Meet the Gentleman
Chapter 690 Buddhist disciple Yan Shan?
Chapter 690 Buddhist disciple Yan Shan?
Kutuo Temple.
Also known as Nalanda Temple, Nalanda Temple and Alanta Temple.
It is the largest temple in Kuttapatna and the highest institution of Buddhism in Kuttapatna. It is located in the kingdom of Magadha on the Kutta River.
The Kingdom of Magadha is one of the thirteen immeasurable Buddhist kingdoms in the heaven of Kuṇṭha.
It is also one of the four kingdoms of Kuda Heaven.
Its capital was called Rajagriha.
More than a hundred miles north of Rajgir, there is a quiet and elegant garden called Amra Garden.
Legend has it that the Buddha preached here for three months, leaving behind such sacred relics as the monastery, the Pagoda, the Queli Pagoda, and the Buddha statue of Avalokitesvara.
Over time, the current Kutuo Temple was built.
Kutuo Monastery is huge in scale, with a collection of more than 10 million volumes of books. Buddhist scholars emerged in large numbers throughout the ages. At its peak, more than millions of monks gathered here.
It is not only a holy place for studying Buddhism, but also an important holy place for cultivating Buddhist practitioners and followers.
This place has not only become a holy place for preaching and learning Buddhism, but also an important place for studying logic, phonology, medicine, astronomy and calendar, craftsmanship, agronomy, etc.
It is the Buddhist center of Kudatian.
A holy place of Buddhism.
Look from afar.
Kutuo Temple is like a huge crimson city hidden in the green forest.
There are long corridors around the huge city. Most of the buildings in the city are ten stories high, all built with dark red bricks and white stones, and each floor is about ten feet high.
The crossbeams are made of wooden boards and the roof is made of bricks.
Each temple in the city has nine monks' rooms on each side, each in a square shape and about ten feet wide. In front of the monks' rooms are high doors and windows, but curtains are not allowed, so that they can look at each other and have no privacy.
The back wall of the monks' quarters is the outer wall of the temple, with windows leading to the outside.
The wall is about thirty or forty feet high, and is lined with life-sized statues that are finely carved and magnificent.
Yan Shan also discovered that the roof, eaves, and ground of the Kutuo Temple were all covered with special materials. After asking the old monk about his suffering, he learned that the covering material was made of walnut-sized broken bricks and clay.
After it is covered and flattened, it is coated with lime that has been soaked for many days and mixed with hemp tendons, hemp residues and rotten skins, and then covered with green grass for three to five days. Before it is completely dry, it is polished with talcum powder, and then a layer of terracotta juice is applied, and finally paint is applied, making it as bright as a mirror.
The temple grounds treated in this way.
It is solid and durable, and remains as strong as new even after being trampled on for dozens or even hundreds of years.
Yan Shan held a brush in his hand and wrote down everything he saw and heard, hoping to bring it back to the world one day and let the world know about the Kutuo Heaven behind Tianbi Mountain.
The Kuta Monastery is divided into eight major courtyards, where the eighteen sutras of Mahayana and Hinayana, Vedas, logic, grammar, medicine, and numerology are studied.
The eight major courtyards are divided into monastic areas and teaching areas.
The monastery area is made up of roughly similar courtyards, totaling hundreds of them.
Narrow and cramped monks' rooms are arranged around each courtyard, and there are stone tables, wells and kitchens in the courtyards.
Each courtyard has a corridor leading to the outside.
The teaching area has temples and pagodas.
Monks mainly study Buddhist scriptures in temples, and there are many pagodas scattered around.
These pagodas are divided into several floors, with exquisite patterns carved on the exterior. The niches in the corner towers are carved with stories of the Buddha's preaching in Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Deer Park.
Yan Shan recorded them one by one.
But in the past two days, he found that the old monk was always uneasy and seemed a little anxious.
"Master Suffering, why are you so uneasy?"
Yan Shan asked curiously.
"The Buddha has experienced all kinds of suffering in the world and returned to save people from suffering. How can I be at peace?" The elder Kunlun looked towards the northeast from time to time, as if he was expecting the Buddha to return one day soon.
Yan Shan was not very interested in Buddhism, but he was somewhat interested in what Master Dao Ku Nan said about Buddha.
As far as he knows.
The Buddha of Kuṇṭha Heaven is equivalent to a saint in the holy path.
Could it be that the Buddha has really returned?
Over the past six months.
He also got to know something about Kudatian.
It seems that after the saint retired, the Buddha of Kuttapatta also retired and left Kuttapatta.
If a Buddha really returns now, does it mean that the saints of the Zhou world may also return?
This made him look forward to it.
However, he always felt that it was a little unlikely...
but.
Everyone in Kutuo Temple was extremely excited, waiting for the return of the Buddha. Countless monks even left the temple to welcome the return of the Buddha.
Many old monks have not stepped out of Kutuo Temple for several years or even decades. But in the past two days, many old monks have walked out of Kutuo Temple to welcome the return of the Buddha...
So he had to believe it.
In Kuta Temple.
There are quite a few old monks in the Bodhisattva realm, numbering dozens or even hundreds.
Very scary.
This is just what he knows, and he doesn't know how much he doesn't know.
However, according to his observation, he found that most of the monks in Kutuo Temple did not know how to fight, or even how to fight. In other words, these monks in the Bodhisattva realm had a body of Buddhist teachings, but did not know how to fight, let alone how to kill people...
It seems that there are countless monks who have never killed any living beings in their lives, let alone killed anyone.
In the Zhou Dynasty.
This is unimaginable.
Although there were many old Confucian scholars in the Zhou Dynasty and even in Confucianism who did not know how to fight, let alone battle, they had at least learned a lot of Confucian arts or magical powers.
When in danger.
He also knew how to criticize Confucianism and supernatural powers.
However, many monks in Kutuo Temple might just wait for death when they encounter danger.
He also heard that some monks at the Bodhisattva level died in this way. They had no idea of resisting, let alone killing in return...
When he heard it for the first time, he was stunned with shock.
This is simply unthinkable.
And at this time.
Yan Shan held a brush and a notebook and recorded everything in Kutuo Temple as he walked.
In Kuta Temple.
There are more than a hundred lecture platforms every day, sometimes up to a thousand, with countless monks sitting quietly listening below the platforms...
Generally, one needs to be at the Vajra realm or above before one can go on the podium and preach the Dharma.
However, during these two days, there were fewer pulpits in Kutuo Temple, with only dozens left, as most of the monks went to welcome the Buddha's return.
And at this time.
On the road where the Buddha returned, the place was already crowded with monks, common people, etc.
Wherever the ox cart goes, there will be a grand worship, and countless Buddhists will kneel down to welcome the return of the Buddha.
For the monks in Kuda Heaven, who have experienced all kinds of suffering in the world, suffering is no longer a problem.
This is the Buddha's Dharma.
but.
Jiuge and Qingmang were confused.
They could see the enthusiasm in the eyes of monks and common people, and saw countless people kissing the road where the ox carts had walked.
If it were not for the monks who had reached the bodhisattva realm, such as Elder Kuci, who were guarding the ox cart tightly, the monks and common people who were crowded on the road would have crushed the ox cart long ago.
At this moment, besides Elder Kuci, there were several Bodhisattva-level monks around the ox cart, all of whom were Bodhisattvas from Kutuo Temple. Although many Bodhisattvas in Kutuo Temple did not know how to fight, there were also many Bodhisattvas who were experts in exorcising demons...
In the ox cart.
Feng Qingyan was still lifeless, lying quietly on the table, as if he was asleep.
He was still filled with endless suffering, as if he had experienced all kinds of suffering in the world as the Bodhisattva Kutuotian said...
In fact, the Bodhisattva of Kutuotian was not wrong. He had indeed experienced all kinds of suffering in the world.
He experienced the suffering of the struggles of all living beings in the world, the suffering of the eternal damnation of the soul, and the suffering of countless worlds...
now.
He seemed to be struggling in the myriad worlds, and his soul seemed to be sinking in eternity.
He seemed to have fallen into eternal night.
On the shaft.
Jiuge would occasionally lift the curtain to see if the master wanted to come. But the master remained motionless, without any sign of life... Was he really a Buddha?
Otherwise, why would the people of Kuta Heaven be so fanatical?
So pious?
He saw not only fanaticism but also piety in the eyes of monks and common people.
The ox cart headed southwest.
The terrain of Kutu is low in the north and high in the south. The north is a plain and the south is mountainous.
Among them, the Kutupa River is located in the north of Kutupa Heaven. It is the river of life of Kutupa Heaven and breeds the civilization of Kutupa Heaven.
Kutuo Temple is located in the south-northwest of Kutuo Heaven, only a hundred miles away from the Kutuo River.
The ox cart traveled for several days and covered tens of thousands of miles, but still had not reached the Kutuo River. After several more days, the ox cart traveled a total of more than 30,000 miles and finally reached the north bank of the Kutuo River.
As long as you cross the Kutuo River and walk a hundred miles, you will reach Kutuo Temple.
At this moment, Kutuo Temple was in an uproar.
The city of Rajagriha, south of Kutuo Monastery, was also in a state of excitement.
Countless monks and common people came to the south bank of the Kuta River to devoutly welcome the return of the Buddha.
now.
Even the elder Kukan left Yanshan and walked out of Kutuo Temple to welcome the return of the Buddha.
Yan Shan followed curiously and saw countless monks paving the road with loess, sprinkling clean water on the road, and planting flowers on both sides...
This made him even more curious about "Buddha".
And according to Master Kunlun, it seems that only the Buddha's body is left...
Since it is said that the Buddha returned after experiencing all kinds of suffering in the world, why is there only a Buddha body left? Can it be said that the Buddha returned with only a Buddha body?
Yan Shan didn't understand.
I just feel that the world has become more miserable.
It seems that this suffering is caused by the return of the Buddha...
He once asked the Elder of Hardship, since the Buddha had experienced all kinds of suffering in the world and returned, why did he leave suffering in the human world?
But the Elder of Suffering only said that the world is a great sea of suffering.
The Buddha returned after experiencing all kinds of suffering in the world, but he did not bring any endless suffering with him. This suffering originally existed in the human world, but sentient beings were unaware of it.
The Buddha has returned.
The Buddha told sentient beings...
While Yan Shan was daydreaming, he arrived at the south bank of the Kutuo River.
At this moment, he saw the Bodhisattva of Kutuo Temple, using Buddhist teachings to build a bridge of Buddha's light, respectfully welcoming the return of the Buddha.
When the ox cart stepped onto the Bridge of Buddha's Light, Yan Shan was stunned for a moment.
He suspected that he had seen it wrong.
Isn’t this senior brother’s ox cart?
How did senior brother’s ox cart end up in Kutuo Heaven?
At this moment, his heart skipped a beat. Could it really be his senior brother’s ox cart?
Is this what they call Buddha?
Actually, he is my senior brother?
Yan Shan suddenly felt extremely absurd.
This is indeed Senior Brother’s ox cart. He saw Qing Mang and Jiuge…
At this time he was dumbfounded, how could it be his senior brother?
He looked at the ox cart and at the devout monks and people around him. Could it be that they had made a mistake?
How could my senior brother be a Buddha?
Brother, it’s impossible that you are a Buddha.
Why did you come to Kutuo Heaven, brother?
At this moment, everyone on the south bank of the Kutuo River knelt down, with countless monks and common people kneeling down devoutly. Only Yan Shan was still standing, standing out.
"Buddha."
The Suffering Elder reminded softly.
But Yan Shan seemed not to hear anything. He stared at the ox cart, Qingmang and Jiuge.
Qingmang and Jiuge were stunned when they saw a standing figure among the kneeling crowd.
"Mr. Three?"
Qingmang and Jiuge were extremely surprised.
"Mr. Three!"
Jiuge shouted immediately.
However, Yan Shan, who was on the south bank of the Kutuo River, did not hear anything, but only saw Jiuge's somewhat excited expression.
"Senior brother."
Yan Shan shouted.
However, the sound did not reach the oxcart.
At this moment, Jiuge and Qingmang were a little anxious, and hurriedly walked towards Yanshan on the left side of the Buddha's Light Bridge, but Qingmang found that he could only walk on the Buddha's Light Bridge.
After crossing the Bridge of Buddha Light, it can only go towards the road of Kutuo Temple.
It couldn't stop, couldn't turn left, couldn't turn right.
We can only move forward.
This shocked it so much that it could not help but stare at Elder Kuci.
"The Blue Ox Guardian, it is important to escort the Buddha back to the temple."
Elder Kuci said.
"Young donor, it seems that the man just now is acquainted with you. Is he from the Great Zhou of the East?" Elder Kuci said with some surprise.
"This is the third master of my Zangshan Academy, my master's junior fellow apprentice."
Jiuge said unhappily.
At this moment, he also knew that he seemed to be controlled by the bad old man Kuci and his gang.
"Elder, this is a Buddhist disciple from my Kutuo Temple. Although he came from the Great Zhou of the East, he has a connection with my Buddha..."
A Bodhisattva-realm monk who was escorting the ox cart said.
"Buddha's son?" Elder Kuci was a little surprised, so he turned around and took a careful look, then nodded and said, "It is true that he has a connection with the Buddha, and he is indeed a Buddhist son of my temple..."
Shortly after.
The ox cart arrived at Kuta Temple.
At this moment, all the monks in the temple came out and knelt down to greet him.
And then, there was nothing for Jiuge and Qingmang. Feng Qingyan was taken to the temple in the middle of Kutuo Temple by the Bodhisattva realm.
The feeling of having experienced all kinds of suffering in the world immediately spread throughout the Kuta Temple.
After experiencing this, countless monks seemed to have tasted endless suffering, which shocked them mentally.
Many old monks have realized something.
All of a sudden.
In the Kutuo Temple, the Buddha's light shot up into the sky, and countless golden scriptures floated in the air like dancing butterflies.
And at this time.
Yan Shan immediately went to find Jiuge and Qingmang.
Although he seemed to be very free in Kutupa Temple, he was under the surveillance of the monks of Kutupa Temple at all times.
Mainly because he has not returned.
Refusing to become a disciple of Buddha.
If he is willing to become a Buddhist sincerely, his status can catch up with the four great masters of Kutuo Temple, and his status will be higher than that of the elders of Kutuo Temple.
The Buddhist disciples of Kuta Temple are different from the holy disciples of the Holy Path.
The status of Buddhist disciples is very high.
And this moment.
Qingmang and Jiuge were arranged to live in a courtyard.
"Jiuge, what's going on?"
Yan Shan rushed out with a pale face. He had seen that Feng Qingyan was lifeless and seemed to have been dead for who knows how long.
"Mr. San, woo woo—"
As soon as Jiuge saw Yan Shan, he burst into tears and said sadly, "Master is dead, Master must be dead."
