Konoha: The thirty-year-old Uchiha is not motivated.
Chapter 586 Layoffs? Impossible! I have connections!
Konoha,
After clocking out in class, Uchiha Gin sneaked out and started his usual shopping spree to kill time.
As he listlessly glanced at the shops on either side of him, a familiar figure emerging from a baby store caught his attention.
"Sasipril! Minako~"
"Ah, ah, it's Gintoki, Sasori~"
Wearing a plain-colored robe and holding an infant in her arms, Minako Yamamoto's face instantly lit up with a broad smile when she saw Gin Uchiha waving at her from outside the shop.
"I was wondering why I hadn't seen you for a while. Turns out you've been taking care of your pregnancy!"
Uchiha Gin's gaze traveled down the woman's alluring face, past two mountain peaks, and finally landed on the sleeping baby. He immediately showed an expression of sudden realization.
"Gintoki is joking. This is my grandson."
Despite being misunderstood, Minako Yamamoto showed no anger; instead, her smile deepened, revealing that this wasn't the first time she'd been misunderstood.
"I have to thank you for this, Gintoki. Without your ninja tools, I would probably be an old hag by now."
Holding her smooth, youthful face, Minako Yamamoto, in her fifties, showed no signs of aging.
All of this is thanks to the right decision she made many years ago.
I bought that magical stool from Uchiha Gin.
Don't let the simple design of the stool fool you; sitting on it not only instantly relieves fatigue, but also has amazing beauty and skin-nourishing effects if you do it every day.
Unfortunately, Gintoki only made one of these amazing ninja tools, making it a unique and irreplaceable item.
"Well, Minako, you're one of my biggest clients, after all~"
As Uchiha Gin spoke, he chuckled and reached out to playfully stroke the sleeping baby in Yamaminako's arms.
The Yamanaka clan was arguably the most enthusiastic participant in the lottery event that year, so Uchiha Gin naturally had to give them some benefits.
The stool he casually sold to Minako Yamazaki during the Tailed Beast Pokémon War was actually made from the vines he used to whip the Berserker Armor.
While its effects aren't as extreme as those of a true madman, it still increases vitality.
Of course, this vitality doesn't boost combat power; its main effect is on beauty, as it can delay aging to the greatest extent possible.
"By the way, have you decided on a name for your grandson? Would you like me, the number one name-giver in Konoha, to help him come up with a catchy name?"
"Eyin Sang is probably going to be disappointed. The child's name has already been chosen, Haiyi."
With a loving expression, Minako Yamamoto stroked her newborn grandson, who was just a month old, and said with a hint of regret,
Hai Yi?
Ino's dad was born too!
Upon hearing this familiar name, a look of realization flashed in Uchiha Gin's eyes. Time flies, and yet another familiar character has been born.
"Gintoki? Gintoki!"
Seeing that Uchiha Gin seemed a little distracted, Yamamoto Minako blinked curiously, her voice unconsciously rising a few decibels.
"Sorry, I suddenly remembered some old memories."
Coming to his senses, Uchiha Gin scratched his head and explained somewhat casually,
"I didn't bring any gifts with me when I went out, so this is just a small token of my appreciation."
As he spoke, he pulled out a gold brick from behind his back and generously handed it to Yamanaka Inoichi, who was still fast asleep.
Minako Yamamoto, who was already used to Gin Uchiha's extravagant spending, showed no surprise whatsoever. She smiled and accepted the heavy gold bars for her grandson, then a complex expression appeared on her face, as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Why do you look like something's wrong?"
Noticing Minako's unusual behavior, Gin Uchiha raised an eyebrow and asked directly,
"My lady, I overheard some rumors during a meeting a few days ago."
Minako Yamamoto hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to reveal the inside information she knew to the unsuspecting Gin Uchiha.
"What's the news?"
Gin Uchiha frowned in confusion, his mind filled with questions.
Haven't you been working lately?
Seeing that Uchiha Gin's puzzled expression didn't seem fake, Yamamakura Minako looked him up and down and realized that he was indeed not wearing the Konoha Prison uniform.
"I'm the prison's perfect attendance star, watch out or I'll sue you for defamation."
"How dare you question my work ethic!" Uchiha Gin warned sternly.
"Didn't you hear about the rumors of prison layoffs?"
"what?"
"All employees aged 65 and above are on the layoff list."
This news struck Uchiha Gin like a bolt from the blue, leaving him completely stunned. How could he have been so unaware of such important information?
hateful!
It's all the fault of that shadow clone who betrayed him before. Now, all his clones do is clock in and out. They don't participate in any work at all. They just go to sleep as soon as they get to work and then end their own lives right on time after get off work.
"Phew, whose idea was this?"
Since he overheard it during a meeting, there's a 99% chance this layoff plan was proposed by someone in the Ninja Alliance. Uchiha Gin was seething with rage, vowing to make the culprit who laid him off pay dearly.
"I'm sorry, I can't betray Xian Er."
Minako Yamamoto shook her head apologetically.
"OK, thanks."
"You're welcome~"
You cunning pork butcher, trying to scheme against me! Believe me or not, tomorrow I'll have the entire Land of Waves dedicate its resources to developing the pig farming industry, leaving your pigs to rot in their pens!
“Gintoki, actually this is a good thing. You’ve worked so hard in prison for so many years, you should take a break and think about your life’s important matters.”
Looking at Uchiha Gin's resentful face, Yamamoto Minako gently shook her head.
The two had a good relationship, and she also hoped to see Uchiha Ginichiro before she died, so she could make up for the money she had owed him over the years.
A major life event?
What life event could be more important than brushing steel?
Without the prison as a stable spot to farm steel, he can't exactly take on quests to farm it, can he?
"No, I have to go and talk to the monkey."
Annoyed, Gin Uchiha ruffled his curly hair for a while before finally deciding to go find Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was now in charge of the village's internal affairs.
He had connections both above and below him, so he asked Hiruzen Sarutobi to give him the green light so he could continue to live in prison.
After bidding farewell to Minako Yamazaki, Uchiha Gin, in a less than pleasant mood, leaped into the air and, with a few bounds, arrived at the Hokage Building in the heart of Konoha.
He greeted the familiar guards, then climbed to the top floor, ignoring the conflicted gazes of the two ANBU members guarding the door, and forcefully knocked on the tightly closed door of the Hokage's office.
Bang Bang Bang!
Half a day passed, and there was still no response from inside.
"Mr. Yin, the Hokage and the others are in a meeting."
The ANBU guarding the gate was probably a member of the Ninja Alliance. He clearly knew Uchiha Gin's background. When he saw the impatience on Gin's face, he immediately stepped forward and whispered, "A meeting? All you do is hold meetings all day long. Only incompetent leaders like to hold meetings!"
Upon hearing the word "meeting," Uchiha Gin was filled with rage.
Since my younger cousin left, the Uchiha clan, under the incompetent leadership of Izuna, has been holding meetings every few days.
Every time he rambled on with nonsensical nonsense, he didn't solve any problems at all. After attending a few times, he never went again.
Bang bang bang! ! !
Thinking of this, Uchiha Gin started banging on the door again, this time making a much bigger commotion than before.
Creak~
Just as Uchiha Gin was furiously pounding his fists, the long-closed door finally opened.
A fairly handsome but gloomy-looking man poked his head out, his sinister eyes glaring fiercely at the two ANBU members.
"Are you guys in the secret service just sitting around doing nothing? Knocking, knocking, knocking on you, are you?"
Before he could finish his beautiful Konoha speech, he caught sight of Uchiha Gin standing to the side, his face filled with displeasure. His throat tightened, and he couldn't utter a sound.
"Why are you here? We're having a meeting right now."
After a few seconds of awkward silence, Danzo, looking embarrassed, whispered to Uchiha Gin, his voice tinged with helplessness.
"Elder Shimura, I need to report a problem to the Hokage."
Seeing that Xiao Tuantuan was a bit reserved, Uchiha Gin didn't say anything out of line in front of the Anbu, which was quite considerate of them.
"Wait a moment. No! Please come in!"
Upon hearing Uchiha Gin's deliberately emphasized "elder" and "Hokage-sama," Danzo's buttocks immediately tightened, and he then hurriedly opened the door.
"Danzo, why are you so slow?"
Inside the office, Hiruzen Sarutobi, his face grave, was discussing the sudden situation at the border with the elders he had personally cultivated. Upon seeing Danzo, who had returned after a long absence, he immediately frowned and questioned him.
"Monkey, I don't want to either."
Danzo, looking conflicted, stepped aside, revealing Uchiha Gin who was following behind him. The noisy people in the office immediately fell silent.
"Yin San San?"
Koharu blinked her beautiful black eyes in confusion, her gaze unconsciously falling on Hiruzen Sarutobi beside her, her questioning expression evident.
Did you tell the Uchiha about the mirror?
"Yin San San, long time no see~"
Touching his large stomach, Akimichi Torifu stepped forward and greeted Uchiha Gin with a simple, honest smile.
"I've met Yin San San."
Holding a stack of documents of unknown contents, Mitokado Homura pushed up his nose and respectfully nodded to Uchiha Gin.
“You guys are all capable ninjas now, so don’t call me San San anymore.”
Looking at the three students before him, whose combined cunning was less than Danzo's, Uchiha Gin shook his head with a look of satisfaction.
"Oh? How can that be!"
"There's no question of 'can' or 'can'. You've already completed your apprenticeship, so my task as your teacher is now over."
Uchiha Gin's words make sense. The reason he taught the F6 back then was because he accepted a request from the Senju brothers, and the reward for that mission was to work in the prison.
Now, so many years later, those little kids who used to be so snotty-nosed have become the pillars of Konoha, and he has more than fulfilled his tutoring duties.
It's a pity that his payment seems to be taken back, which means he worked for nothing.
"Why is he here? Did you snitch on him?"
Just as Uchiha Gin was exchanging pleasantries with the others, Sarutobi Hiruzen, looking troubled, pulled Danzo, who had just walked up to him, and whispered in his ear, "..."
"I don't know either, I'm just the doorman."
Danzo was also bewildered. The intelligence from the border was a top secret of the village; apart from him and Hiruzen Sarutobi, no one else knew about it. Even the other elders had only learned of it during a recent meeting.
"Phew, forget it, there's no need to hide this from him."
A glint flashed in Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes. After hesitating for a few seconds, he decided not to hide the message from Mirror from Gin Uchiha.
"cough cough"
So he coughed a few times, trying to remind the people he was exchanging pleasantries that a meeting was in progress.
"Little monkey, I warned you to smoke less, but you wouldn't listen. Don't let this bad habit spread to your children."
Hearing the violent coughing, Uchiha Gin turned his head to glance at Hiruzen Sarutobi, whose face was ashen. Out of a physician's conscience, he immediately offered advice.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
"Thank you for reminding."
Hiruzen Sarutobi, who had been rebuked by Gin Uchiha, nodded with a slightly flushed face, then his expression changed.
The extremely solemn expressions cast a heavy shadow over the entire office, and the surrounding temperature seemed to drop considerably.
"You've come here, so you must know about that matter, right?"
"Yes."
When asked, Uchiha Gin nodded slightly, his expression also becoming very serious. It seems the rumors of layoffs were not unfounded.
"You kept this from me for so long!"
We still have some teacher-student relationship, yet they didn't even inform me beforehand about such a big thing as layoffs.
"I'm sorry, this happened so suddenly, we don't know how to explain it to you."
Hiruzen Sarutobi and the others lowered their heads, their voices filled with deep self-reproach and guilt.
How could they dare announce to the world that Mirror was besieged by the allied forces of three countries at the border? If they did, the Uchiha would definitely be the first to rebel.
"Phew, it's alright, it's not too late. As long as you're willing to lend a helping hand, I will definitely repay you handsomely."
Uchiha Gin breathed a sigh of relief. The layoff documents probably hadn't been issued yet, so he still had a chance. At worst, he could treat the F6 to a meal, a foot massage, and a spa treatment after things were settled.
"Don't worry, we will definitely not stand idly by. Go back and wait for news. We will do our best to live up to your expectations."
Even if Uchiha Gin didn't come to him for help, Hiruzen Sarutobi, as his childhood friend, would definitely go to support his adoptive father, Kagami.
"I'm relieved to hear that. In that case, I won't disturb your meeting any longer. Bye~┏(^0^)┛"
Seeing that Hiruzen Sarutobi was so sensible, Gin Uchiha immediately felt relieved, and his expression softened considerably.
If anyone says anything like "cutting apart upon takeoff" again, he'll slap them twice. Hiruzen is a good kid, isn't he? He hasn't forgotten his roots at all.
"Let's go, don't send it."
After seeing off the formidable Uchiha Gin, Hiruzen Sarutobi let out a long breath, his eyes sharpening in the process.
"Danzo, I hereby appoint you as the vanguard, leading three thousand men to the border immediately to provide support."
"Huh? Where did I come from?"
Danzo was initially delighted upon hearing this, but then he suddenly realized that he only had a handful of insignificant subordinates, and his face instantly fell.
Didn't I give you the authority to hire people?
"Things are getting tense lately."
Hiruzen Sarutobi wore a look of utter disappointment. "I told you to recruit your own men, and you still can't even muster a force of three thousand. You're a disgrace to the title of elder."
"Tsk! I really can't do anything with you. For the sake of our past relationship, I'll lend you three thousand of the Ape Clan's soldiers to tide you over." (End of Chapter)
