Chapter 295: The car production line arrives, Shenzhen speed strikes
Jiang Hui has been staying in the capital for some time, but it has not affected the rapid development of BMW in Shenzhen.
Part of the factory building has been built and is ready for equipment installation.
Among all the cities in the country, only Shenzhen can achieve this speed.
If you go to a state-owned enterprise for construction in other places, you may not see any workers when the time comes.
If you want to get things done in such a short time, it is meaningless to talk about other things unless your connections are strong enough.
"Director Jiang, the production line of Suzuki Motor has arrived in Gangcheng, and is now preparing the customs clearance procedures for importing to Shenzhen."
"It is expected to be officially shipped to the factory next week."
Just when she was sleepy, she found her pillow. At this moment, Fang Huihui reported a good news to Jiang Hui.
Although the purchase of a used car production line from Suzuki Motor had been decided long ago, there were still many uncertainties before the equipment arrived.
Especially during this equipment procurement process, Austin has done a lot of activities in it, and the possibility of a sudden collapse at that time is not zero.
Now the equipment has arrived and the biggest problem has been solved.
"Can those retirees recruited from Japan, as well as the installation instructors that Austin helped coordinate and arrange, arrive as planned?"
Now that the equipment is in place, if you want it to work to its full potential, it naturally requires people to install the equipment and guide its use.
Otherwise, the equipment will really become a pile of scrap metal.
Even during this process, BMW Technology has to determine through the installation of the equipment whether Suzuki Motors has tampered with the equipment when it was disassembled.
For example, a core component of a key device is broken or missing.
At that time, your device will become unusable, or you will need to purchase accessories at a high price before you can continue to use it.
That would be very depressing.
Domestic manufacturers have also suffered similar losses in later generations.
Don't think that companies in developed countries really abide by contracts and that there won't be any problems after signing a procurement contract.
That's just conjecture.
"The retired personnel recruited have been settled in Gangcheng, and they have received several trainings in Shenzhen. Some of our Shenzhen staff have also received several trainings in Gangcheng headquarters."
"As for the technicians arranged by Suzuki Motor to assist in the installation of the equipment, they will all arrive in half a month and complete the assembly of the equipment within this year."
"The next step will depend on when the design work for the BMW Light is completed."
Fang Huihui is still very reliable in doing things.
All the things that were arranged before are now being implemented as planned.
She herself also cherishes such an opportunity.
Although she was originally a middle-level manager in her company in Hong Kong, it was simply impossible for her to be in charge of a large company.
BMW Technology is now much larger than many companies in Hong Kong cities, and its future prospects are even more worth looking forward to.
In time, it is entirely possible that BMW Technology will become the largest industrial enterprise in Hong Kong.
And her status in the Hong Kong business circle will naturally rise.
Not to mention anything else, even if the relevant departments in Shenzhen are holding a meeting now, she has become an indispensable presence among the entrepreneurs in Hong Kong City.
Some bosses who were originally high and mighty also took the initiative to get close to her.
This is all because she became the general manager of BMW Technology.
BMW Technology’s two biggest moves so far are becoming a shareholder of Chaoyang Motorcycle Manufacturing Plant and investing in BMW Automobile.
The previous project was considered a success and has now become the largest motorcycle company in China.
The latter project is progressing smoothly and its prospects are very promising.
"The design work of the BMW Light is being carried out in an orderly manner. Except for the engine, which will be finalized a little later, the design of other parts can be completed this year, and then the supporting factories will start to produce samples."
“At that time, we can first test the production line with handmade samples and start recruiting production line workers to familiarize themselves with each process, which is also time-consuming.”
Jiang Hui's words made Fang Huihui feel relieved.
Whether the BMW Light can be designed successfully is related to the future of BMW cars and also to her future.
As for the training of workers, she was not particularly worried.
Although China's automobile industry is underdeveloped, it has done a good job in training workers.
She is not too worried whether it is to poach some workers who retired early from various automobile factories or to train them from scratch.
On the contrary, Jiang Hui himself has some concerns in this regard.
The automobile industry is not only a technology-intensive and capital-intensive industry, but also a labor-intensive industry.
The second-hand production line of Suzuki Motor has a relatively low degree of automation, and many processes are completed manually by workers.
Not to mention other things, just the welding workshop alone, many automobile factories in later generations have two to three hundred welding robots in their welding workshops, and more than 80% to 90% of the welding work is done by robots.
This not only has high production efficiency, but also has quality stability that cannot be matched by manual welding.
However, the production line that BMW Technology purchased from Suzuki Motor has less than ten welding robots in the welding workshop. Except for the use of some welding robots to assist in welding when putting together major components such as the floor and side panels, all other welding work is done manually.
You know, there are a lot of welding points on a car's body in white, and the welding workshop alone requires hundreds of workers.
Recruiting welders who are skilled in using welding guns, or training welders who are proficient in welding technology, is not something that can be accomplished in a day or two.
Fortunately, BMW still has time, and Chinese workers are particularly hardworking.
Especially since BMW offers sufficient salary, everyone's enthusiasm for learning is definitely very high.
In the following period of time, Jiang Hui brought Hou Guoming and a group of technical personnel directly to Shenzhen to personally follow up on the installation of the production line.
Those Suzuki technicians were a little arrogant at first and would leave work immediately after the working time was up.
However, after Jiang Hui skillfully used Japanese to point out several places where their installation was not so standard, or where the equipment could be improved, showing his extremely high level of professionalism, those people's attitudes immediately became much better.
"Director, although these equipment are second-hand, they are still much more advanced than many of the existing equipment at the Capital Automobile Manufacturing Plant."
Hou Guoming is very familiar with the situation at the Capital Automobile Manufacturing Plant. Now, watching the equipment being assembled at the BMW plant, he has a more direct understanding of the differences between the two production lines.
"The equipment at the Capital Automobile Manufacturing Plant was all pieced together more than a decade ago."
"Although Suzuki Motor's production line has a history of more than ten years, the equipment purchased at the time of investment was still of international mainstream level. So it is normal that it is more advanced than domestic ones." Jiang Hui was not surprised at all by Hou Guoming's discovery.
Over the past twenty years, the pace of equipment renewal in various factories in China has been relatively slow, or even non-existent.
In addition, the equipment level at that time was far from the international advanced level, which has led to a large gap between the equipment level of domestic projects and the international advanced level.
This gap will not be gradually narrowed until the 21st century.
After 2020, the equipment in China's factories has become more advanced than that of mainstream international manufacturers, which can be said to be a very accurate interpretation of the saying "Thirty years in the east, thirty years in the west".
However, for today's BMW cars, this second-hand production line is sufficient.
If utilized well, it will be no problem for BMW to develop an annual production capacity of 12 or even 24 vehicles in China.
Anyway, most of the equipment is in operation 24 hours a day without any breaks.
Except for the time when equipment is being repaired, we are working all the time throughout the year.
As long as the money is paid, the workers will have absolutely no objections.
Ordinary workers can only earn 20 to 30 yuan a month now. But in Shenzhen, because there are many foreign-funded factories, any worker can earn 50 to 60, or even 80 to 90 yuan a month.
This is also an important reason why many people take risks to come to Shenzhen to work.
The issue of setting workers' wages was also discussed specifically within BMW.
Considering that most of the other factories are various garment factories, toy factories and other factories with relatively low technical content.
In this case, the requirements for workers needed by BMW are naturally higher.
Without a junior high school diploma, you won’t get a BMW.
But since the requirements are high, the salary must naturally keep up, otherwise it will be difficult to recruit good workers.
The starting salary is 100 yuan, and the maximum salary you can get is 1000 yuan.
That's more than three times the salary in the capital region.
For third- and fourth-level workers who have special skills, they only earn about 40 yuan a month in their original factories.
But at BMW, you can get a monthly salary of around 200 yuan, which is absolutely attractive.
As for the impact of this wage increase on automobile production costs, it is almost negligible.
As long as the cars of this era are produced, they will definitely make huge profits.
When Volkswagen's Santana was mass-produced in Shanghai in the 20s, the price went straight to over yuan, and the final landing price exceeded yuan.
You have to know that in an era when people with an annual income of 10,000 yuan are considered super rich, a price of more than 200,000 yuan is definitely a sky-high price among sky-high prices.
The key point is that even a Santana with such a sky-high price is hard to come by.
Sometimes you can't buy it just because you have money.
It is conceivable that as long as BMW develops as quickly as possible, it can get a share of the pie.
"These facilities are just the beginning. In the future, we will have the second, third and fourth factories at BMW."
"Various production lines will become more and more advanced, and in the future we will even build the world's most technologically advanced automobile factory."
When Jiang Hui said these words, he didn't feel that there was any truth in them.
But Hou Guoming and others may not think so.
But Jiang Hui is the factory director, so even if they have questions, they won’t always speak them out.
Because various equipment were marked very carefully when disassembled, and some equipment was only partially disassembled, and not every small part was disassembled.
This greatly reduces the time spent on reassembly.
By the end of December 1982, most of the equipment had been assembled.
Of course, the fast speed is closely related to the fact that automobile factories of this era do not have so many advanced equipment.
Otherwise, some large equipment may take one or two months to install.
"Director, the drawings of the engine's various parts have been designed according to your previous arrangements."
“However, we need to make some adjustments to the tolerances and surface roughness of some parts based on the results of the first sample test.”
After leaving the Capital Internal Combustion Engine Factory, Hu Shuiwen joined BMW and received an extremely high salary of 1000 yuan a month.
This is just the beginning.
Jiang Hui promised that after the family building was completed, he would be allocated a 120-square-meter three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment.
Otherwise, he would be doing a good job as the director of the design department of the Capital Internal Combustion Engine Factory and would not be willing to leave the job easily.
Of course, Hu Shuiwen did not come to BMW simply because of the good benefits, but more because of his yearning for internal combustion engine technology.
The engines previously produced by the Capital Internal Combustion Engine Factory were all based on drawings and data obtained from Polar Bear. The subsequent production of engines for the new BJ212 and Hummer military vehicles was a result of technical upgrades completed under the guidance of Capital University of Technology and Jiang Hui.
Hu Shuiwen knew that it was not realistic to develop a new engine relying on their own strength.
And the factory does not support such large-scale investment in research and development.
But it’s different when it comes to BMW.
Jiang Hui has clearly stated that BMW will first develop a 1.5L engine, and later develop 2.5L and 3.5L V6 engines.
Even larger displacement engines will be considered.
This is very attractive to Hu Shuiwen.
In China, he knew that only BMW under the leadership of Jiang Hui could realize such an exaggerated new engine research and development plan. He knew that it was impossible for other factories, even FAW and Second FAW.
So he finally chose to join BMW.
"Some space has been reserved for the installation of new equipment in the die-casting workshop of the engine factory. If some die-casting parts cannot be produced by external supporting factories, we will produce them ourselves in the future."
"Mr. Fang has already arranged for someone to go to Japan to negotiate with the equipment manufacturer about purchasing advanced die-casting equipment."
Jiang Hui knew that for engine research and development, how to design was one problem, and turning parts from drawings into real objects was another problem.
Various material selections, heat treatment processes, machining accuracy, etc. will affect the performance of parts.
