Super Bowl Domination
Chapter 1658 One is a lot
Chapter 1658 Not a Single One Missing
Finally, Watt found his voice.
It felt slightly unfamiliar, because this wasn't the Houston Texans' locker room; but a vague sense of familiarity and security eased his tense nerves. Perhaps it was a good thing that it wasn't the Houston Texans' locker room—a fresh start, which meant he wouldn't repeat his previous nightmares.
Watt could vaguely sense the gazes directed at him from behind, which made him subtly straighten his back, open his shoulders, and become more confident.
"The game is not just your game; losing should not be your sole responsibility either."
"We all have a responsibility in today's game."
"It's not that we played badly; we still fought until the very end. But at the crucial moment, we didn't bring the level of performance and intensity we should have."
"Maybe... I don't know... Maybe after finally breaking the regular season winning streak record last week, everyone relaxed; maybe our focus was all on the Buffalo Bills next week, so much so that we overlooked the ability of our division rivals; maybe we've become numb from winning so many games..."
"I don't know, because I didn't experience those winning streaks or the Super Bowl, so you guys should tell me."
A small self-deprecating remark caused a low murmur of laughter to fill the locker room.
Li Wei's lips curled up in a smile. "If this is our reason, then what is your reason for poor performance?"
Watt spread his hands and shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe I'm not as good as I thought I was. Maybe I should abandon my old way of playing. Maybe I need help from my teammates. Maybe I should work on my team's tactics more. If you want to find reasons for me, there are too many flaws."
This was more than just self-deprecation; the laughter that had just begun quickly subsided.
Watt noticed.
Watt waved his hand, "Don't worry, I'm always watching those attacks and comments on social networks. Even if I don't want them to, they'll still appear in front of me, so newbies are smart and never use social networks."
"What I mean is, I'm not the JJ Watt I used to be. I need to be a part of the team. I need to cooperate with the team's tactics within my capabilities. I hope I can be a driving force for the team, not a burden or an obstacle."
Those attacks and those injuries ultimately touched Watt. No matter how strong and resilient Watt may seem, he is still made of flesh and blood.
Then, Watt noticed the commotion behind him.
Turning around, Watt saw Chris Jones and Frank Clark standing silently behind him, without saying a word or making a move, simply standing quietly behind him, showing their silent support through their actions.
This was the Kansas City Chiefs' locker room, where a silent yet powerful force forged an unbreakable bond between them.
A warm feeling washed over him; more than ever before, Watt was certain that joining the Kansas City Chiefs was the right decision.
Watt let out a soft breath and looked at Levi again. "I mean, we need to face the situation together."
"I wouldn't call it a predicament, because it's just a game, and one game is far from enough to put us in a predicament."
"The season is long, and we still have a lot of time to adjust and many challenges to face. If we don't want the current situation to turn into a predicament, we need to unite and face this defeat and those attacks together."
"Newbie, you're not alone."
After a pause, Watt looked at Levi with a sincere expression. If words were not enough to express his true feelings, then he would convey them with his eyes and expressions.
"If the media and fans want to criticize us, you don't need to and shouldn't face it alone. Let them criticize me. I'm an obvious target. They're welcome to attack me. Don't worry, I'm not a Barbie doll. I won't break down because of some attacks from losers on the internet."
Watt knew perfectly well that the attacks on social networks were not as simple as they sounded; those words were pure hatred, naked hatred, not just personal attacks, but even aimed at the depths of the soul.
But Watt still stepped forward, because he knew he had to; he couldn't let Levi face that vicious and cruel hatred alone. Then, out of the corner of his eye, Watt noticed a figure stepping forward—
It's Kelsey, "and me."
With her head held high and chest out, Kelsey confidently raised her chin, a broad smile on her face.
Hill watched Kelsey's retreating figure and muttered in frustration, "Damn it, Travis, you beat me to the cool thing. What am I supposed to do?"
Muttering to himself, Hill took a step forward and raised his right hand high. "Me too. If they're not happy, let them criticize me all they want."
Brilland squeezed through the crowd, jumping up and down twice, "Me, me, and me."
Chris Jones silently took two steps forward and stood side by side with Watt. Although he didn't say anything, Chris Jones' bright eyes had already betrayed his emotions.
One, then another, and yet another.
One by one, they stepped forward, heads held high, chests out, shoulders open, and in the blink of an eye, they formed a bustling, crowded mass, conveying their inner sincerity through their actions.
Mahomes, who had been standing beside Levi, was now also full of passion and enthusiasm. He patted Levi on the shoulder, took a step without saying a word, and joined Watt, Kelsey and the others. He turned to look at Levi, his smile wide open, straightened his chest, and spoke loudly.
"And I."
One gesture, one sound, that's all, but Mahomes had never been so happy or grateful to be a member of the Kansas Chiefs.
Kelsey nudged Mahomes on the shoulder and muttered a complaint, "You sneaked over here without any brotherly loyalty. You owe me a meal."
Before Mahomes could refute or defend himself, Kelsey had already raised his voice and shouted, "Yes, yes, condemn the quarterback! The quarterback should be the target!"
Haha, a burst of laughter erupted.
Li Wei stood there, quietly watching the scene unfold. It wasn't that he didn't want to speak, but rather that he didn't know what to say. A thousand words surged within him—a mix of emotion, happiness, and passion—but for the first time, Li Wei didn't know how to express his feelings in words.
Kelsey noticed and was the first to chime in, "Hooray! The newbie's going to cry! The newbie's going to cry!"
Despite being teased and ridiculed, Li Wei remained unfazed, spreading his hands with a frank expression. "You talk as if you've never seen it before, but I don't think you've ever witnessed me throwing a punch while crying. How about it, do you want to experience it?"
Kelsey: ...
Hahahahahahaha.
Everyone around burst into laughter, pointing at Kelsey and kicking her while she was down.
Kelsey was speechless, but this time, he didn't refute it. Instead, he looked at Levi and a smile appeared on his lips.
"Rookie, do you remember?"
“You said rugby is a team sport, that no one can be a superhero who saves the world, and that no one should have to shoulder everything alone.”
"You used to always be the one standing in front, blocking all the attacks for us and leading the team forward; now it's our turn to enjoy the spotlight, isn't it?"
"We face victory together, we face defeat together, and we can't leave anyone behind, right?"
