Chapter 12 The Disguised Polar Bear
He circled Caesar in disbelief, his eyes constantly scrutinizing him.

Caesar's ear was injured, and it looked like the wound had been reopened before it had fully healed, causing the scabbed wound to burst open again, and blood dripped down, turning the white fur red.

One of its front paws was also injured; the wound was thin and deep, clearly caused by a bite.

Half of the bear was stained red with blood, and it looked badly injured.

Slok was stunned; he couldn't believe that the bear in front of him was Caesar.

If he knew that these three wounds were all from the same bear, or that they were inflicted in two separate incidents over two days, he would definitely scream!
After all, the bears around were all afraid of Caesar, and even the male bears dared not easily provoke him, so he had not seen Caesar like this for a long time.

Slok's eyes instantly welled up with tears, and he asked in a trembling voice:
"Are you in a lot of pain? Or... or should I lick it for you?"

As he spoke, he stretched his neck and brought his mouth close to Caesar's face.

Although he looked very sad and spoke as if he was worried about Caesar's injury, his body language betrayed him!

Caesar turned his head and saw him bristling, his head desperately stretching towards him, but his body didn't move an inch, and his hind leg had already taken a step to the side.

The bear was in a very strange posture, with its neck stretched out and its body tucked together.

—She was clearly afraid of being beaten, but also wanted to please him.

Slok stretched his neck as far as he could while secretly glancing at Caesar, as if he would run away at the slightest movement from Caesar!
Caesar sat in the snow, looking down at him, taking in all his little tricks.

Slok finally "slowly" moved his mouth to Caesar's injured paw and chuckled wickedly twice:
"So, I licked it? I really licked it?"

Caesar stared at him coldly, his bear face expressionless, until Slok cautiously stuck out his tongue, and then his bear paw lashed out!
"Snapped--"

"Ow—"

The sound of a bear's face being slapped and the bear's scream rang out at the same time!

Slok was suddenly slapped, stunned for a second or two, then his eyes rolled in the third second, and he screamed and fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
"Ouch, ouch, you hit my tongue, waaaaaah..."

He covered his face with his bear paws and peered at Caesar through the gaps between them.

Seeing that he seemed unmoved, they immediately intensified their efforts!

"Waaaaah! The Xiong family was just concerned about you, how could you treat me like this?!"

The massive 700-kilogram creature rolled around wildly in the snow, its paws in the air, wiggling its rear end and grunting. It looked even more mischievous than a newborn bear cub.

Unfortunately, Caesar was his brother, not his mother, and he remained unmoved.

He just gazed at the snow-capped mountains from afar, lost in thought.

Slok rolled around for a while and then got bored, so he obediently got up and sat on the snow, slowly moving his bottom toward Caesar.

He muttered under his breath:

"Are you really okay? You look very bad."

Caesar raised his paw and clicked his tongue.

That's the downside of white fur; as soon as it bleeds, it looks like it's about to die. Some stupid bears might see this and dare to come up and provoke it, which is troublesome.

...However, the wounds on his claws were not minor; one could tell that the mother bear had intended to kill him.

He was careless and underestimated her, so he deserved to pay this price.

Caesar's eyes darkened as he thought of the mother bear.

For some reason, he didn't feel the urge to kill the bear, but he also didn't want to let her go so easily.

Although she escaped so easily yesterday, it doesn't matter. He has a good sense of smell. As long as the bear doesn't just appear out of thin air in the Arctic and then disappear again, he will definitely be able to find her!
Just as I was lost in thought, I suddenly felt a weight on my back!
Caesar snapped out of his daze, lowered his paws, and found that Slok had somehow snuggled up to him, his bear face pressed against his back, his paws tightly embracing him.

Caesar bared his teeth and growled in a low voice:
"Go away!"

This time, Slok didn't listen, and his voice sounded somewhat aggrieved:

"No!" Caesar roared, raising his paw to swat him!

Slok wouldn't let go, burying his head under his stomach to expose his round buttocks, clearly determined not to let go no matter what!
Caesar kicked him with his hind paws:
"what are you doing?"

Slok held him tightly, and after a long while, whispered:
"Can you fight less in the future?"

"What?!" Caesar almost thought he had misheard; he was about to laugh in exasperation at his stupid younger brother.

It is common for polar bears to fight with their own kind in this icy land. If a male bear does not have the courage to fight with its own kind, it is as if it has lost its dignity in this land!

Slok dared not look up at Caesar, afraid of meeting his stern gaze.

After a long pause, he heard Caesar's indifferent voice:
"Go away."

He knew that Caesar was already suppressing his anger.

He was angry at his own cowardice.

Slok remained silent for a moment, then quietly released his claws.

Caesar shoved him away with his uninjured paw, stood up, shook the snow off his clothes, and stared intently at Slok, who dared not look at him. After a long while, he turned and left, leaving behind only one sentence:
"I thought that since you were able to successfully mate with a female bear, you wouldn't be as weak as before. When will you be able to live on your own?"

Slok sat there with his head down, tears glistening in his eyes. Finally, he curled up into a huge ball of fur, clutching his head tightly with his paws and burying it in the snow.

Doesn't he understand why he must "live well" on his own?!
He and Caesar were brothers, but their personalities were completely different.

Compared to the independent and powerful Caesar, he appeared much weaker.

He didn't want to be separated from his brother, didn't want to leave his mother, and didn't want to live alone.

But in the end, he was the only one left behind.

His mother had left this snowy region to get rid of him, and so much time had passed that he could no longer find her.

Caesar, like all male bears, was belligerent, but Slok did not want that.

In battle, there will inevitably be death. Although Caesar is strong and powerful now, one day a bear stronger than him will appear.

Although his mother had other cubs before raising him and Caesar, she may have continued to have cubs after leaving.

However, polar bears have weak family ties; in this world, only Caesar is his brother, and he only has one brother, Caesar.

Therefore, he was afraid to compete with other bears, and even more afraid that Caesar would fight with other bears.

But he dared not say a single word of these things to Caesar.

These words are so strange to polar bears that, in the eyes of all polar bears, a bear that can say such things is simply not normal.

So he could only force himself to get used to life as an adult polar bear, to get used to laughing and praising Caesar for being strong after he fought with other bears, and even to get used to disguising himself and becoming a bear that "looks aggressive".

Watching Caesar's retreating figure, Slok collapsed onto the snow, quietly blaming himself:
"I messed up again..."

They had been behaving very well for the past two months, but today they couldn't help but reveal their true colors again.

Caesar's figure had gradually disappeared from sight, and Slok, as usual, fell into a state of confusion:
Did Caesar really need a brother like him? What was the right thing for him to do?

Fun Fact:

Bears are very intelligent animals and have a strong ability to imitate.

Whether standing and walking like a human or sitting, bears can do it all with ease, which is why they often play a terrifying role in human legends.

In addition, polar bears need to stay by the female's side for a long time to mate, and then repeatedly defeat competitors, often leaving the male bears covered in wounds.

However, Slok seems to have his little secret.
