Chapter 546 Let the Sage Personally Intervene! The Sage's Karma!
On the Luofu side, he secluded himself in a small building, focusing all his energy on closed-door cultivation at Ruzhen Temple.
The news that he had killed the Golden-Winged Roc seemed to have caused no ripples whatsoever.
Even Lion Camel Ridge seemed to have forgotten that they had a king in an instant. Neither the green-haired lion demon, the yellow-toothed white elephant, nor the tens of thousands of monsters made any unusual moves.
Luo Fu certainly wouldn't simply assume that the monsters of Lion Camel Ridge were afraid of him.
In the eyes of these monsters, especially the Green-haired Lion Spirit and the Yellow-toothed White Elephant, being a monster in Lion Camel Ridge was only a temporary task.
Compared to the unruly Golden-Winged Roc, the Green-Haired Lion Demon and the Yellow-Toothed White Elephant were very clear about their main purpose.
Although, broadly speaking, the three demon kings of Lion Camel Ridge and Luofu all belong to the Buddhist sect.
However, their statuses are completely different. The Green-haired Lion Spirit and the Yellow-toothed White Elephant are merely the mounts of the two Bodhisattvas, while the Golden-winged Roc claims to be the Buddha's uncle. Luofu, on the other hand, is a true descendant of the Buddha of the East and is a sure-fire future Buddha of True Dharma.
To some extent, the conflict between them can only be considered an internal contradiction within Buddhism.
The internal conflict has escalated to an irreconcilable level, something neither the Green-haired Lion Demon nor the Yellow-toothed White Elephant would dare to do.
Even if they had the ability, they wouldn't have the courage.
However, Lion Camel Ridge remained silent. But the Peacock Princess, who had once scoffed at the Golden-Winged Roc's pursuit, took the initiative to come to them.
On the journey westward, Princess Peacock was indeed not a calamity for the westward-bound party, but rather an aid.
However, this was at Lion Camel Ridge, under the premise that it indeed caused great difficulties for the westward journey team.
Now that the Golden-Winged Roc has perished, only a wisp of its soul has escaped into the underworld and its whereabouts are unknown.
In this situation, Princess Peacock's role in the Journey to the West tribulation will likely change, and she will most likely transform from an ally into an obstacle.
At this moment, Princess Peacock ascended to Ruzhen Temple and presented a visiting card to Luofu.
When Luo Fu, who was in seclusion at Ruzhen Temple, learned of the Peacock Princess's visit, he couldn't help but show a knowing expression.
He realized that his act of killing the Golden-Winged Roc could not have been without a follow-up.
I just never expected that it would be the Peacock Princess who would come.
However, upon closer reflection, this makes perfect sense.
Although the Golden-Winged Roc is the younger brother of the Peacock King Bodhisattva, he often refers to himself as the Buddha's uncle.
However, it is certain that the Peacock King Bodhisattva would not personally seek out Luofu after the death of the Golden-Winged Roc. First of all, the World-Honored One, Tathagata, would not allow such a thing to happen.
Luofu is a sure thing that the future Buddha Ruzhen Miaofa will be between the World Honored One Tathagata and the Buddha of the East. Their relationship is like that of the top leader and the second-in-command in Buddhism, or the emperor and the crown prince. Even if there are conflicts, they cannot be made public.
Regardless of the cause, Luofu is a legitimate future Buddha of Buddhism, approved by the Buddha of the East and the World Honored One.
The Golden-Winged Roc, to put it nicely, is a spoiled rich kid, not part of the Buddhist system. To put it bluntly, he's even worse than someone with connections.
Don't forget that the Peacock King Bodhisattva also has a prefix: Buddha Mother.
This Buddha Mother was recognized by the World-Honored One, Tathagata, even though he had to hold his nose.
When the Buddha attained enlightenment, he was swallowed whole by a peacock and could only emerge by breaking through its back. When he first came out of the peacock's belly, the Buddha wanted to kill the peacock.
However, after being persuaded by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, he finally gave up on directly killing the peacock to end the matter once and for all.
Giving the peacock a Buddha Mother Peacock King Bodhisattva was the result of a compromise by the World-Honored One Tathagata.
Although Buddha is the head of Buddhism, the true leaders of Buddhism are the two Western Saints. Even if the two Saints accepted him as the one who converted barbarians to Buddhism, he was not truly the one with absolute authority within the entire Buddhist system. Rather, he was an outsider who was appointed as the leader.
Buddhism is a rather large organization, and it is not linear.
The Buddha, at most, was only slightly stronger than the Zhou emperors of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.
There are three generations of people who are nominally equal to him or slightly inferior to him, namely the three generations of the horizontal generation and the three generations of the vertical generation.
The future Maitreya Buddha in the Three Worlds is recognized by Buddhism and even the Three Realms as the successor to the Tathagata.
This is still widely recognized. In addition, there were even seven Buddhas in the past who were mentioned alongside the World-Honored One, Tathagata.
In Buddhism, even the Buddha, the supreme leader, cannot be considered the only one who is supreme.
Not long ago, the Bodhisattva Vimalamitra, who was clearly just a Bodhisattva, attended the Ullambana Festival once and then remained secluded for over three hundred years. Even the Tathagata could only turn a blind eye to this.
In this situation, the Buddha would certainly not go to great lengths for the sake of the nominal Buddha Mother Peacock.
After the Investiture of the Gods, the Three Realms were no longer what they used to be, an era where order was fragile and vulnerable, and where cultivators valued strength above all else. With the return of the Investiture of the Gods, order was stabilized and became a rule that everyone tacitly abided by.
Sages may retreat beyond the Three Realms, but their influence extends to all aspects of life.
The Peacock King Bodhisattva, whose position in Buddhism is awkward, would not receive any support even if he wanted to avenge his younger brother, the Garuda. On the contrary, he would face many obstacles.
The only person he could use was this peacock princess.
After guessing the Peacock Princess's purpose for coming.
Luo Fu did not keep the princess waiting any longer.
Instead, they chose to meet the mysterious peacock princess at a specific location within Ruzhen Temple.
Ruzhen Temple was indeed destroyed in the previous battle between Luofu and the Golden-Winged Roc.
However, as a gift from Buddha, it was repaired by the seven Spider-Garland monks and many of their disciples within just a few hours after Luofu killed the Golden-Winged Roc. In fact, the scale of the repair was even expanded considerably.
However, the overall layout still retains the original layout bestowed by the Buddha. While expanding on both sides, it also extends several courtyards, making Ruzhen Temple appear even more grand and magnificent.
When Luo Fu arrived at the side hall where Princess Peacock was being entertained.
To his surprise, he found that not only were there seven Spider-Garlans in the side hall, but also the sixth prince of Lion Camel Kingdom, who had just joined the sect not long ago.
Only after Princess Peacock and the Sixth Prince explained it did Luo Fu understand.
The reason why this sixth prince, along with his loyal ministers and righteous men, has survived to this day is actually related to Princess Peacock. These survivors of the Lion Camel Kingdom once nearly fell into the hands of the Lion Camel Ridge monsters, but Princess Peacock happened to be there and they escaped by sheer luck, thus surviving to this day.
In the heart of the sixth prince, Princess Peacock was his savior.
Now that Princess Peacock has appeared at Ruzhen Temple, it would be one thing if he didn't know, but now that he has encountered her, the Sixth Prince certainly won't turn a blind eye.
As for the seven spider spirits, don't forget that although they are just spider spirits in this life, they were the daughters of the Jade Emperor in the Heavenly Court in their previous life.
Princess Peacock's identity and background are equally extraordinary.
Since they are top-tier second-generation figures in the Three Realms, it's not surprising that they know each other.
Now that Luo Fu has appeared, the seven spiders, Jialan, the sixth prince, and others can at most let Luo Fu know about the cause and effect between himself and the Peacock Princess.
As for this cause and effect, at most it only has a certain impact on Luofu's attitude.
Whether it was the Sixth Prince or the Seven Spiders Garan, they all knew very well that their future lay in Luofu, in Ruzhen Temple.
Even if Princess Peacock was her savior, her former best friend, and her close confidante, how could that compare to the person who helped her restore her kingdom and help her establish her own?
After Spider Jialan and the Sixth Prince left, Luo Fu glanced at Princess Peacock and said, "Princess Peacock, let's not beat around the bush. This time, are you representing the Buddha Mother or the World Honored One?"
The fact that Luo Fu killed the Golden-Winged Roc cannot be hidden from anyone.
Whether it's the Western Paradise or the Heavenly Court, they must now know all the cause and effect between Luofu and the Golden-Winged Roc.
However, what Luo Fu is now unsure about is why the Peacock Princess came here.
If it represents the Buddha Mother Peacock King Bodhisattva, then without a doubt, the visitor is not well-intentioned.
If it represents the World-Honored One, then it's different.
The former is genuine hatred, while the latter is something that can be discussed.
"Like a true Buddha, she speaks frankly and directly." As Princess Peacock's eyes darted around, a strange and eerie light flickered in them. Clearly, she must have some special method of contemplation to have cultivated such unique eyes.
In the Three Realms, there are quite a few eyes with special effects.
The most well-known one is undoubtedly Erlang Shen, the True Lord of Guanjiangkou, whose third eye is split between Yang Jian's eyebrows. Besides Yang Jian, there is another famous three-eyed person in the Heavenly Court, namely Lord Ma.
Even Sun Wukong, through a series of coincidences, gained a pair of fiery eyes in the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
In Buddhism, there are also many special eyes; in fact, the eyes alone are divided into five grades.
The naked eye, the divine eye, the wisdom eye, the Dharma eye, and the Buddha eye.
The naked eye is the eye of all living beings, while the remaining four types each possess some incredible supernatural powers.
As the granddaughter of the Peacock King Bodhisattva, it is not surprising that Princess Peacock possesses a supernatural ability for cultivating and observing.
Even looking at her eyes now, which have an unusual luster, it's clear that she has cultivated this special method to a certain level; otherwise, those eyes wouldn't have such a shimmering light.
After observing Luofu for a moment, Princess Peacock said, "This time, I am entrusted by my maternal grandmother, but not to make enemies with Ruzhen Buddha. Rather, I hope to turn hostility into friendship with Ruzhen Buddha."
"Oh?" Luo Fu looked noncommittal.
You must know that he personally seized the Yin-Yang Qi Bottle from the Golden-Winged Roc, and even extracted the Yin-Yang Qi that the Phoenix had left for the Roc, refining it into his own supernatural power. Even the Golden-Winged Roc itself, if it weren't for a wisp of its soul running away quickly, would probably have been completely annihilated in Luo Fu's hands.
In this situation, Luo Fu would obviously not be foolish enough to easily believe the idea of turning hostility into friendship.
With a soft sigh, Princess Peacock said, "As you truly believe, there is no need to doubt your grandmother's sincerity. Although the Golden-Winged Roc did indeed die at your hands, it was his destiny. You merely fulfilled his destiny. Besides, isn't his physical body still in your hands now? As long as you return the Golden-Winged Roc's body to your grandmother, then your grandmother can decide to wipe the slate clean."
Luo Fu isn't stupid; how could he possibly believe such a thing?
Princess Peacock is indeed claiming to represent the Peacock King Bodhisattva, but who knows if she will turn her back on him after Luofu foolishly hands over the Golden-Winged Roc's body?
It was as if he had guessed that Luo Fu wouldn't so easily believe his words.
Princess Peacock explained, "Grandmother foresaw long ago that the Golden-Winged Roc would face its calamity ahead of time, and you were merely the one who helped it overcome it."
Thoughts raced through his mind. Luo Fu knew very well that if he hadn't entered the shared space and obtained the power of the Luo Fu of the Heavens, he would have been nothing more than a small fry in the Journey to the West, not even a minor character.
They are not even comparable to Benboba, Baboben, or even Xiaozuanfeng.
He truly gained influence over Journey to the West after returning from the shared space. With the help of the shared resources and abilities, he unearthed the source of his bloodline, which belonged to the ancient great shaman, the war god Chi You. This was after he was noticed by the goddess Pingxin of the underworld.
However, it's not necessarily true that Consort Pingxin was the first to notice Luofu.
Although the Six Sages have retreated to the heavens, they are not truly ignorant of what is happening in the Three Realms.
On the contrary, the Six Sages were able to understand everything that happened in the Three Realms almost immediately.
Otherwise, Luofu wouldn't have been first taken in by Patriarch Subhuti, and then received the Jade Void Palace Immortal Sword delivered by Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Zhang Ziyang would have given him the Yin-Yang Two Qi Floating Dust with his almost clumsy excuse.
This series of events undoubtedly shows that Luo Fu had already attracted the attention of the Six Sages at some point.
The reason why, currently, only the Underworld's Pingxin, the Daoist Zhunti, the Primordial Heavenly Venerable, and the Sage Taiqing have truly come into contact with him is because the impact he has caused has not yet reached the point where the Sages would personally intervene.
However, as Luo Fu continues to improve his strength, realm, and cultivation, sooner or later the still-unseen Nuwa Saint, Shangqing Saint, and Jieyin Daoist will all form karmic ties with Luo Fu through various means.
When dealing with cultivators in the Three Realms, the methods used by sages to establish karmic connections are almost always the same: they must first give before they can take.
The Fire Jujube Boat of Lady Pingxin, the Golden Body Wonderful Method of Patriarch Subhuti, the Jade Void Palace Immortal Sword of Primordial Heavenly Venerable, and the Floating Dust of the Sage of Taiqing—these magical treasures and techniques are the karmic connections formed between the Sage and Luofu.
With this cause, they can deduce the effect from the cause.
For a cultivator like Luo Fu, this cause was something he didn't even have the chance to refuse.
Even if Luo Fu doesn't want the Jade Void Palace Immortal Sword or the Yin-Yang Two Qi Dust, the Sage will still find other ways to force Luo Fu to accept this cause and effect.
The saying "below the sage, all are ants" is not just an empty phrase.
This is a truth proven by countless powerful cultivators and beings throughout the Three Realms, through their own blood, tears, and names.
