The Queen of Scrolls never admits defeat

Chapter 994 How many children?

The number of nature elves is far less than that of elves from other branches; the Emerald Tribe is already considered a relatively large group of nature elves.

In other forests, although there are still some small settlements of nature elves scattered around, they are not closely connected with the Emerald Tribe and there is little daily communication between them.

As Moran pondered whether he should visit other nature elf tribes, Celine's clear, surprised exclamation came from under the tree:

"Dominic? You've finally decided to bring out your precious barrel of honey?"

She leaned over and saw that Dominic and Celine had already reached the foot of the tree.

Dominic carried a wooden barrel wrapped in fresh vines steadily on his shoulder, while Polly spread a soft straw blanket on the ground and took out a set of elegantly patterned wine glasses.

Celine looked up and saw her, then immediately waved: "Moran! Come down quickly!"

"coming."

Moran leaped lightly off the platform and landed beside Celine.

Dominic carefully placed the wooden bucket down, pried open a corner of the lid with his dagger, and a rich, mellow honey aroma instantly filled the air.

He took the slender-necked flask from Polly, carefully poured in half a flask, and quickly corked it.
"Alright, alright, that's enough for one cup each! The rest... we'll open it to celebrate after the babies are born."

“Wait a minute,” Moran keenly caught his choice of words: “'Them'? How many children have you two had?”

"What are you thinking about!" Dominic chuckled, though the tips of his ears turned slightly red.
"You know how much time and magical energy it takes to condense a cocoon of life. If the two of us dared to conceive several at once, we'd probably still be lingering at the low level right now. How would I even qualify to join the patrol team?"

He paused, his gaze drifting to the canopy of the Tree of Life: "The 'we' I used is because Celine also has a child, hanging on the branch next to our little one!"

Moran turned to Celine in astonishment: "You have a partner now? And you're pregnant?"

Celine shook her head, then nodded:

"I haven't found a partner, but during my studies with Lady Lila, I discovered that she, like me, doesn't plan to find a partner, but longs for the continuation of her bloodline."

So... we held a life-binding ceremony together, and together we formed a cocoon of life.

The timing was similar to that of Polly and the others.

Lady Lila is incredibly powerful. She bore a heavy burden during the process of forming the Cocoon of Life, causing her professional level to drop several levels. Even now, her strength has not returned to its peak…

Celine's voice lowered.

Polly took her hand and squeezed it gently to comfort her: "It's normal to drop levels when nurturing a Pokémon! It will recover in a few years!"

Celine still felt a little guilty. Lady Lila had taken care of her and taken on much more responsibility during the process of nurturing the Cocoon of Life, causing Celine's job level to drop by only one level and essentially providing only a small amount of soul energy. However, she had already made plans:

"...Once the cocoon of life matures, I will take on more responsibility for incubation and nurturing!"

Moran paused for a moment, then raised the glass that Polly had filled; the clear honey wine shimmered with an amber luster.

"Congratulations! You have both achieved your own continuation of life. By the way, when are your cocoons of life expected to mature?"

Polly and Dominic exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with anticipation:
“We asked Chief Matilda to inquire with the Tree Spirit. It should be within the next three months.”

Celine stood to the side, hugging her knees, and said softly, "My and Lady Lila's were from around the same time."

"That'll be soon!" Moran thought to himself. What a coincidence! Polly and Celine's life cocoons matured at about the same time, and Tracy and Vasita arrived in the world of Seran at about the same time. Could it be them?
The honeyed wine was finished, and the night deepened.

Polly was urged by Dominic to go back to the treehouse to rest, and Celine also said goodbye, explaining that she would be picking newly ripened plants the next morning.

Moran watched them leave, then turned around, lightly touched the ground with his toes, and silently leaped onto the trunk of the Tree of Life.

She moved lightly among the crisscrossing branches, and deep within the canopy, five shimmering cocoons of life emitted a gentle pulse.

Moran's gaze first fell on the third branch on the east side.

Polly and Dominic's life cocoon hangs there.

There is another cocoon of life nearby, which should be Celine and Lila's cocoon of life.

She slowly approached, her fingertips hovering about an inch above the cocoon, and closed her eyes to carefully sense it.

A moment later, Moran opened her eyes, looked at the two cocoons of life, and smiled knowingly.

No wonder the timing was so coincidental; she sensed familiar mental energy fluctuations in both of the two cocoons of life.

In the one with Polly and Dominic, there was Tracy's mental fluctuation.

The one involving Celine and Lila contained Vasita's mental fluctuations.

They were both born in the Emerald Tribe, but they were not children of the Tree of Life; they both had their own elven parents.

It was then that Moran realized that not every otherworldly explorer who descended to the world of Seran using the Elf Friend Invitation was a child of the Tree of Life.

"fair enough!"

Vasita is alright; she is the child of a witch and naturally awakens into a witch. Tracy, on the other hand, was born in an era when witches were persecuted in various ways. She awakened from being human into a witch, and her childhood was not happy. Reliving her childhood and experiencing her parents' love again shouldn't be a bad thing.

Moran decided to stay in the world of Seran for the time being. He had to see Tracy and Vashida born with his own eyes and hold his two new fairy friends who had been reborn as elves in his arms!

Once this thought arises, it takes root and lingers.

She even started thinking about how to legitimately preserve images of the two of them as babies.

The world of Thran is not without magical items that can capture images. Memory crystals can store dynamic images, and light and shadow runes can project images, but over time, the images will become distorted.

It's still a bit inferior to the "magic camera" she developed based on Earth's science and technology and Valen's magic.

However, the materials needed to make the magic camera are not all available in the world of Thran, making it inconvenient to use them directly.

"Perhaps we can find alternative materials to make a version of the magic camera in the world of Thran!"

Moran nestled in the suspended hammock on the treehouse platform, directing a quill pen to list the materials she could use on paper.

"I need to prepare a backup plan." She muttered, adding a new column at the end of the paper: "In case the alternative materials for making the camera aren't ideal, magical paintings from the world of Seran are a good alternative!"

A magical painting created with specially made magical pigments can be activated with magical energy after completion, allowing the objects in the painting to move slightly, and even recording subtle sounds and emotional atmosphere during the painting process.

The bard's profession includes the method of creating magical paintings, which Moran learned. (End of Chapter)
