Chapter 656 Two Extremes in a Mirror

Selius was not very patient as he cleaned up the blood-stained battlefield.

Those still alive were dragged to the bottom of the sea by his tentacles, while the dead were devoured by the shadows in the darkness.

Yu Xia watched as Selius kept talking, just like the little octopus she remembered in human form, who liked to chatter on and on. But his lazy yet slightly disdainful expression was exactly the same as the original Selius.

This blend of two different traits creates a strange sense of contrast in him.

Even though these are Farrell's memories, Yu Xia is drawn to Selius.

His long blue hair fluttered in the seawater; it was a bright, vivid blue, the blue of the sky on the clearest day.

Serius is like the reflection of the sky in this cold, dark sea, like the winter sun that is not scorching but feels warm on your skin.

Farrell is the complete opposite of Farrell.

Whenever Yu Xia saw a memory of Selisus, she felt the dark and lonely scene around her come alive.

But there are few memories of him; most of them are of Farrell alone in the sea.

Farrell disliked Serius, and not only Serius, but also his companions; he was loyal only to Apesius.

In contrast to his tendency to show annoyance at the sight of others, Serius was more indifferent. He didn't deliberately interact or talk to his sea creature companions, and would occasionally call them silly little fish, as if he were both disgusted and teasing them.

When faced with external enemies, Celius was often the one who cleaned up the mess.

In battles large and small, whether easy or difficult, he handled them with ease, neither charging to the front nor running away.

Whenever he was outmatched, he would conserve his strength to heal his companions.

"It's foolish to throw your life away, you brainless little fish."

In such a harsh and bloody, icy sea, Serius strolled leisurely as if he were in a garden.

This was true even in front of Apesius.

Serius did not show the same reverence for Apesius as the other young sea creatures, nor did he possess the absolute loyalty and unwavering obedience of Farrell.

Young Serius displayed the demeanor of a sea lord at a very young age.

Farrell, on the other hand, displays an increasingly frightening bloodlust and savageness. He leads his teams to victory in more and more battles, and he fights alone more and more frequently.

After he developed the ability to devour, his companions became increasingly fearful and distant of him.

The scene before Yu Xia changed, and Farrell and his companions once again met with Apesius to report on the situation in the sea.

Yu Xia glanced around and saw Selius standing at the back of the crowd, leaning lazily against a pillar and yawning.

Yu Xia smiled. So this is what Selius was like when he was young. He was similar to the little octopus, but not quite. The little octopus was more lively, while young Selius seemed to have his vitality suppressed by this sea. He was more reserved, and his laziness had a reassuring reliability.

Even if Celius doesn't actively communicate with others, over time his companions will unconsciously develop a dependence on and trust in him.

Serius maintained the same attitude as before, showing no favoritism or closeness to anyone.

He lends a hand when you need his help, but you rarely see him when you don't.

Because it was Farrell's memory, Yu Xia didn't know what Selius had done at other times.

Occasionally, she would see some sea creatures provoking Serius, but he would ignore them, turn around and walk away, completely disregarding them.

If the other party made a direct attack, Selius would immediately vanish without a trace. The provocateur would call Selius a coward, but Selius paid no heed.

From Farrell's perspective, Serius was just coasting along under Apesius's command.

He didn't have much contact with him, and they wouldn't exchange more than a few words when they met. It wasn't until one time when Apesus left Serius behind alone that Farrell couldn't help but ask him coldly, "What is the king doing keeping you here?"

Having seen so many of Farrell's memories, Yu Xia knew that although he was cold and belligerent, he would never take the initiative to speak to anyone or provoke anyone.

Like an ascetic, he silently accepted all the challenges the ocean presented to him and faithfully carried out every task Apesius assigned him.

Yu Xia could sense that Farrell was becoming increasingly tense when facing Selius, especially when Selius was being watched by Apesius, he would pay extra attention to it.

“We talked about some trivial things,” Celius said.

Farrell: "Nothing concerning the king is insignificant."

Serius shrugged: "It's irrelevant to me."

Seeing him about to leave, Farrell pointed his halberd at him and shouted, "Halt!"

Yu Xia didn't understand why Farrell suddenly became tense. Although his memories were fragmented, they were enough for her to understand Farrell. He was not an irrational person. On the contrary, he was rational enough. Whether it was fear and distance from him, private accusations that he cheated because of his devouring ability or was too bloodthirsty, or direct provocation of his companions, he never used his devouring ability and never felt particularly angry.

As long as they were sea creatures under Apesius's command, he would only make a move and then stop. Even if he won, he would never mock them, but would simply turn around and leave. He was similar to Serius in some ways.

They all possess the qualities and magnanimity to become masters of the sea.

But at this moment, Farrell looked like a cat with its fur standing on end in front of Selius.

Serius tried to leave, but Farrell blocked his retreat with his halberd.

“Fight me,” Farrell said.

"I won't fight." Selius nimbly retreated, moving away from Farrell's attack range.

Farrell: "Why do you never accept challenges? You are not worthy to be the king's servant."

Serius did not answer him, ignoring Farrell as he had ignored everyone else, and quickly disappeared from his sight.

Yu Xia sensed Farrell's anger, along with a sense of unease.

She looked at Farrell's expression, not understanding what was causing his unease.

Was it because they feared Apes would value Serius more?

She felt this wasn't the root cause. According to her observation, Apesius hadn't shown any favoritism or appreciation towards any of his subordinates, and he had only appeared in Farrell's memories a handful of times.

Farrell treated his companions and subordinates in a similar manner to Selius, only with more annoyance.

But after experiencing more battles, Farrell gradually became calm and indifferent.

After that minor altercation with Serius, he returned to his previous state of ignoring each other.

The fighting and killing in this sea area continued unabated. Apesius's sea creature subordinates, whether young or inexperienced, came and went in waves, with fewer and fewer remaining.

Yu Xia had no idea how many years ago this was, or why her biological father, Apesius, was here.

If he has survived from ten thousand years ago to the present day, does he know that she is still alive?
