly.

The transformed Medusa alien, with feigned weakness, walked towards the EDF base. Upon reaching the base entrance, it first pretended to wipe non-existent tears from the corners of its eyes with a handkerchief, then cried out to the soldiers on guard, "Please, save me... My father was frightened to death by that terrible monster!" Its voice trembled, and its face was filled with overwhelming grief, as if it had truly experienced a tremendous trauma.

Upon seeing this, the soldiers on guard immediately became alert, reporting the situation to their unit via communication devices while carefully observing the "woman" before them. Meanwhile, inside the base, Cui Ming and his team received the news; they knew that the Medusa aliens had finally begun their operation.

"No way, what's this guy thinking?" Cui Ming stared intently at the monitor, his lips twitching slightly, his face filled with disbelief. The Medusa alien's clumsy disguise was child's play to him. Didn't he see Hazel sitting obediently nearby? Its cautious demeanor contrasted sharply with this treacherous Medusa alien. Hazel acted like she'd seen a ghost when she saw a Medusa alien, but this Medusa alien brazenly came to deceive them—he was practically asking for death!

Cui Ming grew angrier the more he thought about it. He rapidly tapped on the communication device, connecting to the sergeant's channel: "Hey, sergeant, this is Storm One. There's not a single normal part of the woman in front of you. She's a Medusa alien in disguise. She's wicked and full of evil schemes, trying to use us to get rid of Halez."

"Oh... how do we fight?" The sergeant tightened his grip on his weapon, his eyes warily fixed on the "woman" feigning tears in front of him, already preparing for the worst.

"Just fire directly. Don't give it a chance to make any tricks. This thing is very cunning." Cui Ming's voice was calm and decisive. In this perilous situation, there was no room for hesitation.

"That's all we can do." The sergeant took a deep breath, nodded vigorously, and after shutting down the communication, immediately turned to his team and shouted, "Fire! Shoot this woman! This thing is like an evil ghost; we can't let it get away with this!"

In an instant, the Seth team members sprang into action, their weapons aimed at the woman disguised as a Medusa alien. Beams of laser light, carrying intense heat, ripped through the air like lightning, raining down on their target.

The laser beam instantly pierced through the Medusa alien's mimicry body, blasting charred holes in the "woman's" body. Blood mixed with dark green bodily fluid gushed out, splattering the ground in a mess. The once neat dress was instantly reduced to tattered strips, the scraps mixed with scorch marks from the bullet holes, and fell backward due to inertia.

With a muffled thud, the mimic body crashed heavily onto the sand, twitched twice, and then went still. The sergeant took two steps forward, gun in hand, but his brow furrowed more and more deeply—the wound on this thing was writhing at a visible speed, and fine gray tentacles emerged from the charred hole, stitching up the damaged tissue like needles and thread.

"Something's wrong! This thing isn't completely dead!" The sergeant took a sudden half-step back and shouted into the communicator, "Continue the suppressive fire! It's healing itself!"

Before the words were even finished, the "woman" on the ground suddenly sprang up like a spring, its mimicry face splitting open from the corner of its mouth to reveal a true face covered in thorns. "Foolish Earthling!" A sharp, metallic growl echoed as it swung its suddenly elongated, whip-like arm at the nearest team member. "You think this little attack can kill me?"

Although the camouflage riddled with bullets had completely collapsed, the core of the Medusa alien's true form was hidden deep within its chest cavity; those seemingly fatal gunshot wounds were merely tears through its outer camouflage. It shook its body, still oozing green blood, the bullet holes in its thorny armor healing with white smoke, though its movements were noticeably slower than before—the intense heat of the laser beam had still burned its muscle tissue.

Heltz curled up into a ball in the distance, letting out terrified whimpers. The sergeant, watching the body continuously regenerating, suddenly understood why this thing dared to come and deceive people under a hail of bullets—its thick skin and tough flesh made it much more resilient than ordinary aliens.

"Change to armor-piercing rounds! Hit its joints!" The sergeant shook his numb arm, watching his team reload. "I'll see how many rounds you can last!"

The Medusa alien dodged and weaved through a hail of bullets, desperately fleeing into the distance. Its spiky armor was pierced in several places, and dark green blood dripped behind it, leaving an eerie trail in space. Finally escaping the attack range, it took cover behind an abandoned satellite, panting heavily, its heart filled with resentment. It cursed under its breath, "Humans are terrifying! That firepower almost tore me apart. I've really taken a nasty fall this time. But Heltz, don't be too smug. I will never let you go. I'll find a way to kill you sooner or later. And these meddlesome Earthlings, once I recover, I'll make you pay a heavy price!" Its eyes flashed with a venomous red light as it glared fiercely in the direction of Earth, plotting its next revenge.

However, let's run away first!
"Holy crap!!! Why are you guys targeting the back door to blow it up?!"

"You're not a wombat, of course you're attacking weak spots!" (End of Chapter)
