My own war game

Chapter 91 Free France

Chapter 91 Free France
"How did your Marshal Pétain talk with the Germans?" Christine asked the man, putting out the cigarette in her hand.

"What do you mean?" Leon Phillips forced himself to remain calm.

"Pierre Laval, Admiral Darlan, right-wing leader Joseph, and recently General Weygand, these are the people you have met recently. What are you colluding about? Do you need me to make it clear?" Christine took out the wrapper from her cigarette box, pressed it on the table and pushed it to Phillips.

The man took the cigarette paper and glanced at it. His face immediately turned pale when he saw the information on it. It recorded all the key people he had contacted in the past week, including the content of the conversation and the dishes he had eaten.

This woman had joined Charles de Gaulle in politics a few years ago and had once been his first liaison officer. To outsiders, she was just a vase-like character, but he knew that his former fiancée had actually established a huge intelligence network in just a few years to serve her personally.

Looking at the information on the cigarette paper in front of him, Phillips was secretly on guard. Is the underground power that this woman controls so huge now?

"Don't be nervous. I don't mean to threaten you." Seeing the man's nervous expression, the woman put the back of her hand to her lips and giggled. Her charming look stunned the ex-boyfriend.

The cigarette paper was pulled back, and the woman lit it casually. In the flames, the information on it quickly turned to ashes.

"I'm here to discuss cooperation with you, on behalf of Mr. Charles de Gaulle." Christine put her hands on her knees, straightened her body and said seriously.

"Charles de Gaulle? Didn't he give a speech just last week saying he would fight to the end?" The man's face was full of distrust.

"Neither you nor I are children anymore. Who would believe the speeches of politicians? I know you are trying to organize peace talks with Germany and want to form a new government. What do you think? How about including us as a part of the group?" Christine put forward her conditions.

"You? What can you offer? What do you want?" Phillips put the interests directly on the table.

"Mr. de Gaulle directly influences nearly 10 army soldiers. He can speak on their behalf. As long as we cooperate, your new government will not be an empty shell."

"As for our needs, my chief officer hopes to get the position of Commander-in-Chief of the New Government's Army." Christine spoke eloquently.

"How do I know if you are sincere?" Phillips questioned.

Another piece of paper was pushed over, with five names written on it. "List of informants around Pétain. Here is only half of it. I will hand over the other half when everything is done."

Looking at the list, all of them were people he knew. Recalling what had happened before, Phillips was already halfway convinced. He put away the list and said, "I will convey this to Mr. Pétain truthfully. I will write back to you after I see the British ambassador off this time."

Christine nodded, then stood up to end the conversation.

Perhaps because their interests were back in the same camp, the man had other associations. He reached out to pull Christine's hand and said, "Sinniel, from now on, we..."

Snapped!
The man's hand was slapped away cleanly.

"Don't get me wrong. Cooperating with you is a political necessity. I still feel as disgusted with you as I did 20 years ago." Christine rubbed her wrist and turned away.

Ten minutes later, Christine opened the door of a Citroen sedan in front of the train station and got in. After getting in the car, she was still wiping her hands with a handkerchief.

"Do they believe it?" A voice came from the person sitting next to him, who was the current French Deputy Defense Minister Charles de Gaulle.

"Be skeptical, but at least they won't take action today. They have some information that needs to be verified." Christine said as she tidied her hair.

"That list? They knew it was fake after a little verification."

"It doesn't matter. Even if we know they are fake, these people will not be reused, especially in the eyes of that suspicious guy." Christine's eyes showed coldness as she spoke.

"Well, after today these things are not something we should consider." Half an hour later at the airport, British Ambassador to France Alfred Duff Cooper was preparing to board the plane to leave.

"Sir, this is Mr. Pétain's first assistant, General Leon Phillips. He is here to see you off on behalf of Mr. Pétain," someone introduced.

"Please understand that Mr. Pétain is too busy at this moment..." Phillips said in a formal diplomatic tone, thinking that he would have to completely adjust his attitude towards Britain in a few days.

"Mr. Cooper! Please wait a moment!" A female voice sounded from outside. A Citroen sedan stopped nearby, and a blonde lady and a tall man got out of the car.

"Mr. de Gaulle and Cooper had a deep friendship and they wanted to say a few words alone." Christine separated Phillips.

The major general frowned and wanted to stop it, but the conversation between the two people on the train today made him hesitate, and finally he stepped back.

The two men chatted cordially for a while at the plane door, and then the ambassador stepped onto the plane, with de Gaulle waving in greeting.

The twin-engine Lockheed L-14 transport plane began to taxi slowly, but for some reason the hatch was forgotten to be closed.

Suddenly, de Gaulle rushed onto the plane and stretched out his hand. Christine pushed Phillips away and trotted towards the plane.

At the moment when the planes were about to pull away, the blonde female adjutant stepped onto the plane with the help of her companions.

Phillips was horrified and subconsciously ran after him, but his former fiancée on the opposite plane pulled out a Browning pistol and pointed it at him through the cabin door.

If you dare to come over, I will beat you to death!
This was the message he read from the woman's eyes.

Lockheed L-14 soars into the sky!

Phillips was left on the ground roaring angrily.

"Contact the Air Force and stop them! Tell Mr. Pétain that de Gaulle has run away! That bitch has run away too!"

"Sir, Britain and we are still allies for now. I'm afraid we can't take the responsibility of intercepting the diplomat transport plane at this time..." the assistant whispered beside him.

Phillips' face was gloomy, and he finally gritted his teeth and said, "Contact the Germans and ask them to find the nearest planes and shoot them down for me!"

On the other side, He Chi and his team's plane had already flown near Paris.

"He, if we don't find a solution we will end up in France."

"I know, that's what I'm thinking about."

At this moment, a voice suddenly came from the communication channel:

"F2, F2, we have received a temporary order to intercept a British transport plane! You can go to the target location on your own."

"Intercept British planes?" He Chi chewed over this sentence silently. He winked at Montgomery and said, "Isn't this the opportunity?"
