Meet the Gentleman

Chapter 689: Buddha Returns After Enduring All Kinds of Suffering

Chapter 689: Buddha Returns After Enduring All Kinds of Suffering...

Rumbling--

The end of the Gobi Desert.

There were lightning and thunder, heavy rain, and dark clouds covering the ground.

The layers of black clouds were pressing down, only a few feet above the ground, and were about to press down on the roof of the car.

There was an oppressive atmosphere between heaven and earth, making it hard for people to breathe.

Master Kuci in the car stared blankly at Feng Qingyan, who was completely lifeless. His body began to tremble slightly, and his eyes were filled with shock. After he carefully tasted the two tears shed by Feng Qingyan, he seemed to taste the endless suffering of all living beings in the world...

His heart was trembling and his soul was shaking.

He seemed to understand.

Before he knew it, two tears slowly rolled down his face.

He just knows.

Only when one has experienced all the sufferings of the world, and only when one has great compassion and mercy to save the sufferings of the world, will one's tears contain endless suffering, a touch of sadness and sorrow, and the kindness that the world cannot perceive...

This is great compassion.

Compassion means giving happiness to all living beings with a loving heart.

Compassion means using compassion to relieve the suffering of all living beings.

Great compassion is to relieve suffering and bring happiness, to turn the wheel of mercy to save all living beings and escape from the sea of suffering in this world.

In his heart.

What kind of person is this?

It’s Buddha!
At this moment, in the narrow ox cart, he knelt on the ground with his hands, knees and head, and bowed down tremblingly and with great respect.

Sincerely pleased.

The middle-aged man in gray robe who woke up outside the ox cart felt the endless suffering emanating from the ox cart and was suddenly shocked.

This pain...

It was so bitter that his face turned pale.

When he saw Elder Kuci kneeling down in tears, his heart was suddenly filled with thousands of emotions.

Because this is the most respectful etiquette of Kutuotian.

Five-body cast!

In Kuta Heaven, prostrating oneself is mostly used to worship Buddha or a few highly respected monks. Elder Kuci is a highly respected monk in Kuta Heaven...

He did not expect that such a highly respected person as Elder Kuci would actually prostrate himself before a young man. Who was the young man in white in the ox cart?

What else is worthy of Elder Kuci's prostration?

Even the abbot of Kutuo Temple would not be able to bear the respect of Elder Kuci, nor would he dare to bear it...

It was the first time that he saw Elder Kuci prostrate himself before anyone other than the Buddha.

How can I not be shocked?

But next.

What did he see?
He saw Elder Kuci put his hands together and raised them above his head, then kneel down and knock his head against the feet of the young man in white.

At this moment, the middle-aged man in gray robe seemed to be stunned. He could not believe his eyes and his heart was shaking violently.

This this……

His heart was shocked beyond words, and he felt like he was petrified.

What kind of gift is this?

This is the highest salute to Kutuotian, I bow down to you!
If it was just prostration, the grey-robed middle-aged man could still accept it, after all, there are still people in the world who make people prostrate themselves. Although Master Kuci is the person in Kutuo Heaven who makes the world prostrate themselves...

But pay homage to it.

People like Elder Kuci would never worship anyone except Buddha.

Not to mention a figure like Elder Kuci, even monks at the Arhat level would not bow down to anyone except the Buddha.

So at this moment, the middle-aged man in gray robe stood there in a daze, as if petrified.

This is simply unimaginable.

Who is Elder Kuci?

Elder Kuci is the former abbot of Kutuo Temple, the largest temple in Kutuo Heaven.

The so-called first seat?
They are the leaders of the east and west orders of the temple, and their duty is to lead all the monks in the temple on behalf of the abbot.

That is, they set an example in assisting the abbot of the monastery, preaching in different seats, and instructing the younger generations; they lead the group in meditation and strictly abide by the rules; they encourage the deacons to make the food and porridge fine or coarse; they punish the monks for misbehavior according to the rules; they provide care and farewell to the old, sick, and deceased; all public affairs should be carried out, just like a collar on a garment, or a net with a line...

If it weren't for Elder Kuci, who resigned from the abbot's position because he wanted to travel east to the Great Zhou to spread the Dharma, he would most likely be the person who "spread the Dharma on behalf of the Buddha and continue the Buddha's wisdom" in Kutuo Temple.

He is the abbot of Kutuo Temple.

Although Elder Kuci has resigned from the position of abbot, he is still a highly respected elder of Kutuo Temple.

In other temples of Kudatta.

Generally speaking, as long as one becomes a Bodhisattva, one can become the elder of a temple.

However, in the largest Kutu Temple in Kutu Heaven, only monks who have retired from the positions of abbot and the four major classes can become elders of Kutu Temple. Although there are not many elders in Kutu Temple, and it can even be said that the number is rare, they are all highly respected (very terrifying) beings.

The four major classes in a temple generally refer to: the abbot, the west hall, the back hall, and the hall master.

so.

How could the middle-aged man in gray not be shocked to see such a highly respected elder Kuci bowing down to a young man in white?
I feel like a fool at this moment.

At some point, the rain stopped and the layers of dark clouds dissipated.

The sky quickly cleared up again.

White mist rises.

But between heaven and earth, there was an endless amount of suffering, which made the middle-aged man in gray robe suffer both physically and mentally, and it seemed that even his soul could not bear it.

At this moment he didn't think much, but instead savored the bitterness emanating from the ox cart.

The more he tasted it, the bitterer it became, until it became unbearable.

But he was an arhat (great scholar) of the Kutuo Temple after all. If he could not even bear this suffering, how could he be worthy of being an arhat of the Kutuo Temple?

After a while.

The middle-aged man in gray robe was stunned for a moment, then tasted the food more seriously.

Gradually, he seemed to taste the pain of the struggles of all living beings in the world, the pain of the soul's eternal damnation, and the pain of life and death of the people in the world...

His face gradually turned into one of shock.

He suddenly understood something.

Why would Elder Kuci prostrate himself before a young man, pay homage to him, and worship him as if he were a Buddha?

Because he is such a compassionate person.

It is "Buddha" itself.

At this moment, Elder Kuci prostrated himself and stepped back from the car, still extremely respectful, treating Feng Qingyan like a Buddha.

"Elder, who is this person? Why does he have such great compassion in his heart?"

The middle-aged man in gray robe asked, still unable to believe that the young man dying before his eyes was the "Buddha" he had been seeking in his heart.

Besides, how can "Buddha" die?

After getting off the car, Ku Ci stood up, his face full of piety, lowered his eyebrows and eyes and said: "Donor Feng will make it clear that the initial awakening of Bodhisattvas is equal to the wonderful awakening of Tathagata, so he first mentioned Tathagata and said those who go against the current. It means that Tathagata has already entered the wonderful awakening fruit sea and no longer has to make progress, but he does not abandon sentient beings and turns the boat around to go against the current. And this Bodhisattva is said to have come along with the flow, which means that he has not yet completed his progress and is heading for the fruit sea, entering along the current. Those who enter the state of awakening, the initial awakening of Bodhisattvas and the wonderful awakening of Buddhas are equal, but the difference is that they are going along..."

The middle-aged man in gray robe suddenly felt a sudden tremor in his heart.

However, Elder Kuci had not yet finished speaking, and continued, "The one aspect that always exists is the first and the infinite, as clear as the void. The wisdom of all kinds illuminates the unborn, the beginning and the end of the truth. Only the Buddha exhausts all the roots of sentient beings, which have a beginning and an end. The Buddha also illuminates all of them, including all afflictions and the retribution of all sentient beings. The Buddha's mind with a single thought can measure all the origins. He also knows all the Buddha lands, all the Buddha causes and effects, and all the magical changes of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with a single thought. He dwells outside the inconceivable two truths and is alone in the non-dual..."

The middle-aged man in gray robe opened his eyes wide, as if he was about to leave his body, and muttered: "This, this..."

At this moment, infinite Buddha light burst out from Elder Kuci's body.

Just like shining upon heaven and earth.

"Master Kuci, please beg the gentleman quickly."

Jiuge's face turned pale and he begged.

"Little donor, don't be sad. Donor Feng has already become a Buddha."

Master Kuci put his palms together and said, the sadness on his face disappeared, leaving only joy. He had been seeking Buddha all his life, but he never thought that Buddha was in the world, right in front of him, and in his heart...

At this moment, Kutuotian is suffering from a disaster that has not occurred in a thousand years.

But the Buddha is in the world and right before our eyes, so why should we go to the Eastern Zhou to ask for help?
The Buddha is here.

All troubles will vanish into thin air.

"Become a Buddha? What is becoming a Buddha?"

Qing Mang asked with tears in his eyes.

Elder Kuci pondered for a moment, then said, "To become a Buddha is to become a saint as the Eastern Zhou said. So the two donors don't have to be sad. Donor Feng is not dead, but has become a Buddha."

"Then why can't the gentleman be woken up? There is no sign of life at all?"

Jiuge asked with tears in her eyes.

"This is just the Buddha's body..."

Elder Kuci pondered for a moment and turned to the middle-aged man in gray robes, "Nephew Tuowei, come with me to invite the Buddha's body back to the temple."

"As the elder ordered."

The middle-aged man in gray robe put his palms together and said.

"You are not following my orders, but the Buddha's orders. The Buddha left his body here so that we can take it back to the temple and suppress all disasters..."

Elder Kuci said.

"Suppress all disasters?"

The middle-aged man in gray robe, namely Tuowei, was stunned for a moment, then he was somewhat shocked and said, "Elder, can the Buddha's body suppress all disasters?"

"The Buddha's body can naturally suppress all disasters, and all disasters will disappear into thin air."

Elder Kuci nodded.

"Then we don't have to go to the Eastern Land Great Zhou to ask for reinforcements?"

Tuowei said excitedly.

This eternal night stretches for who knows how many tens of thousands of miles. Even if he could by chance reach the East, how many reinforcements could he bring back?
"My Buddha is right before my eyes, why should I ask him for his teachings?"

Elder Kuci lowered his eyebrows and eyes, looked in the direction of Kutuotian, as if he saw the great disaster that Kutuotian suffered, and said: "Perhaps, it is because I, Kutuotian, have suffered a great disaster that has not been seen in a thousand years that the Buddha will show his Buddha body to suppress the disaster for us."

At this moment, Elder Kuci bowed down to the ox cart and said, "Our Buddha is merciful and compassionate. He relieves suffering and brings happiness. He turns back the wheel of mercy to save all living beings..."

And Tuowei also put his hands together, raised them above his head, knelt down and kowtowed, just like Elder Kuci.

Worship.

After the worship, Elder Kuci walked up to Qingmang, bowed respectfully and said: "Please ask the Qingniu Dharma Protector to join us in inviting the Buddha's body back to the temple to suppress all the disasters in Kutuo Heaven."

After Kuci finished speaking, he held the ox’s horn with one hand, as if he was leading a cow.

He was willing to serve Feng Qingyan as a vanguard.

Because Feng Qingyan is the Buddha.

And Tuowei, carrying the monk with a pale face, followed the ox cart respectfully and devoutly.

"Master Kuci, where are we going?"

Qing Mang said quickly.

"Please ask the Buddha's body to return to the temple, and also ask the Buddha's body to return to the human world..."

Elder Kuci said as he walked.

"Go back to the temple? Go back to which temple? Master Kuci, is the king really not dead? He just became a Buddha?" Qing Mang was a little confused at this moment. After listening to Elder Kuci's words, he could no longer tell whether the king was alive or dead, or had become a Buddha or a saint.

It is very strange and unacceptable that the king suddenly lost all his life.

Maybe not dead.

How could His Majesty die so easily?

"Master Kuci, will the gentleman be able to wake up if he returns to that temple?"

Jiuge asked while crying, her face full of hope.

"Little donor, Buddha will not die. This is just a body left behind by Buddha..."

Elder Kuci explained.

"Wow, it's so bitter. Jiuge feels so miserable."

Jiuge cried.

"This is the result of the Buddha going through all the sufferings in the world. All the sufferings in the world are caused by this. It is naturally painful, and the suffering reaches the heart." Elder Kuci said softly, with a pious face, "However, only by going through all the sufferings in the world can one achieve full merit in cultivation, and only work to benefit all living beings. Great compassion is like clouds, great mercy is like the sea, and it can cover everything. Although it is moisturizing, it is essentially quiet and motionless..."

Jiuge didn't understand, Qingmang didn't understand. But Tuowei was amazed, and looked at the ox cart with more piety.

At this time, all the suffering emanating from Feng Qingyan seemed to spread between heaven and earth.

gradually.

It's not just the air that's bitter.

The source of life, water, became bitter, the fruits on the trees became bitter, and the grains that were grown became bitter.

At this moment, countless people in Kutupa Heaven suddenly discovered that everything in the world had become bitter.

In all the major temples in Kudatian.

Many monks above the Vajra Realm were staring blankly at the sky.

Why has this world become so bitter?
The world of Kuta Heaven was originally bitter and has always been bitter; suffering has never left Kuta Heaven, nor has it left the people.

but.

The people of Kuta Heaven have long been accustomed to suffering.

In this world, all kinds of faint suffering have always existed.

However, for the people who have lived through countless years and generations, they have long been accustomed to it and no longer feel the pain.

Only monks who have reached the Buddhist realm can vaguely feel the various sufferings in the world.

The Vajra Realm can clearly feel that everything is suffering.

But I don't know why.

The world became even more bitter, so bitter that they could hardly bear it anymore.

All kinds of suffering, endless suffering, are in their hearts and souls, making them sad and their souls cry...

Although they are followers of Buddhism, they are unable to save all living beings from the sea of suffering.

We can only watch helplessly as the people are born, die, and struggle in the sea of suffering...

They were heartbroken, but could do nothing.

This Kuta Heaven is the great sea of suffering.

This world is a sea of suffering.

But soon after.

Some monks at the bodhisattva level, however, have tasted the pain of the struggles of living beings in the world, and the pain of the soul's eternal damnation...

From the endless sufferings, we see great compassion.

I saw the relief of suffering.

I saw Cihang reverse the ship.

Then I saw the Buddha.

now.

In many temples, respected monks slowly bowed towards the northeast.

Get on your hands, knees, and head.

Many young monks were shocked when they saw it.

They are unable to experience the various sufferings of all living beings in the world, so naturally they cannot see the great compassion, the salvation of suffering, the return of the Compassionate Boat, and naturally they cannot see the Buddha, let alone the Buddha’s presence in the world.

And all kinds of suffering became more and more intense, and the people in Kutuo Heaven suffered terribly.

The demons on the western coastline of Kutuo Heaven were also suffering terribly.

Everything in the world is suffering.

How can I survive this?

Even if they captured Kuta, what would be the use?

This world is so bitter that their souls are trembling. They might as well go back to the abyss of evil.

"Kill, kill, kill—"

Countless strange and bizarre monsters rushed out from the Demon Abyss in the West Sea and rushed towards the west coast of Kututian.

The monsters seemed to be overwhelming.

but.

The Demonic Abyss is more bitter and more difficult...

At this moment, countless originally kind monks immediately turned into angry Vajra and rushed towards the demons frantically.

The bodies of the monks fell one after another into the West Sea.

but.

However, in the blink of an eye, the bodies of many monks were eaten by the demons, leaving only a tattered and bloodstained monk's robe.

The monks of Kudatian were blood-thirsty.

However, the monsters in the Demon Abyss had already fallen into madness, with only endless killing in their eyes.

All they have left is a mad will.

Kill all living things in sight.

The monks of Kututian defended the western coastline to the death. In order to prevent the monsters from setting foot in Kututian, countless monks died at the claws of the monsters.

At this moment, countless monks were heading towards the west coastline.

The people migrated eastward.

The monks of Kutatian could not hold out for much longer.

It is for this reason that Ku Tuo sent monks to cross the eternal night to the legendary Eastern Zhou to ask for help...

But how easy is it to travel through the eternal darkness?
Over the past two thousand years, how many monks have died in the eternal darkness?

But for the sake of Kutatian and to fight against the crazy monsters, they still sent out many monks to cross the almost impassable eternal night.

This is mainly because.

They met a scholar who came from the Great Zhou Dynasty in the East.

This person's name is Yan Shan.

He became the first person among more than 2,000 people to come from the East to the Western Land of Kutuo Heaven.

At this time, Yan Shan was in Kutuo Temple, with a bitter and helpless look on his face. He would never have thought that he just wanted to travel to the legendary Western Paradise of Kutuo, but the abbot of Kutuo Temple said, "The donor has a predestined relationship with Buddha." He was very politely (hard) kept in Kutuo Temple.

"Buddhist son, today I will give you a lecture."

An old and skinny monk came over, bowed to Yan Shan who was sitting cross-legged, and then sat down cross-legged facing him. At this moment, he did not care what Yan Shan did or whether he was willing to listen, and just talked to himself...

In an instant, Buddha's light filled the sky, illuminating the heaven and earth.

Countless Buddhas were born from the Buddha's light.

Yan Shan only glanced at it, his eyes fixed on a yellowed sutra, silently reading his own Confucian classics. However, the old monk's lecture was so terrifying that it seemed to automatically fall on his mind and soul.

He didn't want to hear it, but it was automatically imprinted in his mind.

This old monk.

He is the elder of Kutuo Temple.

But at this moment, the old monk suddenly stopped teaching.

He suddenly looked up at the sky, silently watching the various kinds of suffering in the sky, and carefully savoring the bitterness of all kinds of suffering...

After a while.

His skinny body began to tremble violently.

When Yan Shan's face was full of bitterness and surprise, he felt all kinds of suffering in the world, which made him a little shocked.

The moment he stepped into Kutuo Heaven, he felt a faint bitterness between heaven and earth.

He felt that everything in the Kuta Heaven exuded a faint bitter taste.

This shocked him.

Not long after, he discovered that the people of Kutuo Heaven did not seem to feel the faint bitterness between heaven and earth.

However, the monks in the Buddhist realm could vaguely feel it.

This surprised him.

I really don't understand.

I don’t understand why the world of Ku Tuo Tian exudes a faint bitterness, and I don’t understand why the people of Ku Tuo Tian can’t feel the faint bitterness...

He asked the monks at Kuta Temple.

But the monks of Kutuo Temple just said that the world is a sea of suffering...

And at this time.

Yan Shan seemed to finally understand.

This world is indeed a great sea of suffering, and everyone lives in it.

Although he was unable to taste the various sufferings of living beings in the world, nor could he see any great compassion, or any relief from suffering, etc.

but.

Suddenly, he vaguely felt that among all the sufferings, there seemed to be a familiar breath.

It seemed to be a breath coming from the East, from the literati of the Great Zhou.

Perhaps someone, like him, has successfully crossed the eternal night and arrived at the legendary native Kutuo Heaven...

The native country of Kutuotian not only has the same writing system as the Great Zhou of the East, but also the same language.

The elegant language of the Great Zhou.

This shocked him and was beyond imagination.

After all, the Great Zhou of the East and the Kutuo Heaven of the West have been in a state of isolation for more than two thousand years.

At this time, the old monk trembled and bowed to the northeast.

"Master Suffering, what happened? Why is the world becoming more and more miserable?"

Yan Shan asked doubtfully.

"I, the Buddha, have gone through all kinds of suffering in the world and have returned to save people from suffering."

The old monk said excitedly, trembling all over.

He clasped his hands together, raised them above his head, and knelt down.

This is still a ceremony of prostration and worship. He not only prostrates himself before the Buddha who has experienced all kinds of suffering in the world and returned to save people from suffering, but also prostrates himself before him...

"I, Ku Tuo Tian, am saved."

"After experiencing all kinds of suffering in the world, I, the Buddha, have returned to the world to help all living beings escape from the sea of suffering..."

At the end of the Kututian Gobi Desert.

Elder Kuci respectfully led the green ox and walked towards Kutuo Temple step by step.

He is leading the way for the Buddha and welcoming his return.

Jiuge and Qingmang seemed to be still in a daze, allowing Elder Kuci to lead Qingmang westward.

now.

They were somewhat confused as to whether the Master (Lord) was alive or dead.

Although the Master (Lord) had no breath, they could feel the Master's (Lord) presence, as if it was everywhere in the world...

It seems just as the suffering old monk said: Buddha has experienced all kinds of suffering in the world and returned, turning the wheel of mercy for all living beings in the world to escape from the great sea of suffering in the world.

Before the oxcart left the Gobi Desert, a series of gray-robed figures flew over, all of them were beings at the bodhisattva level. They looked at the oxcart devoutly, and the wind gently lifted the curtains, vaguely revealing the white-robed figures in the oxcart.

This is the figure of Buddha.

Our Buddha has experienced all kinds of suffering in the world and returned to help all living beings in the world escape from the great sea of suffering.

They stood on both sides and bowed down in worship.

Soon after, more and more monks appeared on the road back to Kutuo Temple.

There were little novices, young monks, and old bodhisattvas. They all bowed devoutly, kneeling by the roadside to pay homage to the Buddha, who had returned from all the sufferings of the world.

as time goes by.

The road back to Kutuo Temple was crowded with devout Buddhists and even more devout Buddhist slaves...
