The Queen of Scrolls never admits defeat
Chapter 977 Arya
Sylph followed Caleb to a semi-open nest at the edge of the clearing, made of huge leaves and vines.
The nest was lined with dry, fragrant golden hay and more soft moss, making it look warm and cozy.
The leaf nest was located at a relatively low position, so she could climb up and down without any problem, and immediately decided to stay there.
Caleb dutifully introduced the area: "Over there is the 'Fountain of Growth,' the water is especially sweet, and drinking too much will make your scales even shinier... Over there is the 'Dragon Fledgling Fruit Tree,' you can eat the fruit as much as you want, but don't damage the tree, or Instructor Ysera will be angry... Over there is the 'Play Area,' you can roll around and practice pouncing as much as you want, the ground is especially soft... Over there is the 'Meditation Corner,' there are calming flowers, you can go there if you want to sleep or stay quiet..."
As they were introducing the dragon, a small, yellowish-green dragon, smaller than Sylph, quietly emerged from behind a large leaf.
With her bright blue eyes, she looked at Sylph with a mixture of curiosity and shyness. She mustered her courage and asked softly, "Sylph... your scales are so beautiful... like the tenderest leaf tips. May I... touch them?"
After saying that, she seemed to realize that she had been abrupt, and her paws nervously touched each other, while the tip of her tail curled up.
Sylph looked at the adorable little creature before her, gently lowered her head, and brought closer the smoothest and brightest scale near her cheek and neck:
"Of course! Your scales are beautiful too, like new buds in the sunlight!"
She noticed that the little dragon's scales had a very faint, warm golden sheen in the sunlight.
Arya's eyes lit up immediately upon receiving permission. She carefully extended her front paw and gently touched the scales on the side of Sylph's neck.
"Wow..." Arya let out a small, amazed gasp. "It really... feels so good, cool and firm!"
Sylph felt a little ticklish from being rubbed and couldn't help but chuckle softly.
She stretched out her paw and, with the same gentle force, touched the faintly golden scale on the little dragon's head: "Yours is too, warm and very special."
Caleb, standing nearby, looked at them and introduced them with a smile:
“Arya is an ancient green dragon that hatched fifty years ago. She was the youngest here before you came, and she’s usually a bit shy. But she’s very clever and knows the little flowers and grasses in the forest very well. She can always find where the sweetest berries are hidden.”
"Really?" Sylph looked at Arya with great interest. "Could you show me the plants here? I love plants too!"
Upon hearing that Sylph wanted to see plants instead of some frightening magical beast or to fight her and see who could fly, Arya's bright, vertical pupils lit up instantly, and her voice rose slightly, carrying a rare hint of confidence:
"Yes, of course! It's getting dark, let me take you to see the 'Moon Tear Orchid' that only blooms at night!"
They only fully bloom under moonlight and starlight, emitting a silvery-blue light, which is especially beautiful!
Also, there are many calming flowers and dream vines in the meditation corner. The flowers are small and pink with a very faint fragrance, but it's very pleasant to smell after a while. They are perfect for decorating leaf nests or as a mat under the grass when sleeping..."
She introduced them as if they were her own treasures, gesturing with her paws.
Caleb watched as the two of them quickly found common ground on the topic of "plants," creating a harmonious atmosphere. Even Arya seemed much more lively than usual, making Caleb feel that he had done a very good job of "guiding" them.
He yawned widely, spread his wings and then folded them back up: "Then you guys go ahead, but be careful not to go too far. I... I need to go get some sleep first."
Having said that, he flicked his tail and flew towards his leaf nest, which hung at the highest point of the park and looked exceptionally sturdy and spacious. Soon, even and deep purring sounds came from inside. After Caleb left, Sylph followed Arya through a natural porch formed by hanging vines, past several shrubs whose leaves closed at night. The moss underfoot grew thicker and softer, and the air was filled with a cool, moisture-laden fragrance.
“It’s just ahead,” Arya said in a low voice.
They came to the edge of a small, particularly damp depression where a low-growing moss with leaves covered in silvery, star-like hairs grew.
Amidst the moss, several elegant plants stand tall.
They have slender, dark green leaves, which are now tightly wrapped around the central flower stem.
As darkness fell, the dark green leaves trembled slightly, gracefully drooping down to both sides, revealing the glossy and slender flower stalk in the center.
Immediately afterwards, at the top of the flower stalk, translucent, teardrop-shaped, silver-blue flowers bloomed calmly at a speed visible to the naked eye.
“So beautiful…” Sylph was mesmerized.
“Really!” Arya looked on in fascination and whispered, “I heard that the dew from the Moon Tear Orchid, when combined with the Tranquilizing Flower, can be used to make a very high-grade tranquilizing potion!”
After admiring the Moon Tears Orchid for a while, Arya took Sylph to the "Quiet Corner".
Sure enough, there grew patches of calming flowers that emitted a soft white light and resembled bells.
Not far away, there are also dream-leaf vines clinging to rocks and ancient trees. The vines are covered with tiny, pale pink flowers, about the size of rice grains, clustered into spikes. The fragrance is indeed elegant and pleasant, making people feel relaxed without even realizing it.
These were species that Moran hadn't included in the seed card, and Sylph curiously collected some samples.
The two little ones, one enthusiastically introducing the place and the other eagerly learning while secretly observing and recording, unknowingly strolled around half of the Dragon Nest Park.
Sylph gained a preliminary understanding of the plant diversity here and secretly noted down several places that looked like they had fertile soil, suitable light and humidity, as candidate sites for future "secret experimental fields".
"Almost there, we should head back to Leaf Nest. Although Dragon Hatchling Paradise is safe, Instructor Ysera said that dragon hatchlings need enough sleep to grow properly." Arya yawned.
"Thank you, Arya!" Sylph thanked her sincerely. She went to the Fountain of Growth to drink the spring water and eat two fruits to fill her stomach before returning to Leaf Nest.
Hiding in the leaf nest, he quietly took out the {communication card} and called Moran to let her know he was safe.
[Sylph: A green dragon just came and took me to the Dragon Hatchling Paradise. There are many little green dragons here, and the environment is perfect for planting. Lots of magical plants grow here. After I inquire around a bit more, I can start cultivating the land and begin my grand planting career!]
Upon receiving the news, Moran finally breathed a sigh of relief. (End of Chapter)
