Chapter 531: The Intres Incident

Chapter 531: The Intres Incident
"Warmaster."

The imperial bureaucrats all performed the Sky Eagle Salute.

Horus walked up to the leader, looked him over, and said, "Kren? I hardly recognized you. Look at you..."

In Horus' eyes, the governor named Kren was a man so fat that he needed to sit in a suspended wheelchair.

In Horus's impression, Governor Kren was an elegant young man wearing a neat military uniform, commanding mortal soldiers to fight as an auxiliary army.

There was even a time in which Kren commanded two teams of Space Marines in a battle under extreme circumstances.

He was once elegant, capable, loyal and rational, and the results of any task he was given were always the best.

But now...

"Burp..." Kren burped and apologized awkwardly, "Sorry, the food of the Intres people is too high in calories."

Horus couldn't believe it.

Kren was not a person who was easily changed by power and luxurious life. He once commanded the entire Shadow Moon Wolves Mortal Auxiliary Army and even served as the commander of the patrol fleet for a period of time. The power and life at that time were much better than when he was the governor of Interres.

But Kren still remains honest, and the mortal auxiliary army he commands is always the most capable in fighting and consumes the least resources.

"Do you know why I appointed you as the governor of this world after Interseth was incorporated into the Empire?" Horus asked.

"Because I can do it." Karen smiled.

"Yes, and now you are a waste. Look at the world you ruled. It used to be so prosperous and civilized, but now it is dirty and chaotic!"

Horus' tone became increasingly intense, and he even roared in the end.

"You idiot, you have ruined your future with your own hands! I wanted you to go to the Intres capital world to serve as a member of the Joint Management Agency after proving your ability to the Intres people! But you..."

Karen bowed his head.

Horus stopped venting his anger and asked the question that concerned him most: "Who gave you the order to sterilize the alien members of the Intres race?"

"The Imperial Parliament," Kren replied.

"Nonsense! I went to Terra to question the parliament in person, but the parliament didn't dare to intervene in Interres' affairs at all!" Horus became angry again.

Kelun looked puzzled: "But I received the order document."

A bureaucrat beside him immediately stepped forward and handed over the documents and data tablet issued by the Imperial Parliament.

Horus smashed the files and data slate to pieces with one punch.

He didn't want to dwell on who issued the order, because mortals were like that, they would argue endlessly, and plus, the Space Marine Corps had no supervisory or investigative power over the Imperial Senate, so it might never be clear who issued the sterilization order.

But the problem still lies with Karen.

"You idiot." Horus pulled Kren up from the wheelchair. "You follow all orders, don't you? Don't you know who sent you here? What about your ability? Can't you negotiate? Can you negotiate until I know the order, and then mediate in the Imperial Senate through Cyjanus? Idiot!"

The original master's force was a bit too strong, and Clenton felt dizzy and vomited all the wine in his stomach.

Seeing that the Father of Genes was tainted with filth, Abaddon immediately drew his sword and killed Kren.

"How disappointing." Horus threw away the body and signaled the trembling bureaucrats to get out.

"Could he have been corrupted by... that thing?" Locke proposed a possibility.

The thing Loken was talking about was Chaos.

"Don't the Intersians know that he's been corrupted?" Eichmand stepped forward and said, "They have a way to detect corruption. We've used Intersians' technology to detect corrupted alien races, and it's very useful."

"Inters has no right to investigate Imperial personnel." Loken looked at Eichmand.

Horus remained silent, thinking it unlikely that Kren was corrupted by Chaos.

This guy has an extremely strong will. The reason he became the commander of the auxiliary army was because of his strong will. He once fought guerrilla warfare on his home planet to resist the aliens who occupied the planet. This fight lasted for twenty years until the imperial army descended from the sky to save the planet.

Or maybe there are other reasons.

Horus decided to calm the chaos first, so he walked out of the mansion and went outside to face the gathered Intres people.

After leaving the mansion, the dilapidated scene of this world became clearer and more obvious in the Primarch's eyes.

People were dressed in rags.

The roads were dotted with shacks.

Horus still remembered that this world was extremely prosperous when he left, but it soon fell into this state.

Not surprising.

The Empire banned Intersace from using AI, so the planets that originally required AI to manage quickly became bad.

Horus had read some archives on the way here and found that the situation on this world was still the best in the Interstellar Sector, because at least it was where the Primarch had come and signed a treaty.

"Horus!"

Someone rushed to the front, roaring as he pushed and shoved the soldiers.

"You ordered the sterilization of our compatriots after we were incorporated into the Empire! You are a shameless tyrant!"

The people grew more angry when they saw Horus.

It has only been a generation since Interseth was incorporated into the Empire, and people still remember how Horus and Tur stood together facing the camera.

The insults were only the mildest and soon objects were being hurled at Horus.

At first, Loken was able to calm the mortal soldiers and prevent them from opening fire, but when an Intresian threw a Molotov cocktail directly at the Primarch, Loken was unable to control them and the mortal soldiers immediately opened fire.

The situation became chaotic.

Horus's voice was loud enough to be heard over the crowd, but no one listened to him.

Loken wanted to dissuade the soldiers, but Abaddon stepped forward and ordered the soldiers to open fire, because the Molotov cocktail that was shattered in mid-air just now proved that the locals intended to kill the Primarch.

Horus rushed over and kicked Abaddon away, stopping the soldiers... and in the process, the Primarch caught a glimpse of a man standing in the corner of the street.

The man was dressed in rags, standing on the street with cold eyes.

It was Tours.

As warm and excited as the look in Thor's eyes was when he looked at Horus, now it is as cold and disappointed.

After noticing that the Primarch had spotted him, Tur slowly put on his hood, turned around and disappeared into the shadows.

Horus immediately gave chase.

……

In a narrow alley, the Primarch blocked Tour.

The two men were ten meters apart, staring at each other.

It suddenly started to rain, and the rain soaked Tour's clothes, which stuck to his body, revealing the outline of the bandages.

"What's wrong with you?" Horus subconsciously took a step forward, wanting to check on Tur's condition.

But Tur retreated quickly like a frightened cat. Just by retreating, the Primarch dared not to move forward again.

"I spent two months in the prison of Intres." Tur gradually calmed down and returned to his cold and disappointed expression. "So guess what happened to me, my primarch."

"You instigated that?" Horus asked of the rebels.

"I lost power a long time ago and was despised as a traitor by the people, so of course it wasn't me." Tuer said, "They stood up on their own initiative, standing up for the Intres people who were sterilized by you. Maybe in your eyes, those so-called aliens are just inferior species that need to be dealt with urgently, but in the eyes of us Intres people, they are compatriots. They have created the once prosperous Intres with us."

Horus was speechless.

He could guess what Toole had been through.

As the person who once made the decision on Intres's incorporation into the Empire, Tur must have been blamed after the sterilization incident and became the target of people's hatred.

The reason why Tur survived is because the people of Interres have extremely high moral standards.

Horus wanted to explain, wanted to make promises, but Tur simply took a coin out of his pocket, threw it to the Primarch, and then pointed at the vending machine behind the Primarch.

The Primarch immediately walked to the vending machine like a servant, bought a bottle of wine, and then threw it to Tur through the air.

Tours caught the bottle, bit the cap open with his teeth, and took a few gulps.

As Horus tried to explain again, Tur threw away the bottle and pulled out something that looked like a controller from his pocket.

"Horus," said Tur, "I thank you for coming here."

"I should have come here a long time ago... If I come, all problems can be solved..."

"Listen to me, Horus. I am grateful that you have come here, and that you have given me the opportunity to do something for my people."

Toor smiled.

"I am also very grateful to the alien colleague who led his troops into the meeting hall and wanted to start a war with you."

"He suggested that I should hold back a little bit. I thought he was overreacting and had unnecessary concerns at the time, but after he was arrested half a year ago, I realized that he was the wise man."

Toole's hand was on the switch.

"Otherwise, I really have no way to take revenge on you, you bastard."

A directed energy blast emerged as Tur flipped the switch, passing through Tur first, vaporizing the mortal, and even his soul withered in the energy.

This is a weapon specifically used to fight Chaos, and the Eldar helped the Intres develop it.

Horus dodged subconsciously, and had already dodged in his subjective cognition, but when he dodged, he found that the position where Tur in his cognition was standing was just in front of his current dodging position, and the reality also changed like his cognition, and the energy shock still hit him.

The Primarch saw his own body in severe pain, and the eyes in his body seemed to see his own soul, but in the end, neither of them disappeared.

When the scenes they saw merged into one, Horus fell to the ground with a bang.

"Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep..."

Aribati walked out from the end of the alley humming a little tune, took out a long sword with four-color light flowing, and approached Horus.

On the other side, four members of the Council of Four Kings rushed into the alley and immediately opened fire on Aribati.

The explosive bomb failed to hit the villain.

Aribati stood in place, his body shook, and four arms extended from behind, each arm holding a long sword of a different color.

The two sides confront each other.

Abaddon did not step forward immediately, but used his body to shield Torgaton, wanting to let Torgaton pull the Primarch back first.

He knew very well that although his side had more people, their chances of winning against Aribati were almost zero.

"Buy one, get four free." Aribati smiled, with no intention of stopping Togaton.

The villain pressed his body downward, and his four arms danced with swords.

The surrounding environment suddenly cooled down, and the supernatural phenomenon indicated that Aribati was about to call upon his psychic powers.

At this moment, a snowflake fell from the sky.

Aribati slowly turned around and saw Qin Xia walking out of the snow.

The four members of the Council of Four Kings immediately laid down their weapons and looked at the villains with cold eyes.

"Are you coming here by yourself or do you want me to take you here?" Qin Xia asked.

"..." Aribati responded with silence, then placed the scarlet sword on his neck and slashed his neck.
