Chapter 28 Halloween Dinner
Chapter 28 Halloween Dinner
"Today we are going to learn simple biological transformation, which is more difficult than ordinary object transformation. I need you to pay extra attention-"
Professor McGonagall was lecturing in the front, and the chalk automatically wrote down the key points on the blackboard.
"——Okay, does anyone know what the dangers of biological transformation are?"
The classroom was quiet, and unlike usual, there was no one hand raised impatiently. After a while, someone raised their hand hesitantly.
"Miss Mandy Blocher?" said Professor McGonagall, looking at her encouragingly.
Mandy Blohe of Ravenclaw stood up: "There are four points in total. First, incomplete transformation will cause great stimulation to the creature, and then attack the wizard; second..."
Wade raised his head and looked around the classroom, but he didn't see the brown-haired figure, but the other Gryffindor students were there.
He asked Michael next to him: "Have you seen Hermione?"
Michael also raised his head and looked around, guessing, "Is he not feeling well and resting in the dormitory? You see, Professor McGonagall didn't say anything."
This made sense, but Vader felt inexplicably uneasy.
At this moment, Professor McGonagall's stern eyes swept over here, and the two immediately shut their mouths, not daring to speak anymore.
When the get out of class was over, the students rushed out. Wade walked through the crowded corridor and found Harry and Ron.
"Excuse me, Potter, Weasley."
Looking at Wade walking towards them, Ron inexplicably took a step back, "W-what's the matter, Gray?"
"Have you seen Hermione?" Wade asked, "Why didn't she come to Transfiguration class?"
Harry subconsciously looked at Ron, who had a trace of uneasiness on his face. He said guiltily, "How should I know? We don't know Granger well!"
Vader narrowed his eyes slightly and looked directly into Ron's eyes.
Ron lowered his eyes to avoid his gaze, pulled Harry who was beside him, and said in a bluffing tone: "If you have nothing else to do, we are going to rest!"
He pulled Harry away, but suddenly a voice came from behind him -
"Harry Potter!"
Harry looked back and saw Wade staring at him seriously: "You really don't know what happened?"
Under his gaze, Harry felt as if he was dragged out into the sun and his mouth was dry.
He wanted to protect his friend, but he couldn't lie.
"Hermione, Hermione, she cried after Charms class," Harry finally whispered. "We didn't see her again after that - I'm so sorry."
He was finally dragged away by Ron. Wade stood there, motionless, frowning and thinking.
However, time has locked his memory. He tried hard to recall but couldn't remember anything. "Did they have a fight?" Michael said knowingly, "Hermione is a little too serious. It's not surprising that she had a fight with those Gryffindors. Let's go. She won't miss the Halloween dinner. We can ask her what happened later."
Vader nodded.
Not far behind the two of them, Padma tapped her fingers thoughtfully, then quickly caught up with her twin sister and whispered to her.
In the evening, the auditorium was decorated with giant pumpkin lanterns suspended from the ceiling and colorful skulls on the walls. Countless bats were circling and flying in the auditorium, sometimes gathering together and whizzing past like dark clouds, and the flames in the pumpkin lanterns were also flickering.
The dinner hadn't started yet, but students from the four colleges had already filled up all the seats, and professors were arriving one after another. Dumbledore even dressed up to match the Halloween theme - he wore a pumpkin-colored robe with a bat pattern on his hat, and smiled as he talked to Professor McGonagall next to him.
Wade glanced at the Gryffindor table, but the lions were too noisy. The Weasley twins and a few boys were running around, and there were occasional exclamations and laughter. Wade stared for a long time, but couldn't find Hermione.
At this moment, someone suddenly patted him on the shoulder. Before Wade turned his head, he smelled a faint fragrance.
Padma pushed Anthony, who was sitting next to him, aside and said, "I know where Granger went."
Vader asked, "She didn't come to the dinner?"
"No." Padma brushed her hair and whispered, "Parvati said - oh, you should know, Parvati is my sister, she is in Gryffindor College - she said that after the Charms class, that Weasley guy said bad things about Granger - saying that she was like a nightmare or something."
"-Ron Weasley?" Michael leaned forward and asked in surprise, "He's so brave? - I mean, didn't Hermione hex him right away?"
"She cried for a long time in the toilet." Padma emphasized, "-she was very sad and refused to let anyone comfort her. Parvati asked for leave for her afternoon Transfiguration class. I just went to the toilet and Granger was still in there."
"I'll go take a look." Wade stood up immediately.
Padma said enthusiastically, “I’ll take you there.”
"--But the dinner is about to begin, and I didn't eat much at noon because of this meal." Michael muttered. Seeing Wade almost walking out of the auditorium with big strides, he finally stood up with a sigh and trotted after him.
As students arrived at the hall one after another, a few people who were going against the flow stood out. At the Gryffindor table, Harry accidentally saw Wade walking out of the hall. He was originally immersed in the joyful atmosphere of Halloween and had completely forgotten what happened before, but at this moment, it was like a basin of cold water poured over his head, and his memory was instantly revived.
"Ron!" He grabbed his friend's arm and asked, "Is Hermione not back yet?"
Ron, who was looking forward to a feast, didn't care much: "It seems so - what's wrong?"
"I just saw Gray and the others go out - are they going to look for Hermione?" said Harry.
"It's also possible that Granger has a good relationship with them. Well, they've gone to look for them anyway, so don't worry." Ron said indifferently.
He was really fed up with Hermione's preaching - although he felt a little guilty when he saw the girl's tears, after so much time, that guilt had long disappeared. Instead, the disgust brought by Hermione's condescending "instructions" became more profound.
"But..." Harry hesitated, "They are all Ravenclaws, but Hermione is a Gryffindor like us!"
A bat controlled by Fred's wand landed on Ron's head, and there was laughter all around. Ron was busy driving away the bat and didn't pay attention to what Harry said.
Harry hesitated for a moment, but finally left his seat before the dinner started and ran out of the hall. Dumbledore and Snape turned their eyes almost at the same time and watched him leave.
