Chapter 55 The Egg-Stealing Bear

Guo Mi, leading two bear cubs, struggled to move forward despite the attacks from seabirds.

Polar bears do eat carrion; if the meat isn't too spoiled and food is scarce, they will eat it.

When she's with her two little bears, she'll look for fresh food whenever possible, and if she can't find anything fresh, she'd rather not eat it at all. So, the stench that Caesar could tolerate was hell for Guo Mi and her two little bears!

The two bear cubs probably had a congenital reaction, not as severe as hers, but they still suffered a lot!

Caesar and Slok stood there watching the giant furball run away with the two smaller furballs before turning their attention away.

Slok felt a chill run down his spine when he thought of Guo Mi's previous miserable state, and said with sympathy:
"Guo Mi is so pitiful."

Caesar watched the round-faced bear's figure disappear before leaving his sight, then suddenly snorted coldly upon hearing Slok's words:
"If she had listened to advice, she wouldn't have stayed on the island eating bird eggs."

Slok blinked and whispered:

"But we also have to stay on the island and eat bird eggs."

Caesar froze, then stared coldly at Slok until the polar bear shrank into a ball before looking away and sneering, "Only a spineless bear would eat bird eggs, like you."

Slok's eyes lit up; he didn't take Caesar's mockery to heart at all, his bright eyes fixed on Caesar with burning gaze.

"Can we find something to eat? I'm so hungry!"

Caesar choked, squinting as he scrutinized Slok, wondering what exactly was in the bear's brain.
Slok directly harassed Caesar:
"I'm so hungry, I'm starving—"

Caesar was enraged and raised his paw to deliver a powerful slap to Slok's head:
"Shut up!"

Slok immediately shrank back:

"Oh."

Caesar glared at him irritably, but two seconds later he heard Slok mutter to himself:
"But I'm so hungry..."

The male bear closed his eyes, barely suppressing the urge to slap him, his mind filled with only the thought, "This bear is beyond saving, there's no point in holding onto any hope."

Caesar managed to capture an Arctic fox, but even with such a small amount of meat, Slok shamelessly tore off half of it.

They certainly wouldn't get enough to eat, but polar bears are very resilient to hunger, so they won't be in any trouble even if they don't eat.

The weather is getting hotter, so it'll be better at the beach.

The two male bears found a rock that was half-soaked by seawater, lay down on it, and enjoyed the sea breeze and the cooling effect of the seawater, taking a lazy nap.

But they soon discovered that Guo Mi had returned.

She was soaking wet, clearly having been in the water for a long time, but once bird droppings get on her feathers, they can't be cleaned simply by soaking.

Slok sat up abruptly, surprised:
"She wants to eat bird eggs?!"

Caesar half-closed his eyes and squinted as he looked over, only to find that only Guo Mi, the bear, had come over, while two bear cubs sat watching from a distance.

The crazy little birds that had just built their nest saw that the intruder had returned. The flock of birds, which had just won a battle, was full of fighting spirit and immediately launched an attack on Guo Mi!
Caesar watched as Gomi took two eggs out of the nest, tasted them, then put her beak back into the nest. When she raised her head again, her beak was slightly open, as if she had something in her mouth.

Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be a few tiny bird eggs!

Not only did they eat it, but they also showed off the eggs while biting them, which was a disgrace to the flock of birds that had just won a battle!
If it was just a crazy bird a moment ago, it has now become a mad bird!
The red-billed bird, seeing the egg, disregarded everything else and began frantically shooing at Guo Mi's face!

Seven or eight birds crashed into Guo Mi's round face, trying to get her to put the eggs down!

Guo Mi stood there motionless, with the egg in her mouth and her eyes closed.

Just as Caesar was wondering what she was up to, two more birds crashed into Guo Mi's face, this time right near her beak!

The bear, which had been closing its eyes to be pecked, suddenly opened its blood-red maw and quickly turned its head to bite!
In the blink of an eye, when she looked again, Guo Mi had two birds' little red feet in her mouth. She just let the two birds struggle upside down by her mouth and slowly walked away with the birds in her mouth.

The startled flock of birds and the two dumbfounded male bears remained behind.

The bird in the picture is the Arctic tern, a bird species unique to the Arctic. It is the only migratory bird in the world that can fly from the South Pole to the North Pole and back within a year.

Arctic terns are known for their foul-smelling droppings, as their main food source is seafood. They also cherish their young and are known to be aggressive towards intruders, often resorting to vomiting and defecating as a form of "biological attack" to drive them away. They are said to be nicknamed "bird bombers" among Arctic research team members.



