I am a fairy in Journey to the West

Chapter 500: Buddha’s Heart Breaks the Dilemma

Tang Sanzang was thirsty and hungry, and could not even walk. He did not know how long he had been trapped in the village, and he had run out of all the dry food he had brought.

He lay on the horse's back, feeling dizzy and unable to see the road clearly. He was also trembling and sweating profusely.

The Purple Dragon Horse remained unaffected, continuing to carry Tang Sanzang and wandering around the village roads again and again.

Just after the Purple Dragon Horse circled the village three times, a gatehouse suddenly appeared in the northeast corner of the village.

Upon seeing this, the Purple Dragon Horse immediately neighed with delight, trying to wake Tang Sanzang on its back.

However, Tang Sanzang was already so hungry that he was weak and dizzy, and he did not respond at all no matter how much the Purple Dragon Horse neighed.

Seeing this, the Purple Dragon Horse had no choice but to start walking and enter the gatehouse.

A magnificent Buddhist temple appeared before the Purple Dragon Horse. When the Purple Dragon Horse looked back, the gate tower at the entrance of the village was still there, and the village behind it was clearly visible.

So the purple dragon horse carried Tang Sanzang to the outside of the Buddhist temple. Looking up, he saw the three large characters "Wanfo Temple" written on the plaque above the main gate of the temple.

The purple dragon horse arrived at the temple gate and neighed a few times. Soon, a monk came out; it was the Bodhisattva of Physical Space.

"Namo Space Bodhisattva." The Physical Space Bodhisattva chanted a Buddhist chant, then stepped forward and carried Tang Sanzang off the Purple Dragon Horse.

Then another Bodhisattva came out and led the Purple Dragon Horse into the stable, feeding it hay and water.

Tang Sanzang was then transported to the meditation room by the Bodhisattva of Physical Space. Soon, Tang Sanzang smelled the fragrance of porridge, and he subconsciously opened his mouth.

Then a mouthful of warm porridge entered Tang Sanzang's mouth, and he immediately swallowed it greedily.

A moment later, Tang Sanzang drank a bowl of thin porridge, sighed comfortably, and then fell into a deep sleep.

After sleeping for an unknown amount of time, Tang Seng smelled the aroma of food again. He opened his eyes, sat up from the couch, and stretched.

He then turned his head to look at the figures in front of him, and saw four monks sitting at the table looking at him.

Tang Sanzang quickly got up from the bed, put on his shoes, stepped forward, and bowed, saying, "This humble monk is..."

"Tang Sanzang." Before Tang Sanzang could even finish introducing himself, the four monks in front of him called out his name directly.

Tang Sanzang was taken aback and quickly asked, "Do the four monks recognize this humble monk?"

One of them said, "You worship Buddha every day, how could we not recognize you?"

Tang Sanzang was startled again. He carefully examined the four monks before him and then respectfully asked, "May I ask the Dharma names of the four masters?"

The speaker said, "I am the Avatamsaka Bodhisattva under the seat of Vairocana Buddha."

Tang Sanzang was taken aback and was about to bow when he heard someone beside him say, "I am the master of Little Sumeru Mountain, and my Buddhist name is Lingji."

Then a third person said, "I am the master of Lumen Temple, and my Dharma name is Xukongzang."

The last person said, "I am the 'Bodhisattva of Many Treasures and Good Vision' bestowed by Vairocana Buddha."

Upon hearing the Dharma names of the four monks before him, all of whom were Bodhisattvas in Buddhism, Tang Sanzang was filled with disbelief, even though he was unfamiliar with this Bodhisattva Duobao Shanjian.

Tang Sanzang clasped his hands together, bowed, and asked, "Why are the four Bodhisattvas here?"

The Bodhisattva Huayan said, "Isn't it because you and your disciples were trapped in this demon's lair that you were trapped here?"

Tang Sanzang was astonished and asked again, "Then it was four Bodhisattvas who saved this humble monk today?"

“No.” Bodhisattva Akasagarbha shook his head and said, “This is the lair of the demon, Wanfo Temple. It was the demons of Wanfo Temple who brought you in and handed you over to us to take care of.”

"This..." Tang Sanzang was taken aback again, then looked at the four and asked, "May I ask the four Bodhisattvas, since you were not imprisoned by demons, why did you not escape from this place?"

The Bodhisattva Duobao Shanjian smiled and said, "You're doubting our identities, aren't you?"

"No, no," Tang Sanzang said. "It's just that I was quite surprised to see four Bodhisattvas in this demon village."

Lingji Bodhisattva smiled and said, "You don't need to doubt our identities."

As he spoke, Bodhisattva Lingji lifted his monk's robe, and Tang Sanzang stared at it, immediately turning pale with shock.

Beneath the robes of the Bodhisattva Lingji, a radiant Buddhist light shone, yet his body, enveloped in the light, was covered with bloody holes.

Then Bodhisattva Lingji said, “We are seriously injured and have been captured by that Buddha of the End of Dharma and brought into this Wanfo Temple. There is no way we can escape.”

Tang Sanzang's face turned to horror. He turned his head and saw that Huayan Bodhisattva had also revealed his injuries, which were caused by the Gatling gun fire.

"Alright," said Bodhisattva Duobao Shanjian. "You're so hungry today that you're practically unconscious. Here's a vegetarian meal for you to eat."

Upon hearing this, Tang Sanzang felt an intense hunger pang, so he clasped his hands together in a gesture of respect to the four people and began to eat his vegetarian meal.

After a short while, having finished their tea and meal, the four Bodhisattvas rose to leave. Tang Sanzang hurriedly asked, "Where are you going, Bodhisattvas?"

The Bodhisattva Huayan turned around and said, "Go and find a way to escape from this place. This is really not a place for a human to stay."

Lingji Bodhisattva said with a pained expression, "This place is simply a chaotic mess of demons. Even though we have seen through the illusions of the mortal world and severed our seven emotions and six desires, we cannot bear it. If this continues, I'm afraid our cultivation will decline."

After saying this, the four of them left the room, and Tang Sanzang hurriedly followed the four bodhisattvas out.

As soon as he stepped out of the room, he was immediately greeted by a dense chorus of chanting from all directions. However, Tang Sanzang could not understand what the chanting was about, so he asked the four Bodhisattvas for their guidance.

The four Bodhisattvas also said with helpless expressions, "We don't understand either."

The Bodhisattva Huayan said, "Tang Sanzang, this is a demon's lair, filled with demons. Can you understand the scriptures they chant?"

Tang Sanzang thought about it and agreed, but at that moment a voice rang out from the side, "If you can understand people speaking, you can understand people chanting scriptures."

Tang Sanzang looked up and saw a monk wearing a robe embroidered with gold characters walking over.

The Bodhisattva Duobao laughed and said, "You can speak human language, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can recite the true scriptures."

The monk laughed and said, "You can recite the true scriptures, yet you're still trapped here and can't get out? I told you that the teachings of your Ling Mountain are false, and you still won't admit it."

"Nonsense," said Bodhisattva Lingji. "No matter how well you demons disguise yourselves, you are not true Buddhas or Bodhisattvas. Although we are in temporary distress, as long as we uphold the true Dharma, we are not something you demons can impersonate." The monk smiled calmly, then walked up to Tang Sanzang, put his hands together and said, "This must be Tang Sanzang, the pilgrim from the Great Tang Dynasty of the East? I am the Nuclear Bomb Bodhisattva under the seat of the Buddha of the Dharma-ending Age."

Tang Sanzang laughed and said, "There is no such Bodhisattva in Buddhism."

The nuclear bomb bodhisattva laughed and said, "We say we have it, and we have it."

Tang Sanzang said, "If I say no, then no."

The Nuclear Bomb Bodhisattva said, "It didn't exist in the past, it doesn't exist now, and it will exist in the future."

Tang Sanzang said, "The future is the future, the present is the present. If it doesn't exist now, then it doesn't exist."

As soon as Tang Sanzang finished speaking, the Nuclear Bomb Bodhisattva was forced to retreat seven steps, and then he could no longer get close to Tang Sanzang.

"As expected of a holy monk from the East, this humble monk is in awe." The Nuclear Bomb Bodhisattva smiled slightly, then put his hands together and turned to leave.

The four Bodhisattvas were astonished by this scene and looked at Tang Sanzang. Lingji Bodhisattva asked, "How did you do that?"

Tang Sanzang put his hands together and smiled, saying, "This disciple is devoted to the Buddha, and the true nature will naturally manifest."

Upon hearing this, the four bodhisattvas exchanged glances, then exclaimed in admiration, "Indeed, he is the one who will go on the pilgrimage."

At this moment, Bodhisattva Akasagarbha said, "It seems that only Tang Sanzang has a chance to escape from here."

Upon hearing this, the other three Bodhisattvas immediately led Tang Sanzang to the gate of Wanfo Temple.

When they arrived, a monk was already waiting there. The monk chanted a Buddhist prayer: "Namo Ludlu Tuofo".

Then the monk looked at the five people and said, "I am the Bodhisattva who blocks the way."

The four bodhisattvas pushed Tang Sanzang forward and said, "Go."

When Tang Sanzang saw that the Bodhisattva blocking the way had a fierce look on his face and was holding a long knife and a sword, he hesitated for a moment and said, "This humble monk is not good at fighting."

Huayan Bodhisattva said, "At most, you'll take two cuts."

Tang Sanzang retreated repeatedly, saying, "Bodhisattva is joking. It's no big deal for the Bodhisattvas to take two cuts, but if this poor monk takes two cuts, I'm afraid I'll meet Yama right away. This is bad, this is bad."

The Bodhisattva Akasagarbha said, "You managed to talk that nuclear bomb Bodhisattva away with just a few words, so what are you afraid of this Bodhisattva blocking your way?"

Tang Sanzang said to the Bodhisattva Akasagarbha, "That Bodhisattva with the nuclear bomb relies on words, and words cannot harm me. But this Bodhisattva blocking the way has real swords and knives in his hand, and can harm me."

Lingji Bodhisattva said, "As a monk, why are you so timid and hesitant?"

Tang Sanzang said, "Bodhisattva comes from the Western Land, so naturally he does not know the true scriptures of the Eastern Land."

"Oh?" The four bodhisattvas exchanged glances, momentarily doubting whether this Tang Sanzang was truly real. So, Bodhisattva Lingji asked, "You said there are any true scriptures in the East?"

Tang Sanzang said, "A wise man does not stand under a dangerous wall; this is the true scripture of the East."

The Bodhisattva Akasagarbha asked, "Since the true scriptures are in the East, why do you still need to go to the West to obtain them?"

Tang Sanzang said, "As a disciple of Buddhism, I naturally have the responsibility to spread the true scriptures of Buddhism to the East and benefit all living beings. This is the decree of the Buddha and the mission of my disciple."

The Bodhisattva Duobao Shanjian smiled and said to the other three Bodhisattvas, "It seems we can't argue with him."

Huayan Bodhisattva said, "In the end, this Tang Sanzang still doesn't believe our identities. If we hadn't lost our powers here, would he still dare to be so eloquent if we revealed our true forms?"

After saying this, Huayan Bodhisattva, without waiting for Tang Sanzang's response, reached out and gave Tang Sanzang a hard push on the back, sending him flying towards the Bodhisattva blocking the way.

The Bodhisattva who blocked the road shouted, and immediately wielded a sword in his left hand and a knife in his right, slashing fiercely.

When Tang Sanzang saw the Bodhisattva blocking his way and charging towards him, he was indeed very panicked and terrified at first, but then he quickly realized something.

When passing through Wuji Kingdom, the king was pushed into a well and drowned. Later, Sun Wukong obtained a golden pill from Laozi and saved him.

Moreover, after a person dies, their soul returns to the underworld, which is equivalent to escaping this predicament, isn't it?
If they can escape this predicament and seek help, once the gods and Buddhas have subdued the demons here, Wukong and the others will surely find a way to save themselves after they are freed.

Thinking of this, Tang Sanzang's fear instantly vanished, and he became eager to die, wanting to go out and seek rescue.

When the Bodhisattva's sword and knife fell on Tang Sanzang, everyone was stunned.

The knife and sword in the hands of the Bodhisattva blocking the way passed right through Tang Sanzang's body without harming him at all. Moreover, Tang Sanzang's body began to become ethereal, as if he was about to leave this place at any moment.

The four bodhisattvas behind him reacted immediately upon seeing this scene. Huayan Bodhisattva said, "Quickly, follow closely behind Tang Sanzang."

So the four Bodhisattvas quickly arrived at Tang Sanzang's side and reached out to grab him.

Then the Bodhisattvas blocked the way with their swords and knives. The four Bodhisattvas not only failed to capture Tang Sanzang, but were instead knocked to the ground by the Bodhisattvas blocking the way.

"That's not right." The Bodhisattva Akasagarbha, who had been knocked to the ground, looked puzzled and said, "Why was Tang Sanzang able to find a way to survive, but we couldn't?"

The Bodhisattva Huayan asked, "Could it be that his Buddhist teachings are superior to ours?"

Lingji Bodhisattva said, "I'm not joking. His previous life was Jin Chanzi."

Then, Tang Sanzang's figure completely disappeared from everyone's sight, and when Tang Sanzang could see everything clearly again, he found that he had already appeared outside the village.

Tang Sanzang hurriedly turned around and saw that the village was still there, but he was standing outside the village.

At this moment, the world was still filled with heavy snow. Tang Sanzang looked around but did not see Sun Wukong, the White Dragon, Zhu Bajie, or Sha Wujing. He did not even see the Purple Dragon Horse.

A voice quickly came from above: "Elder Tang?"

Upon hearing the voice, Tang Sanzang hurriedly looked up and saw Maha Jieti descend from the clouds and land before him, asking with a surprised expression, "Elder Tang, why did you come out alone? Where are the four Bodhisattvas?"

Upon hearing this, Tang Sanzang's expression changed, and he hurriedly asked, "Which four Bodhisattvas?"

Mahagate said, "It was the four Bodhisattvas, Prabhutaratna, Avatamsaka, Akasagarbha, and Lingji, who also went in to save you. How come you didn't see them?"
