Chapter 20 New Industry Startups
In the blink of an eye, it was January 11st.
Jiang Miao came to the cannery to inspect.
"Boss, this is our newly purchased soft-pack canned food production line..." Li Xinhua put on protective clothing and a breathing hood and introduced the production line to him.
This production line does not have too many automated equipment. The core is the disinfection equipment and packaging equipment, and the other parts are operated manually.
It’s not that Hailufeng Company cannot afford automated equipment, but that automated equipment is not cost-effective, and sometimes, the size of the workforce is also an advantage.
Jiang Miao, also wearing protective clothing and a breathing helmet, picked up a bag of yaki eel, which was a whole eel, mainly supplied to sushi restaurants and Japanese restaurants.
“Is this the first batch of products that are officially produced?”
"Yes, I arranged 2000 copies in the first batch to see how the market reacts."
Jiang Miao nodded: "Okay, you can contact the online store department! By the way, how is the eel inventory?"
Li Xinhua then explained: "At present, the breeding farm eliminates 5000 white eels every half a month. The tinplate can production line can consume 1000 eels every day. In addition, the soft-pack can production line can also consume 1000 eels every day. The inventory can only support about two or three days. In order to save costs, I arrange the production of tinplate cans first, then stop production and arrange employees to work on the soft-pack cans. This way, I can ensure 10 days of production time every month."
Jiang Miao actually knew this.
There was nothing wrong with Li Xinhua's strategy. Some of the production line workers in the cannery were paid two weeks' salary anyway. After they had worked on the production line for a full month, they would be paid one month's salary.
Currently, the employees on the canned food production line are basically at the D1 level, with a monthly salary of 3500 yuan, including food but not accommodation.
If you work for two weeks, it will be calculated as half a month, and the actual salary is 1750 yuan. The five insurances will be paid by the company and do not need to be deducted from the employee's basic salary.
It doesn't look high, but many locals still flock to it.
The main thing is that food is provided, and the company provides five social insurances. If they can work for a full month, many production line workers are actually willing to do so. However, the farm does not have so many discarded eels, so they can only produce for one week and rest for one week.
After inspecting the cannery, Jiang Miao drove directly to the farm.
The new breeding base is still under construction overtime.
The open-air fish ponds that have been bought have also been put into use one after another, and the mature eels purchased from various places have been put back into the open-air fish ponds for customized feeding.
These matters have always been managed by his brother-in-law and father, so he went directly to his own seed laboratory.
At present, the first batch of planted strawberries have begun to bloom, and some of the early-maturing types have already begun to produce strawberries.
A middle-aged employee who was in charge of the daily work of the greenhouse saw him coming and quickly put down the shower head.
"boss."
"Lao Lin, how are the strawberries today?"
Lao Lin quickly said, "Boss, some strawberries should be ripe today."
Jiang Miao went to the container room to get the sweetness meter and notebook.
Li Wenna also helped to get a portable plastic box, which contained small boxes and labels, scissors, and tissues.
Walking into the greenhouse, 35 varieties of strawberry seedlings have been separated and divided into small areas with plastic film as partitions to avoid cross-pollination and affect the genetic purity of the varieties.
At present, through the propagation of successive creepers, seven or eight plants of each variety have been cultivated.
The ones that have borne fruit this time are all old plants from the beginning. The newly cultivated divisions will take at least another month to bloom and bear fruit.
"Boss, this is the breed."
Jiang Miao glanced at the label on the planting bag: C12
There were 6 strawberries hanging at the base of the strawberry runner, 3 red and 3 green. One of the red strawberries was indeed ripe, because he saw the data on the identification panel.
Picking it with scissors, he washed it a little, then cut the strawberry into five parts, leaving one part for seeds, and picked up another part to squeeze out the juice and drip it on the sweetness meter.
The sweetness is 14.8, which is acceptable. Although it is not as good as the top-quality Dandong strawberry, Jiang Miao pays more attention to its fruit shape because the specialty of this variety is its large fruit and long storage life.
"Try it."
The three of them tasted it carefully.
"It's very sweet, but a little sour, and the flesh is relatively firm." Li Wenna expressed her feelings.
"Yeah, it's really sweet." Lao Lin was like Zhu Bajie eating the ginseng fruit, swallowing it whole.
Jiang Miao carefully held the flesh on his tongue, savoring its various flavors.
First it is sweet, then slightly sour, and then the unique aroma of strawberry. This aroma is more like a combination of cantaloupe and jasmine, but the aroma is relatively light and you need to taste it carefully to feel it.
Fill in these flavor evaluation results one by one in the record book.
Next, we found 11 varieties with ripe fruits, and we also took samples, tested the sugar content, tasted them, and recorded them.
Through this real evaluation, he directly eliminated 3 varieties because the flavors of those 3 varieties were very strange. One had a slight smell of mud, one had a distinct bitterness, and one tasted as light as water.
The more valuable ones are C22 and C26 varieties.
The flavor of C22 is highly similar to that of Akihime strawberry, but the cream flavor is more prominent. It is also heat-resistant and can withstand the high temperature of 35 degrees Celsius in Lingnan in summer, thus ensuring sweetness, disease resistance, flavor and yield.
The flavor of C26 is somewhat different from previous strawberries. This variety has a unique vanilla flavor and a flavor similar to passion fruit. Its only weakness is that it cannot withstand high temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius, so it can only be grown in the winter in Lingnan.
Of course, the remaining seven varieties actually have their advantages as well.
For example, the C12 variety that we tried at the beginning has relatively large fruits, which can reach the size of duck eggs, and the yield is also very high. It is estimated that the yield per mu in the greenhouse can reach about 4.5 tons to 5 tons.
In addition, C12 has good flavor and sweetness, can withstand the high temperatures of Lingnan in summer, and is storable, so this variety also has commercial value.
After Jiang Miao tasted the first batch of fruits and recorded the relevant evaluation data, he had already made a plan in his mind.
First of all, there are definitely not enough greenhouses in the farm.
After all, a mature strawberry contains 150 to 200 seeds, and with the help of runner reproduction, a large number of strawberry seedlings can be cultivated quickly.
Calculated based on an average of 5000 to 6000 strawberry seedlings per acre.
At present, there are at least five or six varieties that need to be initially expanded in the greenhouse, and each variety requires at least 5 acres of land.
That is to say, at least 30 acres of land are needed.
Fortunately, there are many abandoned farmlands in Yancheng Village. He plans to rent 100 acres of vegetable land nearby and build a strawberry greenhouse base.
With a planting base, in the future, whether selling strawberries directly or exporting strawberry seedlings, it will be a good business.
However, Jiang Miao does not plan to hand this matter over to his brother-in-law and father. After all, an eel farm is busy enough, and adding a strawberry base to it will easily lead to a situation where he is not able to take care of the whole thing.
Therefore, he planned to find another manager to specifically manage the strawberry base.
Fortunately, the company has gradually matured. Jiang Miao directly instructed Li Wenna to notify Jiang Haibo from the Human Resources Department to recruit an outsider with farm management experience.
At the same time, Li Wenna was asked to notify Wang Feng from the purchasing department and ask him to rent a vegetable field of about 100 acres in Yancheng Village or several villages in the nearby Magong Town as a strawberry planting base.
