The Wolf of Los Angeles.

Chapter 83: Fighting Everywhere

Chapter 83: Fighting Everywhere
Fox Building, Television Centre Channel 11.

In the producer's office, Megan Taylor closed her copy of People and looked at the family of three on the cover. She said to Hawke, "There's an anti-discrimination trend in the sports world. At several MLB games last week, anti-discrimination banners were displayed on the scene."

Hawke stood in front of the French window: "I just wanted to divert my attention and pushed it by the way."

Megan looked downstairs and saw Steve, Daisy and Wilson had already gotten out of the car and were about to enter the Fox Building, but were blocked by a large crowd of people.

Not only fans, but also fanatics from several equal rights organizations, many of whom are white.

In terms of public impact, this incident had a much greater impact on the white community in California than on the black community.

People have entered the building, and Megan said, "Let's go."

Hawke followed him out of the office and waited for a moment at the entrance of the program team's office. Caroline and Byers accompanied the three people and turned in.

Steve walked up quickly, hit Hawke lightly, and said, "I have good news for you. I just got a new endorsement."

"Congratulations." Hawke then introduced the two sides.

Caroline took the three of them to discuss the program process with Megan.

Byers stayed.

Hawke led Byers to the reception room, where he felt like he was in his own studio at Midnight Entertainment.

"I want to ask one thing." Hawke was very direct: "When will you pay the remaining $40?"

Byers was a little surprised: "Haven't you paid yet?"

Hawke just looked at him and smiled.

Biles realized that things were not going well and that withholding the other party's salary was definitely not a wise choice.

He saw with his own eyes how this man manipulated public opinion.

"Wait a moment." Byers left the reception room and went to find Steve.

Hawke waited about five minutes before Byers came back from outside.

"Steve asked the accountant to pay you the remaining compensation the day after the photo shoot for People." Byers tried his best to explain, "But Daisy thought that the photo shoot was advanced and should be paid according to the original schedule, so she privately called the accountant..."

He knew the key to the problem: "Steve called the accountant again."

Hawke nodded slightly, and not long after, the bank business manager he was in contact with called and reminded him that a sum of $40 had been deposited into the studio account.

Byers went to the studio to accompany a client.

The door of the reception room was pushed open from the outside, and Caroline came in with a clatter, sat down on the sofa, and said, "This woman is really difficult to deal with."

She asked Hawke, "Is it true that every time you sell news, she always undercuts you by selling the price?"

Hawke put away his phone: "On the contrary, I always ask for a high price."

Caroline had done similar work before, so she understood it after a little thought: "You always get hot headlines. Such news is a seller's market. There are so many media outlets in Los Angeles, so there is never a shortage of buyers."

Hawke said, "It turns out you are smarter than the little ewe."

Caroline's face turned black, but she held it back: "Next time we have a chance, let's make news together."

"By the way, all of Steve's commissions have been credited to your account. I will transfer $6 to you tomorrow." Hawke first baited Caroline, then said, "We are open to cooperation. You can find opportunities yourself."

Thinking of the $6, Caroline agreed immediately: "No problem."

Hawke had already grasped Miss Mee's vital point.

…………

Upstairs, Channel 11 Director's Office.

Because of the explosive ratings of "Midnight Entertainment" and a major drama tonight, Director Cynthia Rothberg chose to rest during the day and come back to the TV station in the evening.

According to the time, she turned on the TV in the office.

There was a knock on the office door and a blonde woman in her thirties entered the office.

Cynthia looked at the news anchorwoman on Channel 11 and asked, "Gretchen, why are you here?"

Gretchen is the producer and anchor of Channel 11's prime-time "Trump News." She pointed to the TV and said, "I want to talk to you about something."

Cynthia asked her to sit.

"Midnight Entertainment" is on air and is reviewing the Steve incident.

Gretchen smiled and said, "Wouldn't it be better if this kind of news was broadcast during prime time?"

Cynthia understood what she meant as soon as she heard it: “The news channel was developed by Megan, not given by me.”

Gretchen is the top female anchor of Channel 11 and has a certain say: "Hot news like this will be more effective during prime time and will have a more obvious impact on the overall channel."

Cynthia is an expert at balancing things, and Megan is a whip in her hand: "We are in this business and follow the rules. Even I cannot force Megan to hand over her news sources."

Gretchen complained a thousand times in her heart, you talk about rules when necessary, and you are the rules when not necessary.

But having said that, she was powerless to refute the director, so she had to watch "Midnight Entertainment" with Cynthia.

As soon as those three weird popular characters who created the black kid came on stage, the show's ratings soared like a rocket.

Women are particularly jealous, especially when it comes to anchors who are in direct competition with them. Gretchen forced herself to watch for a while, but ultimately she couldn't help it and took the initiative to say goodbye and leave.

When she came out of the director's office, she saw Cynthia's assistant on one side of the office and leaned over to say, "Are you free this weekend? Let's go shopping together. Burberry has new products."

The assistant understood. The other party wanted to give her a gift, so she didn't refuse: "Okay." Gretchen lowered her voice: "Do you know much about West Coast Studios? Have you met Hawke Osment?"

The assistant moved closer: "All of Megan's recent hot news is provided by the West Coast Studio."

Gretchen understood.

The assistant lowered his voice just as low: "It seems that he is on the "Midnight Entertainment" program team tonight."

"Thanks." Gretchen walked out and took out her cell phone to send a text message.

Not long after, a message came back: "He was wearing a gray high-end business suit, had short black hair, and was about six feet tall."

Gretchen took the elevator downstairs and came to the first floor lobby. She found a place where she could observe the elevator and waited patiently.

…………

The "Midnight Entertainment" program ended successfully and the audience burst into warm applause.

Daisy was the first to leave the studio and head towards the ladies' dressing room.

Outside the studio, Edward saw her from behind and said to Hawke, "Boss, wait for me for a moment. I'll be back soon."

Hawke waved his hand casually.

Steve and Wilson came out one after another.

Hawke waved at the two men but did not go over.

After this show, the contract between the two parties officially ended.

Megan also came out, and was obviously in a good mood. She had a smile on her delicately made-up face. She stopped beside Hawke and said, "This incident started with Channel 11 and ended with Channel 11. It was perfect."

Hawke has always been simple and unpretentious: "Since it is so perfect, how about the production team giving me another $15?"

Megan's smile instantly disappeared, and she said, "The last party was postponed to this weekend because I was busy with your news. Do you have time?"

Hawke said the same thing: "Call me when you have confirmed the time and place."

Megan goes to remove her makeup.

Hawke had nothing to do, so he waited for Edward to come back and went downstairs to the elevator.

The two of them were sitting in the elevator, and Hawke asked curiously, "What did you do?"

Edward said: "I went to Daisy to ask for her contact information. She seemed to like black people very much and gave me a business card very happily."

Hawke was surprised: "When did you start liking married women?"

"No, I'm not interested in married women." Edward analyzed for Hawke: "Boss, you see, Daisy and Steve will definitely get divorced in the future. Wouldn't Daisy become a divorced woman with a child?"

What could Hawke say? He exclaimed, "You have a long-term vision."

The two came out of the elevator and prepared to leave Fox.

A blonde woman walked quickly from the side, appeared in front of Hawke, and greeted him, "Hawk Osmond?"

Hawke took a quick look at the person, who was about thirty years old, tall and mature. She was wearing a short skirt, stockings and high heels, which were common among Fox female anchors. Maybe it was because of the makeup, she had a kind of intellectual beauty.

He often came to the Fox Television Center, and although he had never seen the real person, he knew who it was.

Gretchen smiled and gestured to the lounge area on the side of the hall: "Want to talk for a few minutes alone?"

Hawke waved to Edward and followed Gretchen to the lounge and sat down.

Gretchen said directly: "I guess you know me. I am the anchor and producer of Ace News. If you have hot news, you can come to me directly."

Hawke certainly doesn’t rule out having another channel to sell news: “I only do hot news, so the price will be very high.”

"Your news appearing on my show will bring more than just monetary gains." Gretchen knows how to take advantage of this: "The prospects for the studio's development are completely different when news is broadcast during prime time or during late-night gossip time."

“My news is probably going to be mainly gossip,” Hawke said.

Gretchen said: "News like Steve Nutter can also be the headlines of my show."

She took out a card with her name and phone number printed on it and handed it to Hawke: "If you have any big news, feel free to contact me. Don't worry about the price."

Hawke put it away and handed her a business card, trying to sell her business: "In addition to news, my studio also accepts public relations consulting business. If you or someone around you needs anything, feel free to call me."

This was beyond Gretchen's expectations. She was stunned for a moment, and combined with Steve's news, she made some vague guesses and said, "I'll call you if I need anything."

Hawke said goodbye, met up with Edward, went out, got in the car and left.

Gretchen stared at the elevator entrance. She had just seen Claire escorting Steve and his group out.

She smiled and nodded to Claire, picked up her handbag and walked towards the door.

Gretchen deliberately chose a busy hall because she wanted to let Megan know that she was the trump card of Channel 11 and that resources were at her fingertips.

Claire saw Gretchen meeting Hawke, turned around and walked back, taking the elevator upstairs.

Over the past month, all the hottest news on Midnight Entertainment were provided by Hawke.

Claire knocked on the door and entered Megan's dressing room. Seeing that Megan had already removed her makeup, she waved to the makeup artist, and the makeup artist hurried out.

She closed the door and said to Megan, "Gretchen just came to Hawke."

Megan tied her long hair behind her head and said calmly, "I know."
