Captain Jack of Azeroth

Chapter 17: A Solitary Boat Crossing the Sea

Chapter 17: A Solitary Boat Crossing the Sea
After re-equipping themselves, the two men headed north again hand in hand.

"Clap--"

Gunshots were heard from time to time on the wetland beach, and the crocodiles and fishmen encountered along the way were in trouble.

With the dwarven pistol, Fizmos began to teach Jack how to fight. He couldn't teach Jack much about shooting, after all, he had just started and didn't have any tricks. But he was very familiar with the fighting method of using a pistol in one hand and a sword in the other.

The sword was found after they looted a murloc village. Those murlocs seemed innocent, but the two were already starving.

After the war, the two men sat among the corpses of the mermen, and roasted the fish that the mermen had prepared for storage over a bonfire lit by the mermen.

"When dealing with small creatures like murlocs, we can't let them get close to us easily. We are not wearing heavy armor, and if we are injured by them, it will affect our combat effectiveness. Small creatures often live in groups, with at least dozens or hundreds of them. Once you are injured, you are likely to be killed by them using human wave tactics."

"So, it is very important to have a melee weapon that can defend at this time."

Fizmos handed the sword to Jack, "Although the spear can attack farther, its defensive ability is much worse."

Jack put down the spear reluctantly, took the sword, cut the cloth that bound the dagger, and put the dagger back into the sheath on the outside of his thigh.

He didn't think what Fizmos said was right, the spear could also be used for defense. It was just that he didn't know how to use the spear, so he could only follow Fizmos and learn how to use the sword.

During the break, Jack followed Fizmos to learn Kul Tiran swordsmanship. This swordsmanship also focuses on the lower body, but the way it focuses is different from Alterac swordsmanship. It uses steps and lowering the center of gravity to control the lower body. Kul Tiran swordsmanship is suitable for fighting on ships. It is a fighting skill summed up by the Kul Tirans for thousands of years.

Every day when traveling, Fizmos would find some lone murlocs for Jack to practice with. Through actual combat training, Jack's swordsmanship quickly became proficient, and he was able to deal with more and more murlocs.

The murlocs are not to be bullied. They have a simple social division of labor, with four professions: warrior, hunter, mage, and priest, with a full range of tanks, healers, and outputs.

Jack is not afraid of warriors and priests, he needs warriors to practice swordsmanship, with priests to add blood, the murloc warrior can last a little longer, so that he can gain more swordsmanship experience. But hunters and mages are the most annoying, mages can use frost arrows, hunters can throw spears, and you will get hurt if you are not careful.

When facing these two professions, Jack usually takes the initiative and uses the dwarf pistol to kill them.

Sometimes, when encountering a team of more than ten murlocs, including three or four hunters and mages, Jack would first kill the mages, and then use the fast reloading method taught by Fizmos, using the long sword to defend while quickly reloading ammunition, and kill the rest one by one.

At the beginning, Jack couldn't cope with it calmly and was often stabbed by thrown spears or hit by ice arrows.

Fizmos would come to the herbal medicine and treat Jack. Jack also learned some knowledge of herbal medicine. The herb can be used to heal wounds, and the devil's grass can eliminate magical damage. Although it is not as effective as after being made into potions, using the herbs directly to treat Jack can relieve his injuries and allow him to move.

In Fizmos' words, "You can't always be healthy. You have to be familiar with being injured and how to fight when you are injured. Only in this way can you survive on the battlefield."

Jack could only endure the pain and continue to look for the fishmen to fight. When he was injured, his fighting power was greatly reduced, making it easier for the fishmen to escape, and then attract a large group of fishmen to attack him. In this case, Jack could only run away with his head in his hands.

Fizmos would rush out at this time to help Jack get rid of the murlocs. The fast reload method became a nightmare for the murlocs. The two crossed their shots and quickly got rid of the mage and hunter, and then killed the melee murlocs bit by bit.

Seeing that the two men were unable to win, the fishmen turned around and ran away.

The two men did not kill them all. Instead, they occupied their village, had a good meal, and then continued on their way.

After walking for a month, the two finally arrived at the northern coast of the wetland. They stopped and walked along the way, occupied eight fishman villages, and killed more than 30 crocodiles.

The two found a place with trees and set up a simple camp. Fizmos lit a campfire and then put away the fire stick.

The fire stick is a magical item made by the wizard, which can quickly start a fire in the wild. It is loved by soldiers, bandits and explorers. It is said to have a history of thousands of years and can be found all over Azeroth.

There are basically fire sticks in every murloc village, which indirectly proves that this legend has a certain degree of credibility.

Jack couldn't let go of the fire stick. In the first few days, he tried to make fire by rubbing two sticks together. If he was unlucky, he couldn't light a fire even in half an hour.

Before going to bed, the two wove two ropes. The next morning, they took the ropes and went deep into the swamp to find trees to make a boat.

There were few trees in the swamp, and the roads were difficult to navigate. It took the two men about ten days to build the boat. After pushing it out to sea for a test, the center of gravity was slightly tilted to the right.

"It's barely enough. We are both right-handed. If we are lucky, we can reach the other side of the bay."

As Fizmos spoke, he glanced at Jack. Through this period of contact, he found that Jack's luck was simply amazing. Not to mention the many times he jumped on the edge of death, when the two walked along the coastline, every time Jack chose to stop, there would be a lot of seafood nearby, so there was no worry about food. Only in the first few days, because there was no fire stick, the two had to rub wood to make fire. Even when rubbing wood to make fire, Jack always lit the velvet before him.

You can also go to Arathi Highlands along the eastern mountains. However, once the orcs enter the wetlands, they will definitely attack the Sador Bridge first, so you must sneak into the orc camp to get there from land.

In comparison, crossing the sea alone was much easier. Coupled with Jack's luck, Fizmos was confident that he could accomplish this feat.

When dawn came, the two pushed the boat into the sea, endured the cold sea water, jumped on the boat, and slowly rowed along the coast. Soon, the boat speeded up and took the two people to the strait not far away.

Fizmos shouted, "Jack, hurry up! There is the Sador Strait ahead, and the current there is very fast. We can't be swept away. Otherwise, we will be carried to the other side of the continent by the current."

Jack paddled hard obediently, trying to steer the boat towards the other side of the strait.
