Zhao Shu looked through the curtain at the tall figure riding on a horse in front of her and sighed softly. Since she was here, she might as well make the best of it.

Ah Ling followed her girl's gaze and saw that Master Xie was still as charming and elegant as ever. The girl should be happy to have such a man as her companion, so why would she look so depressed?

Zhao Shu looked at Ah Ling with a tired look on her face and sighed even more heavily. Alas, this man's appearance is always able to bewitch people.

The carriage stopped in a forest. Xie Jin rode to Zhao Shu's window and explained calmly, "My people checked and found that there is no inn within a hundred miles. So we can only stay here for one night. But don't worry, our people will take turns to guard at night. Nothing will happen."

Zhao Shu looked at the vague figure outside the curtain and whispered in thanks, "Thank you, Prince."

If their group stayed alone in the forest, if they encountered danger, it would only take a few minutes for them to become lambs in the mouths of others. But if they were with Xie Jin and the others, no matter what happened, at least they would have someone who could handle it.

Xie Jin lowered his eyes to look at the person behind the curtain, then gently squeezed the horse's belly and drove away.

Xie Jin tied the reins to a tree, stroked the black horse's mane, and walked towards Zhao Shu's carriage.

Seeing Xie Jin, who had never even glanced at her except for the one she had spoken to earlier, Zhao Xueying ran over with her skirt lifted up, stood in front of him, and said with a slight breath: "Cousin Jin, thank you. If it weren't for you, we might still be stuck in that pit."

Xie Jin looked at Zhao Shu who was about to get off the carriage after lifting the curtain, and then looked at Zhao Xueying who was blocking his way. He suppressed his temper and said, "You're too polite, cousin."

It was unclear whether Zhao Xueying didn't understand Xie Jin's perfunctory response or she heard it but pretended not to understand. She still stood in front of him, looking at him shyly.

Xie Jin was annoyed by her stare and was about to walk past her and towards Zhao Shu, but Zhao Xueying suddenly waved at her: "Sister."

Zhao Shu actually wanted to pretend that she didn't see it, but Zhao Xueying's shout just now was really loud, attracting everyone around to look at them, so she had to bite the bullet and walk over.

Zhao Shu came up to the two of them, bowed to Xie Jin and said, "Prince." Then she lowered her head and said nothing.

Zhao Xueying took Zhao Shu's hand, looked at her with her beautiful eyes, and asked innocently, "Sister, what's wrong with you? You don't seem happy that cousin Jin is with us."

Zhao Shu smiled: "No, I just didn't have dinner and my stomach is a little uncomfortable."

The men who had been looking at them heard Zhao Shu say she was hungry, and then raised the rabbit meat in their hands to Zhao Shu: "If you two girls don't mind, come and have some."

Xie Jin glanced at Zhao Shu, then walked towards the fire. When Zhao Xueying saw Xie Jin leaving, she also pulled Zhao Shu and hurriedly followed.

Zhao Shu thought it would be good to eat something warm so as not to feel too uncomfortable at night.

Zhao Xueying sat down next to Xie Jin first. Zhao Shu looked at the seat on the other side of Xie Jin and finally sat down next to Zhao Xueying.

Xie Jin picked up a piece of roasted and golden rabbit meat, sprinkled pepper on it, and handed it to the person next to him.

When Zhao Xueying saw the rabbit meat, she thought that Xie Jin had specially given it to her.

The group of men sitting around the fire were also looking at the two of them with an expectant look on their faces. Our prince seemed to be uninterested in women on the surface, but actually he still had trouble resisting beautiful women.

Zhao Xueying's cheeks flushed, and just as she was about to reach out to take it, the aroma of meat wafted past her and stopped in front of Zhao Shu.

Zhao Xueying stared at the meat in front of Zhao Shu in disbelief, then turned to look at Xie Jin's handsome face. Gradually, the blush on his face faded, and his face kept changing from purple to blue. A man smiled awkwardly and handed Zhao Xueying a grilled fish: "Second Miss, this is grilled, eat this."

Zhao Xueying looked at the grilled fish in front of her, trying to swallow her anger, pretending to be indifferent and smiling, "Thank you."

Zhao Shu generously took the meat handed over by Xie Jin and said, "Eat it, why not eat it!"
Her mind turned back to the rabbit meat. Looking at the roasted rabbit meat that was charred and oily, Zhao Shu couldn't help but feel hungry. She lowered her head and took a full bite. It was delicious!

Xie Jin looked at Zhao Shu's greasy little mouth with a smile in his eyes, and in a good mood he took some dry branches from the side and added them to the fire.

Everyone looked unwillingly at Zhao Shu, who was focusing on the meat, and then looked at Zhao Xueying, who was sitting there with a gentle smile on her face. Although this eldest girl was not bad, everyone in the capital didn't know that she was not favored, and it was obvious that the second girl was more worthy of the prince. They looked at Zhao Shu again, and finally lowered their heads and took a big bite of the meat.

In front of Zhao Shu was a fire that was warming her up, and she was chewing fragrant rabbit meat. She felt so comfortable. She had no idea that while she was eating the meat, someone was thinking about her and Xie Jin's marriage. If she knew, she would probably spit the meat in her mouth into that person's face.

Zhao Shu covered her mouth with her hands and burped in satisfaction. The meat was roasted so deliciously today. Next time she has the chance, she will try roasting it herself.

After they had eaten their fill, they began to feel sleepy. Xie Jin left two people to guard the fire, while the others went to rest, and would take turns in the second half of the night, so the two could rest.

Zhao Shu yawned and called A Ling over, and the two of them got on the carriage together.

Zhao Shu rested her head on the window sill, and A Ling rested her head on her shoulder. The two of them snuggled up to each other. Fortunately, they had been careful to bring an extra blanket when they went out, otherwise they would have had a difficult night.

Zhao Shu moved closer to Ah Ling, squeezing closer to her to get warmer.

"Knock, knock." There was a knock on the car window. Zhao Shu carefully opened a corner of the window and saw Xie Jin looking at her with a smile. Zhao Shu was silent for a moment, but still tilted her head out: "Prince, is there something wrong?"

Xie Jin handed her the blanket in his hand: "It's cold at night, cover yourself with it."

Zhao Shu glanced behind him and declined politely, "I appreciate your kindness, but this blanket belongs to you, Prince." Before she could finish her words, the blanket was thrown in her face.

Zhao Shu angrily pulled off the blanket and wanted to throw it back to him, but there was no one in front of her. She glared at Xie Jin's back and retracted her head.

She really wanted to throw the blanket away, but the cold wind made her shiver, and in the end she had no nerve to cover herself and Ah Ling with the blanket. It would be fine if he didn't cover them, but he couldn't blame her if they got cold, because she had refused before.
