Warhammer: Angron Training Manual
Chapter 466: Webway Tactics
Chapter 466: Webway Tactics
"This is the Webway, a method of faster-than-light travel that does not rely on the Warp at all."
"Stability is just one of its advantages. It's even faster than sub-space travel."
Uslan reached out his hand and touched the golden barrier of the webway.
The Webway barrier ripples.
The ripples spread out in circles, and finally emitted a sound that reverberated directly into the depths of the Primarchs' souls, giving people the illusion that they were "as if they were inside some kind of creature".
Qin Xia only had a slight understanding of the Webway. Now that he had truly seen the internal environment of the Webway, nothing was new to him.
Even being in the cybernetic environment itself made Qin Xia feel like he was in a strange environment. This feeling was neither comfortable nor unpleasant, just strange and weird.
"If we humans find a way to enter the Webway, can we get rid of the threat of the Warp once and for all?" asked Perturabo.
Angron wanted to ask this question as well, but when the Lord of Steel asked and Uslan's answer came to his mind, he immediately felt helpless and trapped.
"Of course not." Uslan shook his head gently, his tone sincere and a little helpless, "First of all, no young race can figure out the entire structure of the Webway, let alone sort out every route of the Webway."
"Younger races? You mean humans?" Perturabo asked again.
"No." Uslan smiled, "I mean all races except the Old Saints. Compared to them, my race is young and immature."
Perturabo sneered. He thought that Uslan's words were just a lie. If even the Eldar, a race of servants of the Old Ones, couldn't understand the Webway, then no race could. The Alien Prophet might have just thought so when he said, "Don't try to target us Eldar."
But Angron sensed that what Uslan said was true.
In the stories of the galaxy's past told by his adoptive father, the Eldar were described as "powerful and ancient". In the heyday of the species, humans had created many creations that seem like miracles to humans today, but humans did not rule the entire galaxy in their heyday.
In that era, there was the Ancient Elf Empire, and they were the overlords of the galaxy.
The War in Heaven ended, the Old Ones were extinct, the Necrons fell into sleep after defeating the Star Gods, and the Eldar became the heirs to the Old Ones' legacy.
To this day, the Eldar themselves do not know how to build the Webway. Being able to use the Webway is already the limit of the limit. Sometimes the Eldar cannot even use the Webway to reach their destination, and have to use warships that are like sailboats to ride the wind in the Warp.
"It is true that creatures of the Warp cannot break through the barrier and enter the Webway, but the Webway is not indestructible."
"Some damaged webways have become playgrounds for Warp creatures."
Uslan continued.
Mortarion asked in a muffled voice: "Isn't the Webway said to be able to intercept all Warp creatures? Isn't it absolutely safe? How come some Webways can become a playground for Warp creatures?"
"Do you know the Curtain?" Uslan asked back.
After Mortarion nodded, the Alien Prophet said, "The same is true for the Veil and the Webway. Theoretically, it is impossible for Warp creatures to break through them. But what if there are traitors in the real universe and the Webway? It may be difficult to break the Webway from the inside, but it is definitely not impossible."
"In short, this is the Webway." Uslan opened his arms and looked up at Angron. "I will fulfill my previous promise and stay with you to help you use the Webway. Believe me, this will gain a strategic advantage in the war for the Ullanor Empire."
The Primarchs either remained silent or nodded.
Even Lorgar was silent, unable to deny the fact that the Webway would provide a huge advantage in the war to come.
"Don't you want to try it first?" Uslan said.
The Primarchs looked at each other.
Angron and Qin Xia also looked at each other, and then mentioned to Uslan: "There is a galaxy under siege on the war material supply line. I have dispatched reinforcements, but if we can appear directly there..."
"Let's act now." Wu Silan glanced at Qin Xia, "Speed is of the essence in war, isn't it?"
……
The Imperial fleet regroups in the Krako system.
Eldar ships disguised as human vessels appeared in the system and quietly merged into the fleet.
After the Eldar were ready, Uslan's face appeared on the communication panel on the command deck of the Resolute Resolve, and he nodded silently to Angron who was standing on the command deck.
Angron looked back at his adoptive father.
Qin Xia was also on the flagship command deck, remotely cooperating with the think tanks on the White Knight to perform a psychic ritual.
“Prophet.” Angron looked back at the comm panel. “We will proceed with the Webway voyage when we are ready.”
"You want to use a psychic ritual to deceive all the navigators, right?" Uslan could easily sense what Qin Xia was going to do.
The flow of psychic energy is even visible to the Eldar.
The Primarch and Qin Xia did not deny it.
"Humans hate aliens," Angron said frankly, "Our cooperation must be carried out in secret. And this Webway voyage must also be a secret... You know this, so you drove a ship that can be disguised as a warship of our race."
Uslan smiled but didn't say anything.
Everyone on the command deck was shielded by Qin Xia's psychic power and they could not hear what the Primarch said.
After a moment, Qin Xia and the think tanks completed their preparations.
"Give the order." Angron turned back to the communications officer, "Order all ships to prepare for warp travel."
After the Primarch gave the order, the portholes on the flagship's command deck began to slowly fall.
Every ship in the huge fleet also closed its portholes after receiving the order.
Just like every time they sailed through the warp, the navigators inside all the warships rushed to their work stations amid the alarm, ready to use their third eyes to reveal the route in the warp as usual.
Uslan was in the Eldar ship, and no one knew what means he used. Anyway, after a brief silence while the fleet was ready, a golden light gradually unfolded in the void and expanded to an astonishing scale.
A huge fleet consisting of more than 2,000 ships entered the golden light and jumped out of the real universe just like when they came to the Krako galaxy before, but the destination they were heading to was not the subspace but the gap between the real universe and the subspace.
All the ships' portholes were sealed.
Most people in the fleet had no idea what happened after the Primarchs met the aliens and walked out of the gate.
Only a handful of high-ranking members of the Navy knew what the Primarchs had agreed to with the xenos, or what the fleet had entered. They would take these secrets to their graves.
All the navigators fell asleep at their work stations. They thought that the fleet had entered the subspace and that they had helped the fleet and the warships see the road ahead while the fleet was sailing. And for some unknown reason, the route they saw was extremely safe and the journey was short.
The fleet entered the webway and began sailing.
At this time, Angron could no longer sense or see the "Giant Eye". That essence always accompanied him when he entered the subspace, so now he suddenly could not sense the existence of the essence, and he felt a sense of loss in his heart.
"Safe and stable." Qin Xia used his psychic vision to survey the entire fleet. "No crew member on any ship has gone crazy, and no Geller position on any ship has failed. During this voyage, the probability of a superluminal accident will be zero."
"This is the Webway." Angron suddenly understood one thing, that is, why the Emperor was so obsessed with the Webway.
In fleet affairs, FTL accidents are extremely common.
For every warp voyage there's always someone on a ship going mad, or chaos breaking out on a ship that's been handling ship affairs roughly, or a ship breaking down for no apparent reason.
None of these situations will occur when using the web channel.
As Uslan said earlier, this security and stability is even the smallest of the advantages of the Internet.
The entire fleet rushed back from the Krako galaxy to the galaxy that needed support. The journey that originally required a long time to prepare and at least a month of sailing was completed in less than a week.
As the fleet left the Webway and entered the real universe, the Ullanor Empire fleet besieging the supply system was conducting orbital bombardment around the planet.
More than two thousand human empire warships emerged from the webway.
There was no rest at the end of the warp voyage, nor any warp voyage accidents to deal with. The Human Empire fleet rushed straight towards the greenskin fleet in front the moment it left the webway.
The enemy is not large, with only about a hundred ships.
The entire void war was uneventful and was just a crushing battle, but the Primarchs seriously discussed this void war in their communications.
The faces of all the Primarchs appeared on the communication panel.
The Primarchs have realised the benefits of the Webway.
Just like in this war, the original plan to send a small fleet to provide support can be canceled directly. The entire fleet can return to defense directly through the webway without delaying the opportunity to fight. According to the original combat strategy plan, even if the fleet stays in the galaxy for a week before returning to the Krako galaxy, it can still return to the front line of the war in time and continue fighting.
With the primarchs all reaching a consensus, the next focus of discussion was on how to utilize the Webway and develop a set of Webway tactics for use in the war against the Ullanor Empire.
"We don't need to worry about the supply lines anymore." Mortarion said the plan he had just thought of, "All warships should take enough supplies and go directly along the webway to the core of the Ullanor Empire, and then kill the alien chieftain Ullanor Urag. It's that simple."
"There is no need to worry about the other brothers. It doesn't matter whether they come or not, whether they join the battle or not."
"The six of us will take care of the Ullanor Empire."
As he spoke, Mortarion glanced towards the lower right corner.
The Lord of the Death Guard looked at the communication frame where Uslan was located and said, "Don't tell me there is no webway exit in the core of the Ullanor Empire. If you really want to express your sincerity, instead of using some disgusting and despicable means to make things difficult for us."
"It's true that there is no webway exit in the core of the Ullanor Empire, but it doesn't matter. We can leave the webway in the nearby galaxies in the same way." Uslan nodded, "I think this plan is completely feasible."
The other Primarchs did not speak, but they clearly agreed with the plan proposed by Mortarion.
Angron thought for a moment and shook his head slowly. "If it was at the beginning of the war, then there would be no problem doing so. But the other legions have already assembled and joined the war, and we have to consider them, so I suggest contacting the brothers and the Emperor first."
“And then wait for him to transfer us away and let a few people he prefers take the glory that should have been ours?” Mortarion raised his hand and pointed at the panel. “My Death Guard has never disobeyed any order from you in this war, but I cannot agree with you this time.”
“All legions thirst for glory, brother,” said Angron.
"As you wish, Master of Balance." Mortarion stood up from the communication frame, his face close to the communication panel, making his cold face look particularly large. "You are not qualified to command the five of us. It is all of us who choose to support and trust you."
When Mortarion wanted to continue speaking, Eleven suddenly spoke up and said, "I agree with Mortarion's plan. Time-wasting debates should not continue. The Eleventh Legion will leave with the Death Guard to carry out the largest-scale decapitation operation and end the entire war as quickly as possible."
The 11th Legion has the largest fleet, and this alien-looking Primarch is the most unknown, but his capabilities are far beyond the imagination of other brothers.
Angron shook his head slightly. “Brother, we have fought side by side until now. We cannot break up at this juncture.”
"Fought side by side, indeed." Mortarion pointed at Angron. "You are the Lord Commander of the Great Crusade? You are the War Marshal recognized by the Emperor himself? No? Then you have no power to bind me to your orders."
Angron really had no solution now, because although the Emperor had mentioned the matter of Warmaster a long time ago, the word Warmaster had not been mentioned by the Emperor yet. During the Battle of Ullanor, whether it was for a test or for some other reason, the Emperor still did not mention the Warmaster or appoint a candidate for him.
Mortarion left whenever he wanted, and there was really no reason to restrain him.
At the same time, Angron also understood Mortarion... Dividing interests is not an easy task, and the interests that the Primarchs and the Space Marine Legions care about are actually glory and merit. These supermen really have no motivation to pursue status and wealth.
Only glory.
It is indeed not easy to accept the act of sharing part of the great glory that is about to be obtained.
"We will have a meeting this evening with our brothers and the Emperor," Angron finished. "Please at least stay and attend."
