The Queen of Scrolls never admits defeat

Chapter 995 Cocoon Maturation

For the next few months, Moran spent his time either researching the Seran version of the magic camera or collecting magical materials in the forest.

Because it was inconvenient to use the Book of Cards and cards in the forest, she made a special trip out of Emerald Forest to retrieve some {material cards} that were not easy to find in the forest, and also contacted Lilith and Sylph.

[Sylph: Vasita and Tracy, still unborn in the cocoon of life your friend has created?]

[Lilith: So what should they call you after they're born? Aunt Moran?]

Moran: ...

[Moran: Elves don't have those complicated titles and ranks!]

[Sylph: Don't forget to send us photos! We want to see baby versions of Tracy and Vasita!]

Lilith: Me too!

[Moran: Let's trade photos of you when you were baby dragons!]

Not being able to see what Sylph and Lilith looked like when they first hatched was always her regret.

Unfortunately, like Suramaran, the lands of the dragon race are hidden demiplanes attached to the main world.

Even though she is now a high elf and has reached level 20 in multiple classes, she still can't go to the dragon's territory.

Moran would ask the Tree Spirit Mother about the growth of the Cocoon of Life where Tracy and Vasita were located every day.

She received the news of their imminent maturity even before Chief Matilda.

At this point, her magic camera was not yet finished, but the magic paints and canvas were ready.

Moran quickly went to find Celine, Lila, Polly, and Dominic.

"Mom said it will be by noon today at the latest!"

Celine was preparing a recovery potion for the upcoming incubation period when she heard this. Her hand trembled, and some powder spilled onto her hands. Without bothering to wipe it off, she stood up abruptly: "I'll go and call Lady Lila right now!"

“Don’t rush,” Moran stopped her. “I just passed by Lady Lila’s herb garden and have already informed her.”

Celine finally calmed down a bit, her eyes filled with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation: "I'll go get the moss blanket that's drying right away!"

"Okay! Then I'll inform Polly and Dominic that their life cocoons mature around the same time as yours."

Moran released Celine's hand and hurried to the treehouse where Polly and Dominic lived.

Inside, Polly was preparing a bandage for Dominic, who had injured his arm while on patrol the previous day.

"Polly! Dominic! The Cocoon of Life is about to ripen!"

Polly's hand suddenly stopped, meeting Dominic's gaze.

The next second, Polly let out a soft "Ah!" and almost lifted the scissors from her hand.

Dominic reacted very quickly, extending his long arm to catch it steadily.

But he couldn't remain calm either: "It's Moran! Our cocoon of life is about to mature!"

“Yes!” Polly nodded emphatically, picked up the moss blanket folded to the side, and said somewhat flusteredly, “I feel that this moss blanket is not sturdy enough or soft enough. Why don’t we use cotton instead?”

“No need! The moss blanket you wove is the best; it will definitely hold our cocoon of life firmly!” Dominic reassured him. “Let’s go! Let’s hurry over there!”

Soon, news that two more cocoons of life were about to mature spread throughout the entire Emerald Tribe. For the Emerald Tribe, which only welcomed a newborn every few years on average, this was undoubtedly great news.

The elves all gathered at the foot of the Tree of Life without prior arrangement.

Polly, Dominic, Celine, and Lila climbed the branches of the Tree of Life. Beneath their respective cocoons of life, they carefully unfolded the soft blankets, repeatedly tanned by moss and soaked with morning dew, and gazed up at the two cocoons above, radiating a warm glow.

Moran chose to sit down on a nearby horizontal branch.

She had a specially made magic canvas spread out on her lap, and the paint beside her shimmered, ready to paint the moment when the cocoon of life matured into a magical painting.

The first unusual movement came from Celine and Lila's Life Cocoon. It swayed slightly, its smooth surface settling gently into the soft moss blanket.

Lila immediately wrapped him gently in a blanket, and Celine's hand followed. The two looked at each other, their eyes filled with unspoken excitement and caution.

Almost at the same moment, on the other branch, Polly and Dominic's cocoon of life also emitted a faint "click" sound.

Polly's breathing suddenly tightened as she watched the cocoon begin to loosen, about to break free.

Just as it was falling, Polly suddenly found a surge of strength, leaned forward, stretched out her arms, and caught it gently and steadily in her arms before the cocoon completely hit the blanket.

"Polly!" Dominic whispered, only to see her already tightly embracing their cocoon of life, her cheek pressed against it, an irrepressible smile spreading across her lips.

He said no more, but quickly wrapped her and the cocoon together with a blanket, protecting her, and carefully descended along the branches.

Beneath the tree, Chief Matilda held a simple wooden tray with only two small crystal bowls on it, each containing the precious essence of life condensed by the Tree of Life.

Polly and Dominic, Celine and Lila knelt respectfully and gently lifted the moss blanket that wrapped the cocoon of life.

Mathilde used the leaves of the Tree of Life to dip into the liquid in the bowl, her movements gentle and solemn, and carefully applied the essence of life to each cocoon.

The glistening water droplets quickly seeped into the cocoon upon contact with it, causing the cocoon to emit a softer and more stable halo.

“Alright,” Mathild withdrew her hand, “Take them home and hatch them with care. Water them daily with the pure power of nature until the cocoons glow steadily from the inside out. In a few days, you will be able to meet your children!”

Polly hugged the cocoon tightly and nodded vigorously.

Dominic stood behind Polly, his hand gently resting on her shoulder.

Celine and Lila smiled at each other, sheltering their cocoons in the middle.

The onlookers spontaneously parted to make way, their eyes filled with blessings.

Moran did not follow.

She watched their figures disappear into the distance before looking at the canvas on her lap.

Celine and Lila's excitement and joy at catching the cocoon, and Polly's selfless embrace, have all been eternally sealed in the painting by the magic paint as her brushstrokes flow.

On the canvas, light and shadow seem to still be flowing slightly, and the joy is almost palpable through the paper.

She gently rolled up the canvas, touched the tree trunk, and said, "Tree Spirit Mother! Remember to let me know when Celine and Polly's child is about to hatch!"

The tree spirit assumed she didn't want to miss the birth of her friend's child, and gently shook her leaves: "I understand..."

From that day on, Moran never saw Polly, Dominic, Lila, or Celine leave the house again.

They all stayed home, focusing on hatching their little elves. (End of Chapter)
