Chapter 929 Melba: Damn it! Golza!!!
Cui Ming withdrew his gaze from the cave entrance where Golza had escaped and slowly turned it to Melba, who was still sprawled on the ground. A sinister smile curled at the corner of his mouth. Just now, everyone's attention had been drawn to Golza's outrageous escape, and they had almost forgotten about this equally damned monster—now that Golza was gone, Melba could be used to "pay off the debt."
Melba, seeing the look in Cui Ming's eyes, belatedly realized: It's over! Golza has escaped, and I haven't! It struggled violently to get up, the severed wing throbbing with pain, but ignoring the agony, it roared madly in the direction Golza had fled: "Damn it! I haven't run away yet! Take me with you!!! Golza!!! Take me with you!!!"
Only the echo of the valley responded—Golza had long since dug a hole and disappeared, no longer caring about its life or death. Melba looked around in despair: the TPC troops' guns were once again aimed at it, Gomora was approaching it step by step, and even Tiga, who had just "let Golza go," slowly turned his head, his eyes gleaming with the excitement of "discovering a new toy."
"I was so busy dealing with Golza that I almost forgot about you, little guy." Tiga cracked his knuckles, the color timer on his chest flashing brightly, clearly still not quite done fighting. Breaking off Golza's horn had given him the thrill of ancient battles, and now seeing Melba intact (with only one wing left), he was suddenly intrigued: "Oh dear! I almost forgot about you! That was my favorite part—breaking off horns, now it's time to take you apart!"
Melba was terrified and tried to escape into the forest with its injured wing, but Gomora stepped on its tail. "Roar—!" it roared in pain and struggled desperately, but Gomora was much stronger than it, and no matter how it twisted and turned, it could not move an inch.
"Shoot them dead!!!" Cui Ming's voice carried an unquestionable command. He was the first to pull out a rocket launcher, aim at Melba's other wing, and pull the trigger! The rocket whistled and hit the target. With a loud "boom," Melba's left wing was instantly blown to pieces, completely losing its ability to fly.
Following Cui Ming's order, the ground forces unleashed their full firepower instantly: armor-piercing rounds from the anti-monster machine guns rained down on Melba, the Nix mechs' cannons blasted at its abdomen, and the Balga mechs' steel hammers smashed directly into its head with a loud "clang," making Melba see stars.
Tiga didn't stand still either. He rushed forward, grabbed Melba's only remaining right wing, and ripped it off with all his might! With a crisp "crack," the wing was torn off! Melba let out a shrill scream, and dark green blood spurted out. He completely lost the strength to resist.
"It's not over yet." Tiga looked at Melba lying on the ground, raised his foot again, and stomped hard on its body! Each stomp carried tremendous force, crushing Melba's bones. The TPC forces' artillery fire continued, and Gomora would occasionally nudge it with its horns, afraid that it still had the strength to escape.
Melba lay on the ground, its consciousness fading. It was filled with regret—it should never have come back to help Golza. Now, not only had it failed to save its companion, but it had also gotten itself killed, beaten so badly that even its own mother wouldn't recognize it. In its dying moments, only one thought remained in its mind: Golza, you bastard, you left me to take the beating all by myself!
With the final cannon shot striking Melba's vitals, it stopped breathing completely, its body limp and lifeless on the ground. Cui Ming put down the rocket launcher, looked at the mangled Melba, and nodded in satisfaction: "Done, call to duty."
Tiga clapped his hands, and the flashing frequency of the colored timer on his chest slowed down, clearly satisfied with this "finishing blow." He glanced at Cui Ming, then at the distant pyramid, and turned to fly towards the statue—although his first battle after resurrection hadn't completely eliminated Golza, taking down Melba was a decent start.
On the ground, TPC soldiers began clearing the battlefield. Gomora approached Melba's corpse, sniffed it, and then retreated in disgust, as if to say, "This thing doesn't taste good. Golza's flesh is much chewier." Cui Ming leaned against the assault vehicle, took out his binoculars, and glanced in the direction Golza had fled. A smile played on his lips: "Golza, you got lucky this time. If I run into you again, you won't be so lucky." The smoke from the battlefield gradually dissipated, and the TPC troops were busy clearing Melba's wreckage. Gomora obediently returned to Cui Ming's side, nuzzling his arm with its large head. Cui Ming, however, was not paying attention to any of this. He leaned against the assault vehicle door, his brows slightly furrowed, the image of the Flying Swallow going out of control replaying in his mind—it was obvious that Yu Lian was behind it.
"That Yu Lian is truly despicable," Cui Ming muttered under his breath, his tone full of dissatisfaction. He simply couldn't understand what Yu Lian was thinking. In order to turn Daigo into light and revive Tiga, she actually went so far as to interfere with fighter jets, pushing Daigo to the brink of a crash. This kind of behavior, disregarding the safety of others and only focusing on the goal of "reviving the Titan," was simply outrageous.
"Couldn't they have used a more normal method?" Cui Ming scoffed. If Yu Lian had communicated with him or TPC beforehand, they might have been able to come up with a safer solution. Instead, they resorted to these underhanded tactics, almost costing Daigo his life. If Daigo hadn't been lucky enough to die in the crash, what would have been the point of Tiga being resurrected?
He shook his head, dismissing these troubling thoughts—it was pointless to dwell on them now; the matter was over, and Tiga had been successfully resurrected. Worrying about Yuzare's actions would be a waste of energy.
Cui Ming looked up at the sky. Tiga's figure was flying towards the Pyramid of Light. The light particles around him carried a calm and ancient aura, completely different from the violent state he had been in during the battle. Cui Ming's eyes narrowed slightly. With his sensitivity to the power of light, he could clearly perceive that the consciousness within Tiga at this moment was not Daigo, who had just transformed into light, but rather the will of Tiga himself.
"It really is the real person."
However, thinking of Daigo, Cui Ming couldn't help but smile again. Daigo had only passively turned into light, and was probably still "swirling" in Tiga's consciousness, completely confused about the situation—how did he suddenly become a giant? How should he use Tiga's power? What should he do next? These questions would probably only be cleared up by Daigo when Tiga's true form "returned" to his body.
Cui Ming took out his communicator and said into it, "Captain Ju Jianhui, pass the word down to the medical staff to check the crash site of the Feiyan. Daigo should be nearby. Make sure to protect his safety."
"Received, Storm One." Megumi's voice came through the communicator, tinged with concern. "Daigo... he should be alright, right?"
"Don't worry, he's fine, just a little dazed," Cui Ming said with a smile, his gaze once again turning to the direction Tiga had left in.
In the distance, Tiga's figure gradually disappeared in the direction of the Pyramid of Light. Cui Ming knew that Tiga was probably returning to the statue to sort out his condition and wait for Daigo's consciousness to adjust. As for him, he needed to finish up the remaining tasks as soon as possible. (End of Chapter)
