This experience brought about a huge change in Lu Yan's mentality. Although he had a more worldly mind, he was not heartless.

On the contrary, he cherished the affection between him and his family even more. He understood that although the path of cultivation was important, the affection between family members was more precious.

In the blink of an eye, another half year passed. Lu Yan's life gradually returned to normal. He went to school, went home from school, and spent time with his family every day, as if he had returned to the carefree days of the past.

It was the first day of the Lunar New Year, and a beggar came to Lujia Village. He leaned against the gate of Lu Yan's house to ask for money. Lu Yan was kind-hearted, so he gave him some money. But the beggar was greedy and asked for more after taking the money.

Although Lü Yan was a little unhappy, he still gave him all the money. But he was a little slow, so the beggar started to curse. Faced with this situation, Lü Yan was not angry, but apologized again and again. The beggar then left with a smile.

After the Chinese New Year, another day, Lu Yan encountered difficulties when he went to the street to buy something. But he remained calm and rational and dealt with it one by one.

Such experiences happened again and again in Lu Yan's life. He guarded sheep, ferried boats, and faced various challenges and difficulties. He was like a brave warrior, constantly moving forward on the battlefield of life.

After a while, Lu Yan encountered another strange thing. One day, he was sitting alone at home. Suddenly, many strange ghosts and gods appeared and wanted to capture him. The sound of shouting and killing was endless.

Seeing this, Lu Yan was not panicked. He calmly asked the ghosts and gods what they were doing. He saw several Yakshas escorting a bloody prisoner towards him.

When the prisoner saw Lu Yan, he immediately shouted, "Lu Yan! Give me back my life! You killed me in my last life! You must pay for my life in this life!"

Lu Yan was not panicked at all. He calmly asked, "Since you were killed by me in my previous life, why are you wearing prison clothes now?"

The prisoner said stubbornly: "You killed me and wrongly accused me of being imprisoned after my death!"

Lu Yan shook his head and said, "That's just your family's words. I can't verify it. I can't even sacrifice my life for you."

Hearing this, the prisoner was not willing to give up. He rushed towards Lu Yan with his teeth and claws bared: "No! I want you to return my life!"

In addition to the prisoners, the Yaksha also helped him and came towards Lu Yan to make him pay with his life.

However, at this critical moment, a loud shout suddenly came from the air, and all the ghosts, prisoners, and yakshas disappeared instantly.

At the same time, a figure fell from the sky and clapped his hands in admiration. Lu Yan looked and saw that it was the old man he had chased for dozens of miles outside the village.

Seeing the old man, he was not too excited but asked calmly: "Grandpa, since I met you, I have encountered many things. Is it related to you?"

Six-eared Macaque was stunned when he heard this. He didn't expect that Lu Yan had already noticed something. But he admired this child even more. He looked calm, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised, and nodded slowly. Then, he slowly said: "Yes, I set ten tests for you before, just to explore whether your character and behavior are upright."

The six-eared macaque stared at Lu Yan with burning eyes, and then asked: "How is it? Do you have any complaints in your heart?"

Lu Yan shook his head gently, his expression calm and firm, and said: "Grandpa, although you have tested me many times, you have not caused me any harm, nor have you endangered the people around me. How can I blame you?"

Hearing this, Liu Er Mihou looked at Lu Yan with a little more appreciation and approval. He stroked his beard and smiled, saying, "Buddhism requires monks to cut off their seven emotions and six desires in order to achieve enlightenment. However, we in Taoism have a different philosophy. We value 'the immortality is hard to come by if the heart is not extinguished'. The test I gave you before was to see if you still have a heart that has not been wiped out by the world besides your heart of seeking the Tao."

"You have always had the desire to seek the truth, but without the test, you will have little hope of attaining the truth in the future. Now, you have successfully passed the test." The six-eared macaque paused, with a hint of expectation in his eyes, and asked, "Now, do you still have the desire to seek the truth?"

Lu Yan did not hesitate at all, his eyes were firm, and he answered loudly: "Yes!"

"Good!" The six-eared macaque clapped his hands, making a crisp sound of applause, his eyes full of praise, and continued, "Although you have the hope of attaining enlightenment, your merits and good deeds are not yet complete. Today, I will teach you a yellow and white art of 'turning stones into gold and silver'. You can use this art to save the world and benefit all living beings. When you have accumulated three thousand merits and performed eight hundred good deeds, I will come to help you become an immortal."

When Lu Yan heard that Liu'er Mihou wanted to teach him such magical skills so that he could do good deeds and accumulate virtue, he did not immediately become ecstatic or lose his mind.

On the contrary, he looked calm, frowned slightly, and after thinking for a moment, he respectfully asked: "Grandpa, I would like to ask, after the gold and silver transformed from stone and iron, will there be other changes?"

The six-eared macaque was slightly startled, and then replied: "After three thousand years, they will return to their original nature."

After hearing this, Lu Yan shook his head again and said solemnly, "It seems that although this magic can benefit the world for a while, it will harm future generations three thousand years later. Isn't this a loss? In this case, it's better not to learn this magic. I don't want to do something that only seeks immediate benefits but ignores future generations."

Being rejected by Lu Yan, Liu Er Mihou was not angry, but laughed loudly, his laughter was hearty and heroic. He looked at Lu Yan, his eyes full of admiration, and said: "Just by your kind heart, the 'three thousand' merits and 'eight hundred' good deeds have been quietly planted in your heart. The key to accumulating virtue and doing good deeds is not the result, but the intention of doing good. You have such a kind heart, and you can expect a great future and achieve something!"

As he spoke, the body of the six-eared macaque shook slightly, and the original appearance of the old man gradually disappeared, turning into his original body. He had a hairy face and a thunder god mouth, and was wearing a Taoist robe. Although he looked a little funny, he had an extraordinary Taoist demeanor at this moment.

Seeing this, Lu Yan was greatly surprised and blurted out, "Great Protector?"

Throughout the Chechi Kingdom, the reputation of the Six-Eared Macaque is as famous as thunder. He often uses various monkey hair incarnations to play "shadow shows" in every corner of the Chechi Kingdom, attracting many people to watch, so he is well-known in the Chechi Kingdom. In the Chechi Kingdom, everyone knows that the Six-Eared Macaque is the first disciple of the Great Master and the Great Dharma Protector, so people respectfully call him the "Great Dharma Protector."

At this moment, Lu Yan also recognized the identity of the six-eared macaque, and was surprised and awed. The six-eared macaque looked at Lu Yan, smiled, and said: "I am here on the orders of my master Lin Nan to examine you. Now, you have successfully passed the examination and have the qualifications to enter the practice."

"However, Chechi Country has its own laws, and you still have family to take care of in the secular world, so you cannot start practicing right now."

"Go back and study hard. When you are admitted to Daomen University, go to Jiuji Mountain and become my disciple. Then you will be my junior fellow apprentice!"

As he spoke, the six-eared macaque plucked out three hairs, handed them to Lu Yan, and said, "These three hairs will serve as your amulet, and also as your credentials for entry."

Lu Yan was stunned for a moment, and before he could react, the six-eared macaque had already stuffed three hairs into his hands. Then, the six-eared macaque flashed, jumped, and instantly jumped into the air, stepping on the clouds and leaving in a chic manner.

Only Lu Yan was left there. He stood there blankly. It took him a while to come back to his senses, his heart full of emotion.

While the six-eared macaque was testing Lu Yan, Lin Nan had already stepped into the sky, left the human world, and went to one of the three pure heavens to visit Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun.

Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun is one of the Three Pure Ones and holds a high position. In ancient times, he also had a well-known name - Tongtian Jiaozhu. He founded the once-popular "Jiejiao", with many disciples and a huge influence. However, Jiejiao later encountered a great disaster and gradually collapsed, with its disciples scattered in all directions. The essence and teachings of Jiejiao were gradually integrated into Taoism and became part of the foundation of Taoism.

Lin Nan soared up from the human world, broke through the clouds, and flew towards the heaven. However, he did not pass through the South Gate of Heaven. Because this Sanqing Heaven is the real residence of the Three Pure Ones, located above the thirty-three heavens of the Heaven, and can be called the "heaven beyond the sky". This Sanqing Heaven has long transcended the scope of the three realms. It is an independent world opened up by the Three Pure Ones, and it is unique.

Lin Nan went up all the way and finally came to the outside of the thirty-three heavens and arrived at Yu Yutian in Shangqing Realm, which is the residence of Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun.

Lin Nan stepped into the Upper Pure Realm Yu Yutian and immediately felt that it was very different from the outside world. He had originally planned to practice the "Three Flowers Transforming into Three Pure Ones", and he had already cultivated the Great Pure Realm. In this Upper Pure Realm Yu Yutian, he vaguely felt that another realm in his body was beginning to stir, and it seemed that a breakthrough was about to occur.

“If I can practice in this kind of environment, the realm of Shangqing will be just around the corner.” Lin Nan thought to himself.

This Shangqing Realm Yu Yutian was opened up by Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun himself. It is filled with his aura and even contains many laws and mysteries belonging to Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun.

In the past, Pangu, the great god, created the world. His original spirit was divided into three, which became the Three Pure Ones. The Three Pure Ones not only represent the supreme power, but also symbolize Pangu's three souls. They communicated with the heaven and earth, and each of them became the three qi of Shi, Yuan, and Xuan. Among them, Yuanshi Tianzun represents the "Shi" qi, Lingbao Tianzun represents the "Yuan" qi, and Daode Tianzun represents the "Xuan" qi. These three qi represent the three different states of heaven and earth.

The Three Pure Ones are worlds created by the Three Pure Ones, which contain their own laws and paths of cultivation. Therefore, the Three Pure Ones are also known as the "Three Pure Ones Holy Land", which is not accessible to ordinary people. Only immortals who have inherited the Three Pure Ones and have reached a certain level of cultivation are qualified to enter this holy land.

At this moment, Lin Nan was in the Upper Pure Realm, Yu Yutian, which was full of fundamental "Original" Qi. Lin Nan had previously cultivated to the Supreme Pure Realm, which represented the Supreme, that is, he had cultivated a fundamental "Xuan" Qi. Now, in this environment filled with "Original" Qi, Lin Nan seemed to see the hope of cultivating another Three Pure Realms.

Although Lin Nan felt something in his heart, he knew very well that this place was the residence of Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun, and he could not practice here rashly to avoid being impolite.

Moreover, as soon as he stepped into the Shangqing Holy Land, Lin Nan felt a powerful will, which seemed to guide him forward invisibly.

Lin Nan was not confused at all. He knew very well that this will must be the will of Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun, who was also the person he came to meet this time.

Following this guidance, Lin Nan walked towards the center of Shangqing Holy Land.

In the center of this holy land, there is a magnificent palace, which is the residence of Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun.

Lin Nan walked into the palace with steady steps. In the center of the hall, he saw Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun sitting there. The Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun in front of him was exactly the same as the statue in Sanqing Temple, except that he had a more extraordinary temperament, as if he contained endless wisdom and mysteries.

Just by looking at Lingbao Tianzun in front of him, Lin Nan felt as if he had glimpsed the mystery of the Great Dao and gained some understanding in his heart.

"Disciple Lin Nan, pays homage to the Grandmaster Shangqing!" Lin Nan knelt respectfully and addressed him not as "Heavenly Lord" but as "Grandmaster".

In Taoism, all disciples can respectfully address the Three Pure Ones as their ancestors. However, how many people really have the courage and qualifications to address the Three Pure Ones in this way?
But Lin Nan had the confidence. Calling him that not only brought him closer to Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun, but also created a deeper connection between the two.

Actually, there was nothing wrong with Lin Nan calling him that. Ever since he started practicing, he had been practicing the "Tai Shang San Tian Zheng Fa". The magical powers he displayed, such as the Golden Light Mantra, and the prayers he chanted were all the power of the Three Pure Ones.

At this time, Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun looked at Lin Nan, his face was as calm as water, making it difficult to understand. His voice was grand and sacred, as if it came from the distant sky: "Lin Nan, Chechi National Master, Taoist disciple, Taoist master in the world."

The gaze of Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun seemed to have penetrating power, and he looked Lin Nan up and down. Lin Nan felt as if he was seen through, but he did not resist, but just stood there quietly, allowing Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun to examine him.

After a while, Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun slowly said: "I already know why you came here this time."

The Shangqing Lingbao Tianzun just waved his hand slightly, and suddenly, a cushion slowly appeared in front of Lin Nan.

Lin Nan looked calm, stepped forward, and sat cross-legged on the cushion. Then, he said respectfully: "Thank you, Master Shangqing. I have many questions in my mind, and I hope you can answer them for me." Lin Nan was smart, and when the time came, he threw out all the confusions on his path of cultivation. These questions included doubts about the subtleties of cultivation methods, as well as explorations of various cultivation tips. Among this series of questions, the most critical one was the doubts related to Shangqing. (End of this chapter)
