Chapter 34: The Philosopher's Stone and the Map Chamber
That afternoon, the news that Harry had been admitted to the college Quidditch team spread throughout the school.
Even the ghosts floating around were talking about this matter, not to mention the other classmates.
"Seeker?" said Ron, in amazement, forgetting to put his pie in his mouth. "But first years never - you must be the youngest player on the house team in years."
"A century ago," Harry replied with a smile, and added, "Wood told me."
During his last six years at school, he couldn't even watch the school games, let alone participate in Quidditch.
I heard that a few years ago, a student fell off his broom, so Principal Black took this opportunity to stop the Quidditch sport in the school.
Not only did his classmates curse him in private, but even the ghosts were chattering behind his back, and some even made up a song to "praise" Principal Blake's "great achievements."
Ron nodded in understanding. After all, this good buddy did more than just catch the ball - he was holding a heavy Malfoy in his hand.
"I start training next week." Harry picked up the juice glass and clinked glasses with Ron. "By the way, did Malfoy say anything after I left?"
"Malfoy called Hermione a mudblood and Hermione washed his mouth out with Cleaner, just like you." Ron replied with a beaming face.
At this moment, Fred and George Weasley walked into the dining room. When they saw Harry, they walked quickly towards him.
"Good job, Harry," George whispered. "Wood told us that we are also on the college team - we are the batsmen, and our role is to protect you from getting beaten too badly."
"I'm telling you, we're definitely going to win the Quidditch Cup this year," said Fred. "We haven't won since Charlie left, but this year, our team will definitely be great. You're definitely great, Harry. Wood was so excited when he told us about this - he's as strict as a small Professor McGonagall when it comes to Quidditch, and we're willing to trust his judgment."
"We have to go though, Lee Jordan thinks he's discovered a new secret passage that leads outside the school."
George quickly chimed in, "I guess it's the passage behind the statue of Gregory the Flatterer. We found it the first week we entered the school. Goodbye."
"Honestly," Harry said to Ron after the twins left, "I've known them for so long and I still can't tell who's Fred and who's George..."
"Honestly, I can't tell either," Ron said, spreading his hands.
Hermione also sat down at this time, holding a thick old book in her arms, which seemed to be almost as big as her upper body.
"Oh my god, what is this?" Ron asked in amazement.
"An after-dinner pastime." Hermione slammed the book on the table.
"You call that entertainment?" Ron asked dryly.
Hermione gave him a stern look and Ron tactfully shut his mouth.
"Honestly," Ron turned his head to look at Draco who was chatting and laughing with Crabbe and Goyle, "the lesson of flying class was not deep enough. I think Malfoy should be taught a lesson."
Harry's good mood suddenly turned sour when he heard the name Malfoy.
If Cassandra knew there was such a bastard among her descendants, she would probably cast an Unforgivable Curse on his face right there and then, right?
Thinking of this, his mood became even worse, and his mind was full of the secret room on the map that he couldn't enter.
He was sure that there must be clues in the secret room on the map. But he was only eleven years old now. Did he have to wait for four years until he was fifteen and awakened ancient magic before he could enter the secret room on the map?
"Look." Ron picked up the newspaper beside him. "The Daily Prophet is still publishing the statement of the goblins from Gringotts. They still claim that Gringotts is the safest place."
Gringotts?
Harry suddenly recalled that when he accompanied Hagrid to get the small cloth bag, it clearly exuded the breath of ancient magic.
His intuition at the time told him that with the help of that thing, the age limit of ancient magic would no longer be a problem.
but……
Harry was still a little confused. After all, these were the headmaster's things and looked very precious. How could he convince the headmaster to let him borrow them?
Early the next morning, when Harry and Ron entered the Great Hall and sat down at the table for a while, owl messengers flew in.
Harry noticed that four or five owls, each holding a long, thin package in its talons, circled in the air for a moment and then landed right in front of him.
"Ah, my chicken drumstick!" Ron cried out in anguish as the package knocked his chicken drumstick to the ground.
Then he was attracted by the package.
"What exactly is this?"
"Hey, buddy, help me unpack the package so I can read this letter." Harry said to Ron.
After that, he opened the letter.
"Don't open the package on the table. It contains your newest broomstick, the Nimbus 2000, and I don't want anyone to know you have a new broomstick in case they want one."
"Oliver Wood will be waiting for you at the Quidditch pitch at seven tonight for your first training lesson. Professor Minerva McGonagall"
Harry put down the letter in his hand and tried to stop Ron from opening the package, but it was too late.
Ron had already unwrapped the broom, revealing a brand new Nimbus 2000 inside.
"Wow, man!" Ron exclaimed in amazement. "This is a Nimbus 2000. Did you buy it new?"
Next to him, Wood opened his mouth, his face full of envy.
Of course Wood guessed that this was a gift from Professor McGonagall, but he couldn't say anything. After all, Harry was not only a seeker who needed speed and higher requirements for broom performance, but his family conditions should not be very good.
But this didn't stop him from being envious, he was really envious! Harry was only in the first grade, which meant he could play with this Nimbus 2000 for at least seven years!!!
"Remember to come and train with me in the evening," Wood calmed down. After all, he was also a fifth-year student and would not be jealous of a first-year student. "Professor McGonagall has already told me to train you urgently so that we can beat Slytherin in the next game. She told you that after we lost to Slytherin by a large margin last year, she avoided Professor Snape for a long time."
"I will." Harry nodded seriously.
If I had to say what I longed for most during those six years at Hogwarts, it would be Quidditch, which was banned by Headmaster Black.
Blake, you've done so much bad!
