Warhammer: Angron Training Manual

Chapter 467: Warmaster Competition

Chapter 467: Warmaster Competition

late at night.

No matter where the Primarchs were, they all entered a place of wind and snow at the same time.

Just like when the Primarchs gathered for a meeting during the previous Dawn conflict.

What was different from the last time was that this time the Emperor's figure stood in the ice and snow, his spiritual energy gathered above the wind and snow into a sun-like entity, the surrounding ice and snow melted, and the temperature became comfortable.

The Emperor stood under the sun, watching every Primarch as they entered the snowstorm.

This psychic meeting was not chaired by Qin Xia alone, the Emperor also participated in it. However, this is not surprising. As the commander-in-chief of the Great Crusade, the Emperor would inevitably appear in the war meeting against the Ullanor Empire.

The only thing that surprised the Primarchs was that all of them were present, even those who had not participated in the War of Ullanor were brought, including Magnus who was on Terra.

"..."

The Emperor said nothing.

The vanguard of the Ullanor War, namely Angron, Perturabo, Mortarion, Curze, Eleven, and Lorgar, these six primarchs stood together.

Other Primarchs commanded by the Emperor: Horus, Fulgrim, Rogal Dorn, Leman Russ, Jaghatai, Sanguinius, Ferrus, Corax, Vulkan.

These main primarchs who had just joined the Ullanor War stood together.

The rest, including Guilliman who ran Ultramar, and Magnus, who did not participate in the war, stood together with the other Primarchs.

The Primarchs greeted each other with eye contact, then looked to the Emperor in silence.

"You fought well." The Emperor turned his head and stared at Angron with eyes emitting golden light. The pupil-less eye sockets made it look like he was staring at all the Primarchs of the Vanguard.

After a simple word of praise, the emperor withdrew his gaze.

"Let us talk," the Emperor said softly.

Angron "heard" what his brothers, the Primarchs, were thinking about, all about the War of Ullanor.

The speed of the Vanguard's offensive was beyond the expectations of all the main army primarchs, so Horus and his men were worried that their legions would not be able to keep up in this war and fail to achieve a shining glory.

The Battle of Krako destroyed the main fleet of the Ullanor Empire's navy, and the deaths of dozens of warlords in the land battle caused many areas of the Ullanor Empire to fall into civil strife before the main human forces arrived.

Since the Battle of Krako took place not long ago, the main force still does not know the specific details of the war, nor does it know what means the vanguard army used to make the Ullanor Empire so crazy as to deploy its fleet and a large number of warlords to a galaxy.

Therefore, the Primarchs all believed that the Emperor would talk about the War of Ullanor next, and might first ask about the details of the Battle of Krako.

"I will withdraw from the Great Crusade."

said the Emperor.

When these words reached the ears of the Primarchs, all of them except Angron were quite surprised.

"Father, why is this?" Horus couldn't believe it.

"I have always been the commander-in-chief of the Great Crusade, but now I have more important things to do, so this command responsibility will be given to one of you." The Emperor took a step and walked among the Primarchs in the wind and snow.

Wherever it passes, the snow melts and warmth comes immediately.

The Emperor had no intention of explaining what he was going to do, and he wanted to keep the Webway Project a secret, so naturally he could not tell the Primarchs directly.

But on second thought... the Emperor decided to speak frankly.

"I will build humanity's own webway."

"Strive to free humanity from the Warp once and for all, and resolve the greatest existential crisis facing our species."

As the Emperor spoke, various scenes of the Webway were displayed in the surrounding environment.

Those Primarchs who did not know what the Webway was now know.

Knowing what the Webway is, no Primarch would object even if the Emperor announced that he would withdraw from the Great Crusade.

Because the Webway means a safe and stable means of traveling faster than light, all the current faster-than-light problems facing humanity: time confusion, loss of supplies, navigation disasters...all will no longer occur.

"We all serve the Webway Project."

The Emperor slowly turned his upper body and looked towards Angron on his right.

"The Empire itself is a temporary tool."

"The Webway Project will consume a huge amount of resources, and time is running out. We humans can only use a short time to replicate an ancient race's miraculous invention."

"The Empire was established and exists precisely to acquire the massive amounts of materials needed for the Webway Project."

The Emperor withdrew his gaze and raised his voice.

"After the destruction of the Ullanor xenos empire, our species will no longer be in jeopardy, but the Great Crusade still needs to continue."

"So I will create the title of Warmaster, and will give the authority and responsibility of leading the Great Crusade to the one who bears that title."

After saying this, the Emperor quietly waited for the Primarchs to digest the information he had just revealed.

When the thoughtful expressions on the faces of all the Primarchs were gone, the Emperor turned his gaze to Horus amid the expectations and speculations of the Primarchs.

Horus held his head high and saluted his father who was staring at him.

When the Primarchs heard the word Warmaster, they thought of several candidates.

Horus has a noble character, strong command ability, and likes to help his brothers. Most people agree that he should be the Warmaster. Horus himself also believes that he is the only choice for the Warmaster, that he deserves this title, and is ready to take on heavier responsibilities.

"While my father uses technology and creativity to secure a bright future for our species, I will use my sword to open up a galaxy for mankind where there will no longer be any existential crisis or suffering!"

Horus thought so, expecting his father to call out his name.

"Angron."

said the Emperor.

The Primarchs suddenly looked towards their twelfth brother.

There was no sadness or joy on Angron's face, only calmness.

The reactions of the other Primarchs were quite subtle.

Mortarion, who had just said that Angron was not the commander-in-chief and had no right to restrain him, let out an inaudible groan of pain when he heard the Emperor say Angron's name.

Angron could sense that some of his brothers were against him, for example, Llane believed that his twelfth brother was not qualified to be a warmaster.

Among all the war-related matters, which one is Angron good at?

Some brothers subconsciously thought of the 12th Legion when they objected...

The XII Legion had a terrible reputation - the Dogs of War period.

However, after Angron's return, the temperament of the 12th Legion changed as thoroughly as its name, and its reputation improved significantly, so opponents only thought about the 12th Legion and did not intend to use the evil deeds of the 12th Legion during the War Dogs period to deny Angron.

"Angron knows a little bit of everything, but is good at nothing!"

"His attainments in positional warfare are still less than half of mine, even if I teach him everything I know!"

When the Primarchs were silent...

Perturabo suddenly stood up and came among the brothers, pointing at Angron and speaking loudly to the brothers around him.

"But it doesn't matter. He cares about each and every one of us, whether we are the Primarchs, the Space Marines, or the mortals... He even calls mortals ordinary people."

"Think of how he fought for our benefit during the Dawnstar Conflict."

"Just now, our vanguard army had the ability to directly behead Chief Ullanor, but he was thinking about you and wanted you to gain some glory in this war, so he persuaded us to stay and wait for you!"

Perturabo returned to Angron's side. "At least, Angron will be the Warmaster of the Iron Warriors and the World Eaters!"

Angron gave Perturabo a grateful look.

He could sense that Perturabo supported him for two reasons.

The first one is human relations. This is part of the reason.

A bigger part of the reason is that the Iron Warriors often engage in the most difficult wars in the Great Crusade, but they do not bring any glory or benefits at all.

They are unknown, yet bear the heaviest casualties.

On the eve of the Battle of Krako, Angron asked for the elite of the Iron Warriors to join the offensive force at a meeting, and after the Battle of Krako, Angron was still thinking about other legions, which touched Perturabo.

If Angron could become the Warmaster, the Iron Warriors would be able to change their previous predicament.

Therefore, when it was necessary to express his opinion, Perturabo stood up and spoke out decisively.

“Angron will also be the Warmaster of the Ultramarines.” Guilliman waited for Perturabo to finish speaking before he stepped forward to express his opinion.

Nuceria and Ultramar are neighbors, their destinies are linked, and they are located in the same extreme star field, so they have long been bound together.

When the next Primarch wanted to step forward, the Emperor raised his hand and motioned for everyone to wait.

Immediately, the Emperor looked at Horus, whose eyes revealed complex emotions.

After thinking for a moment, the Emperor spoke again: "Angron, Horus. The two of you are the candidates for the Warmaster. Whoever of you can first cut off the head of Uranus Uragh in this war will become the Warmaster."

Hearing this, Horus' eyes showed joy.

The Emperor gave a chance.

Who will ultimately receive the title of Warmaster will not be appointed by the emperor, but will be determined by the results of the competition.

"Thank you, father." Horus saluted the Emperor again.

The moment he raised his head after the salute, Horus saw that the Emperor's face was no longer calm like a statue, but was filled with emotions.

"Sorry, kid."

Horus seemed to hear the Emperor say this, and seemed to see the Emperor's mouth shape as if he said this.

But the emperor said nothing and did nothing at this time.

Horus finally decided that it was all an illusion.

"As I said, the holder of the title of Warmaster will be chosen from among your two brothers." The Emperor said to all the Primarchs, "From now on, I will actually withdraw from the Great Crusade. The main force will be led by Horus, and the vanguard will continue to be led by Angron."

"Prove me your ability. Prove to me that when I withdraw from the Great Crusade, you are capable of taking on the responsibility of command and ensuring the normal supply of resources needed for the Webway Project and the safety of the human empire."

"Let's compete."
