Warhammer: Angron Training Manual
Chapter 486: The Truth
Chapter 486: The Truth
"So... so holy!"
A courageous civilian stood up from the crowd and walked towards the angel.
After swallowing a few times, the man asked excitedly: "Are you...are you an angel? Are you here to punish the demons who destroyed the Perfect City?"
The angel looked down at the mortal before him.
"No."
It shook its head.
"I am a demon from the highest heaven. I came here because I found a hole in reality and came here to have fun."
"How could I be an angel?"
These words were heard by the civilians present. Those who were still kneeling on the ground and worshipping the "angel" were all stunned for a moment and looked up in a trance.
"Fire!" Erebas shouted, drew his gun and shot.
But because he was disarmed, what Erebas subconsciously pulled out was air, and what he pressed was also air. Except for the sound coming out of his mouth, nothing could be heard far away.
Fortunately, the only unarmed people here were Erebus and civilians.
The World Eaters focused their bolter fire on the demons, while the mortal soldiers fired small-caliber rifles at the ground near the civilians, trying to disperse the troublemakers.
The devil took out a scepter from somewhere and pointed it forward. A blue light spread out, penetrating the civilians and intercepting all the flying bombs.
The blue light, which seemed to carry some kind of threat, surged forward, while the civilians who had been pierced through before had their flesh and blood twisted and mutated.
The Astartes reacted quickly and dodged the incoming blue light, but the mortal soldiers could not match the Astartes in terms of reaction or movement speed. When they were about to be affected by the blue light, suddenly a ray of light flashed and a think tank appeared in front of the mortal soldiers, holding up a psychic barrier to resist the light.
Kahn looked at the think tank and recognized it as the chief think tank, Varis.
"Why is it here?" Varis muttered to himself.
The think tank has already been deployed in advance at various weak points in the reality structure on the planet Kul. Right now, this place is a relatively solid place in the reality structure, but the devil just happened to appear here.
"Brother Kahn!" Varis shouted, "Help me seal off this place and buy time for other think tanks to arrive!"
"You heard what Brother Varis said!" Kahn waved to the World Eaters present.
The Astartes immediately dispersed and blocked off the block, while also surrounding and focusing fire on the demons.
The demon stood still, and when the bomb flew towards it with a tail of flame, it was blocked by some unknown force.
It didn't seem to be in a hurry at all, like a bystander, its eyes always fixed on the weaponless Erebus.
The mutated civilians turned into monsters more than three meters tall with countless tentacles. They did not seem to have psychic powers. When the Astartes fired at them, the explosive bombs could often tear off a piece of flesh from these mutated monsters.
"Just tear off a piece of flesh?" Kahn pulled the trigger of the bolter and continued to pour out ammunition, while shouting on the communication channel, "That flesh is harder than the trench barriers made by the Iron Warriors!"
"Such a holy and beautiful creature can exert power that can actually mutate people."
Erebus heard a World Eater sigh like this, and then retorted in disbelief: "Why do you think this birdman is holy and beautiful?"
After saying this, Erebus suddenly realized that what he saw was not consistent with what others saw.
The other party might have the ability to "cheat the eyes", but this ability does not work on him.
Varis rushed towards the demon with spear in hand.
The Think Tank Terminator Armor is powered by psionic energy rather than physical energy, and makes no sound even when running wildly.
When the demon saw the only psychic who could pose a threat to him rushing forward, he did not immediately go up to fight, but turned around first.
Varis's intentions were revealed at this moment.
The flames he unleashed in his feint charge were dissipated as they surged toward the demon's back, and he saw the demon turn to face him, claws raised.
The surge of psionic power immediately bound and lifted Varis up.
The surrounding Astartes continued to fire, but only Kahn decided to take a risk and rushed forward with his chainsaw axe drawn.
This time the venture was successful, as Kahn's chainsaw axe did hit the demon.
But this adventure was not successful in terms of results, because Kahn's chainsaw axe went straight through the demon's body when it passed through it, just like drawing a knife to cut water.
The demon turned around and swung his scepter, knocking Kahn away.
Erebus had no weapon and didn't want to stand by and watch, so he ran a few steps and rolled twice to pick up the chainsaw axe that fell on the ground.
The demon noticed this man of faith, let go of Varis and rushed over.
In desperation, Erebus swung his chainsaw axe and chopped.
The sound of a sharp weapon cutting through flesh was heard, followed by blue blood mixed with feathers splattering onto the ground.
Kahn, who had just gotten up from the ground, saw that Erebus could actually cause damage to the monster, and couldn't help but fall into self-doubt.
The Astartes who were fighting the mutants also focused their fire on the demons with other battle brothers after killing the mutants. After Erebus dealt a heavy blow to the demons, the bombs were no longer blocked by some force and all hit. The demons were slashed by Erebus while being suppressed by continuous firepower.
Feathers and blood flew everywhere, but the Space Marines felt that their bolters were no match for the chainsaw axes in Erebus's hand, and the damage they caused was far less than that of the axe blade.
Varis, freed from the demon's influence, joined the battle, his psychic powers doing more damage than the chainsaw axe in Erebus's hand.
After discovering that the current demon would be suppressed but not killed, Erebus handed the task of suppressing the demon to Varis, and rushed to a nearby house.
Believers of the God-Emperor often have a habit of buying a rope to hang a large number of items that will be used in ritual activities, such as purity seals, parchments filled with scriptures, etc.
Although the Kuer people have now moved out of the Perfect City, Erebas still firmly believes that the Kuer people will not give up their faith because of difficulties, and they must still have ropes for hanging ritual activities in their homes.
Sure enough.
Erebus lifted a bed and threw it aside, and saw that under the bed were hidden ritual objects, which were indeed hanging on ropes.
He picked up the rope and rushed out of the room to return to the demon and put the rope around the demon.
Kahn thought Erebas was crazy, but Varis knew what Erebas was going to do. He released psychic pressure to push the demon who was about to get up back to the ground, and assisted Erebas to tie up the demon with a rope.
Then the other Astartes saw that the ropes, which probably couldn't even tie up a stronger mortal, were actually binding up the powerful being before them, making him unable to move.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Astartes quickly reloaded their ammunition and aimed at the demons again to prevent any accidents.
Erebus looked at this strange and twisted creature, then raised his head to look at Varis: "Is this a demon?"
Varis did not answer, but asked: "How did you come up with the idea of tying this thing up with this rope?"
"Kahn couldn't chop it with his chainsaw axe, but I could not only chop it but also seriously injure it. If there is any difference between me and Kahn, the only answer is faith," Erebus said. "Thinking along this line of thought, it is obvious that something related to faith can work on it, so I want to try it."
Varis stared at Erebus.
The Lord of the White Knights said that faith could have special effects on warp creatures or supernatural phenomena, but the think tanks have never verified it.
And Erebus, a Word Bearer who knew nothing about demons, was able to realize that faith had an effect on demons.
"Smart." Varis stepped forward and patted Erebus on the shoulder as he passed by him, then came to the demon and looked at him carefully.
The demon looked extremely painful. The ropes on its body not only tied it up, but also tortured it at the same time.
Varis subconsciously analyzed: Perhaps it was the hatred caused by the faith of people like Erebas, the extreme hatred of demons, that caused things related to faith to torture demons.
There is indeed a discussion about demons in the belief of the God-Emperor, but it is just a subconscious setting of "since there are gods, there must be demons, and since there are demons, we should hate demons." But it is still effective.
After pondering and examining the demon, Varis determined that it was the Lord of Change.
The demon that was brought back to the real universe from the warp by the Lord of the White Knight and was greatly weakened as a result, belongs to the same type and class as the demon in front of him now.
"I will take this demon away and deal with it." Varis turned back to look at Kahn, "Keep it a secret."
"Keep it secret" is a common command in the World Eaters. According to the legion's regulations, as long as something is clearly confidential, it must not be discussed or spread.
The World Eaters were used to following strict rules, so when they heard the word "secret", they simply looked away and pretended not to see it.
Varis walked towards the mortal soldiers and used his psionics to clear the memories from their minds.
At this time, the gunship of the White Knight Think Tank flew from the sky, landed on the ground and opened the hatch. The think tanks who came from other places on the planet looked at Varis.
"Take it away." ordered the Chief Librarian.
The think tanks stepped forward immediately.
But just as one of the think tanks grabbed the rope on the demon and was about to carry it away, an order came from not far away.
"Leave this creature behind."
Upon hearing the order, everyone present looked in the direction the voice was directed.
The Primarch of the Word Bearers Legion stood not far away, holding his warhammer.
"This creature is bound by my brood. It is only right that the Word Bearers deal with it." Lorgar stepped forward. "If you have any objections, let my brothers come and talk to me."
Varis signaled the Librarians to continue taking away the demons.
"You World Eaters have gone too far!" Lorgar stepped forward, "Don't force me to hammer you to death here!"
"Then come and kill me and my mission together!" Varis raised his spear, "Step over my dead body!"
Varis is a Chief Librarian.
But first and foremost, he is a World Eater.
Impulsive, irritable, and having unconditional and bottomless love for his genetic father...these shortcomings also exist in Varis.
Even Lorgar had no doubt at this moment that this warrior was truly prepared to fight him.
