Chapter 280: Trying out a completely new way of using abilities!

"Your progress is astonishing," Rowan exclaimed sincerely. "Your psychic talent is truly exceptional. However, the real test is yet to come. Next, I will introduce the power of laws to see if you can maintain efficient psychic control while using the Law of Metal."

Meanwhile, in Training Room Two, Thor and Hong had been sparring for over an hour. This training room was more spacious than Training Room One, with a circular design. Numerous energy absorption devices were embedded in the walls to absorb excess elemental energy and prevent the training from spiraling out of control. Several enormous energy monitoring spheres hung from the ceiling, displaying real-time fluctuations in the room's elemental energy.

Thor stood at one end of the training room, Thunder Blade in hand, his entire body enveloped in a faint blue electric aura. His eyes gleamed with excitement, clearly filled with anticipation for the sparring session.

“Hong, let’s not stand on ceremony,” Thor grinned. “We’ve all been through the third round, no need to hold back. Of course, we’ll stop here.”

Hong stood at the other end of the training room, holding twin light-bladed spears, his eyes calm as still water. He nodded slightly, indicating his agreement with Thor's suggestion.

Without a word, Thor launched his first attack. He took a step forward, raising his Thunder Blade high, shouting, "Thunder Slash!"

A blue arc of electricity shot out from the tip of the blade, like a furious blue dragon, aiming straight for Hong's chest. The attack was extremely fast and quite powerful, but it was clearly not delivered with full force.

Hong did not dodge, but instead raised his right hand and whispered, "Wall of Light."

A transparent barrier composed of pure light appeared before him. The electric arc struck the barrier, erupting with a blinding blue-white light and a deafening crackling sound. The power of the electric arc was completely absorbed by the barrier of light, then dissipated into tiny particles of light into the air.

"As expected of the Light Element Laws," Thor exclaimed. "The resistance to energy attacks is truly astonishing. However, this is just a warm-up!"

Having said that, he gripped the sword with both hands, and the lightning on the blade suddenly intensified. "Thunder Domain, Third Level!"

With a deafening roar of thunder, a blue energy field, about five meters in diameter, formed around Thor. Electric currents surged within the field, emitting a piercing crackling sound, and metal components on the ground began to vibrate slightly due to the powerful electromagnetic field.

"Come on, Hong! Let me see if your light-based laws can break through my thunder domain!" Thor challenged.

Hong maintained his almost indifferent calm, but a hint of interest flashed in his eyes. He crossed his twin light-bladed spears in front of his chest and said softly, "Rhythm of Light, begin."

In an instant, countless tiny points of light appeared in the air around Hong, twinkling like fireflies. These points of light began to pulsate in a peculiar rhythm, forming a complex array of light.

"Rhythm of Light - A Thousand Arrows Piercing the Heart!"

With a soft shout from Hong, all the points of light shot towards Thor simultaneously, transforming into countless tiny arrows of light. These arrows appeared delicate and fragile, but each contained pure light-based energy, possessing astonishing penetrating power.

Thor remained calm, instead revealing an expectant smile. He plunged his Thunder Blade into the ground, forming hand seals, and chanted, "Thunder Domain - Electromagnetic Barrier!"

The electric current within the lightning field suddenly changed direction, forming a rotating electromagnetic barrier. When the light arrows came into contact with the barrier, they were abruptly derailed by the powerful electromagnetic force, spinning around it and ultimately being mostly guided towards the ceiling and the ground.

However, a few beams of light still managed to break through the electromagnetic barrier, striking Thor's shoulders and legs and leaving several shallow burn marks.

"A decent defense," Hong Nan commented, "The way electromagnetic force interferes with light is quite ingenious."

Thor grinned, rubbing his shoulder where the light arrow had struck him. "There are still loopholes, but it was definitely effective. It seems we each have our strengths."

The two took a short break to prepare for the next round of combat. This time, Thor didn't rush to attack, but instead began to try a new way of using his abilities.

“I’ve been thinking about something lately,” Thor explained, adjusting the form of his lightning field. “What is the essence of lightning? It’s the flow of energy, the movement of particles, and more fundamentally, the manifestation of a natural phenomenon. And light is the same, right?”

Hong nodded slightly, seemingly somewhat surprised by Thor's sudden philosophical thoughts.

“If we can understand the laws we control more deeply, perhaps we can discover new ways to apply them,” Thor continued, his eyes gleaming with wisdom, a rare sight for his usual carefree demeanor.

After speaking, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and relaxed all the muscles in his body. The shape of the Thunder Domain began to change, gradually transforming from its original spherical form into a more complex mesh structure, with current forming small energy vortices at the nodes of the network.

"Thunder Network, complete." Thor opened his eyes, which flashed with blue lightning.

Hong observed this change, a hint of appreciation flashing in his eyes. He seemed to understand Thor's thoughts and began to adjust his own light-based abilities. The light spots of the rhythmic light were no longer simply distributed as dots, but formed a lattice-like structure, with each light spot establishing some kind of connection with the surrounding light spots.

"The lattice of light is complete," Hong said softly.

Two distinct yet subtly connected abilities confronted each other in the training room, creating a peculiar and spectacular scene. The energy monitoring spheres continuously increased their readings, but remained within a safe range, indicating that both individuals had achieved a remarkably high level of control over their abilities.

"Shall we give it a try?" Thor suggested.

Hong nodded, and both sides launched their attacks simultaneously.

The Thunder Network expanded rapidly, enveloping the Flood, with each node releasing powerful electromagnetic pulses. Meanwhile, the Light Lattice transformed into countless beams of light, piercing through the gaps in the Thunder Network and heading straight for Thor.

The two abilities met in mid-air, but instead of the expected violent collision, they formed a peculiar fusion of energy. The electromagnetic pulse, guided by the light, changed its propagation path, while the light, aided by the electromagnetic field, amplified its power.

"This..." Thor stared in astonishment at the scene. "Our abilities can actually complement each other like this?"

Hong was slightly surprised, but then his expression softened with understanding. "Light and electricity are essentially the same."

The two immediately realized the importance of this discovery. If they could correctly utilize this energy complementarity in actual combat, it would greatly enhance their fighting capabilities. Over the next two hours, they began to explore the possibilities of this energy complementarity. They experimented with various combinations and release methods of their abilities, gradually figuring out some effective techniques.

As their training neared its end, Thor and Hong had both mastered several new ways to utilize their abilities. Thor learned how to enhance the accuracy and penetrating power of his lightning by guiding light; while Hong mastered the technique of using electromagnetic fields to accelerate the movement of light particles, thereby increasing his attack power.

"This sparring session was incredibly fruitful," Thor sighed contentedly, sheathing his Thunder Blade. "Thank you, Hong. Without your cooperation, I might never have imagined that lightning abilities could be used in this way."

Hong nodded, a rare smile appearing on his face. "We both benefit."

It was almost noon when the four of them reunited in the lounge to share their training experiences.

Luo Feng excitedly shared his progress in telekinesis control, "The 'Telekinesis Core' technique that Brother Wen taught me is amazing! Now I can control four targets simultaneously, and maintain stable telekinesis while using the Law of Metal!"

Rowan smiled slightly, "Your progress is indeed rapid. However, the real test is in actual combat. This afternoon we can conduct some simulated combat training to help you truly internalize these skills."

Thor and Hong also shared their findings, explaining in detail the possibility of complementary light and electrical energy.

"This is an important discovery," Rowan nodded seriously. "Being able to deeply understand the essence of one's own laws and find the connections with other laws is an essential step towards becoming a master of higher-level laws."

"Shall we continue sparring this afternoon?" Luo Feng asked, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Luo Wen pondered for a moment, "This afternoon we can switch up our team compositions. Luo Feng and Thor will be in one group, and Hong and I will be in another. This way we can try different ability combinations and broaden our combat strategies."

"Great!" Thor excitedly patted Luo Feng on the shoulder. "This afternoon I'm going to teach you properly how to make your Black Pattern Blade even sharper under the tempering of lightning!"

Luo Feng grinned, "I've also been wanting to experience Thor's Ninefold Thunder Domain! But, let's stop here, don't burn me to a crisp."

Everyone laughed, even Hong, who was usually silent, showed a slight smile.

After lunch, the four began their afternoon training according to their new group assignments. Luo Feng and Lei Shen went to Training Room Number One and began their sparring.

Thor stood in the center of the training room, Thunder Blade in hand, his body radiating a faint blue electric light. He looked at Luo Feng and smiled, "I heard from Brother Wen that you haven't been practicing the Law of Metal for very long, but you have great potential. Today, I'll help you unlock that potential!"

Luo Feng gripped the black-patterned blade tightly, took a deep breath, and said, "Please enlighten me!"

Thor didn't immediately use his Thunder Domain, but instead engaged in some basic close-quarters combat. His fighting style was fierce and powerful, each strike carrying the force of a thunderbolt, forcing Luo Feng to retreat continuously.

But as the battle progressed, Luo Feng gradually adapted to Thor's rhythm and began to try using his own Metal Law. Whenever the Black Pattern Blade clashed with the Thunder Battle Blade, Luo Feng would release a wisp of Metal Law energy to enhance the sharpness and hardness of the blades.

“A good application,” Thor approvingly said, “but the Laws of Metal go far beyond this. Try to see if you can guide the fluidity of the metal.”

Under Thor's guidance, Luo Feng began experimenting with a completely new way of utilizing his abilities—making the blade of the Black Pattern Blade flow and deform like a liquid, thereby changing the angle and range of his attacks. This is one of the advanced applications of the Law of Metal, requiring extremely high precision in control.

At first, Luo Feng could only bend the tip of the blade slightly, but with continuous practice, he gradually mastered the technique. By the end of his training, he was able to freely deform the blade of the black-patterned sword within a certain range, greatly enhancing the flexibility of his attacks.

Meanwhile, in Training Room Two, Luo Wen and Hong's sparring was also in full swing. As two powerful individuals who were close to achieving minor mastery of the laws, their exchanges focused more on the refinement of techniques and the innovation of abilities.

Rowan's Law of Fire and Hong's Law of Light are both energy-based laws, but they have different focuses. The Law of Fire emphasizes destructive power and intensity, while the Law of Light emphasizes penetrating power and precision.

“I’ve been pondering a question,” Rowan said, as he controlled the Starburst Sky-Splitter Blade to clash with Hong’s twin spears of light, “fire and light are both forms of energy. Is there some kind of complementary relationship between them, like between light and electricity?”

Hong nodded slightly, agreeing with the idea.

A few hours later.

The lights in the training room were dimmed slightly, and the energy absorption devices on the walls flickered with a faint blue light, adding a mysterious atmosphere to the space. The central area was completely cleared, providing ample room for Hong and Thor to move around. The surrounding energy monitoring devices had been set to maximum sensitivity, ready to record and analyze the energy fluctuations of the two at any moment.

Hong stood on the east side of the training room, dressed in a simple white battle robe with fine silver patterns along the edges, which shimmered faintly under the light. His face was calm as water, and his eyes were clear and deep, like two deep pools that could see through everything. His hands lightly gripped the twin light-bladed spears, the pair of silver-white short clubs looking exceptionally harmonious in his palms, as if they had been born to be there.

“We previously discovered that light and electricity are complementary,” Hong Shaoyou began, his voice low and calm, “and today we’ll explore that in more depth.”

Thor stood on the west side of the training room, clad in a sleeveless, black, form-fitting suit. The veins on his muscular arms were faintly visible, exuding immense power. A dark blue belt, embroidered with tiny lightning bolts, cinched his waist. His face bore his usual cheerful smile, but his eyes were unusually focused and serious. The Thunder Blade was slung across his back, the blue crystal on its hilt shimmering subtly under the light.

“That’s right,” Thor responded excitedly, rubbing his hands together. “I thought about it a lot last night. The combination of light and electricity might be more profound than we imagine. Electromagnetic waves themselves contain light components, and the energy of lightning can be converted into light. These two types of energy are essentially closely related.”

Hong nodded slightly, a hint of approval flashing in her eyes, clearly surprised and appreciating Thor's theoretical thinking.

“Let’s warm up first,” Hong said briefly, lightly gripping his twin light-bladed spears. Pale golden light blades, about a meter long, immediately extended from the spear tips—seemingly gentle, but in reality, incredibly sharp. “Basic sparring.”

"Alright!" Thor shouted in response, his hands twitching as he gripped the Thunder Blade, its blade crackling with faint blue electricity. "Let's start with a regular sparring match to get a feel for it!"
