Harry returns from Hogwarts Legacy
Chapter 40: Potions Detention
Chapter 40: Potions Detention
Harry had never read the book and didn't know what was in it.
But he could tell from Hermione's expression that the curse... should...
"Where on earth did you find this book?" Hermione still looked like she was not calming down. She raised her head and rolled her eyes. "Oh my God, I'm so afraid that this book will lead me to Azkaban..."
"What I want to correct you is," Ron raised his hand and said, "Now that you are a witch, God will not bless you. He would rather see you become a human torch--"
Hermione glared at him fiercely.
"Um, what's wrong with the book?" Harry asked cautiously.
"Do you know what the first 'little curse' in this book is?" Hermione growled in a low voice. She looked around and saw that no one was paying attention to this side, and continued: "It's the Imperius Curse! The soul leaves the body! Oh my God, how can this be 'harmless'!"
Harry remembered that this was the book that Sebastian had stolen from the Gaunts' house.
Well... it is in line with the tradition of the Gaunt family. After all, it is a family that forces their own children to use Cruciatus Curse on Muggle children. It is reasonable for them to think that "soul leaving the body" is a "harmless little evil curse".
"This should be the Gaunt family's collection of books." Harry chose to betray his friend without hesitation: "When I took the book, I saw the name on the side. It seemed to be 'Omnius Gaunt'."
"Oh, since it's Gaunt, that's not surprising." Ron interrupted, "You know, the Gaunt family is the descendant of Slytherin, and Slytherin himself is a dark wizard."
"The founder of Hogwarts?" Hermione asked in surprise, "Mr. Slytherin is actually a dark wizard? How is this possible?"
Harry did not refute it. He had seen Slytherin's manuscript in Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets. The content on it did not seem like something that could be written by a good man or a good woman.
Ron just shrugged and said nothing more.
"Don't read this book anymore!" Hermione whispered again, "I don't want to be implicated by this so-called 'little' curse and be sent to Azkaban - or worse, be expelled from school!"
"You really can't tell which is worse, can you?" Ron shrugged.
The result was a roll of the eyes.
After entering November, the weather becomes very cold.
After all, the Scottish Highlands are a high-latitude area. Even with the existence of the North Atlantic Current, the latitude here is similar to that of Moscow.
The mountains surrounding the school were foggy and covered with ice and snow, and the lake was also covered with a thick layer of ice, as cold and hard as quenched steel.
Every morning there is frost on the ground.
From the upstairs window Hagrid could be seen, wrapped up in a long moleskin coat, rabbit-fur gloves, and huge beaver boots, defrosting his broomstick on the Quidditch pitch.
For some reason, Hermione seemed even more nervous than Harry was about his first Quidditch game, and so did Ron.
Ron took oil to maintain Harry's broomstick every day; and Hermione borrowed a book "The Origins of Quidditch" from the library so that Harry could quickly understand the rules of Quidditch.
Because the weather was too cold, Hermione also conjured up a few handfuls of blue flames that could be put into jam jars and carried around - not only Harry and Ron, but also Seamus and Neville.
Ximo had long forgotten his grudge. For the sake of this portable fire, he even had the urge to call his mother.
In Friday's Potions class, Harry accidentally brought the book "The Origins of Quidditch" to class.
Snape still stood beside him, watching every step of his brewing the potion without blinking.
After he boiled a pot of perfect life and death water, Snape uttered a nasal "t". It was not known whether he was happy or not, but Harry thought he was a classic example of the Snake House saying one thing and thinking another.
However, Snape was soon attracted by a book on Harry's desk. He picked up the book quickly, and after seeing the title on the title page, a sinister smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
"Well, well, Pott." Snape looked down at Harry, "Bringing irrelevant books into the Potions class will result in two points being deducted from Gryffindor - and you will be in my office every Wednesday and Saturday night for detention."
Harry opened his mouth. He really didn't expect Snape to deduct points from Gryffindor because of this Quidditch book.
This was the first time Snape had deducted points from him for no reason - he had deserved it the last time.
At the end of get out of class, Ron and Hermione came over together.
"Harry..." Ron whispered, "Did you notice that Snape seemed to be limping, as if he was injured?"
"It seems a little." Harry then remembered Snape's walking posture, which was sometimes 1.8 meters tall and sometimes 1.7 meters tall.
"But compared to this, I think I should get the book back." Harry said again.
"You're really crazy." Hermione and Ron said together.
But Harry didn't think so. He felt that Snape actually liked him very much. As for hating him - how could it be possible? How could his parents' friends hate him? He might just hate Gryffindor.
Thinking this, he walked downstairs, intending to try his luck in the staff lounge.
He knocked on the door, but there was no response. He pushed it open a crack and saw that only Snape and Filch were in the room, and Snape had lifted up his robes.
Wow, Harry sighed in his heart, he finally understood why Snape was limping - the exposed leg was covered in blood, the wound was rolled up, and the bright red muscles could be seen.
"Professor, this..." Filch handed him the bandage.
"Damn it," Snape cursed. "How can you possibly keep an eye on three heads at once?"
Three heads?
Harry frowned. Could it be that Professor Snape's injury was related to some three-headed animal?
Before he could think about it further, he heard a roar.
Snape spotted him.
"Potter!"
Harry looked up and saw Snape putting his robes down and staring at him darkly.
"Excuse me, Professor," Harry asked tentatively, "I was wondering if I could have that book back?"
"Get out!" Snape roared, pointing at the door.
Harry turned and left without saying anything.
Fortunately, it seems that Professor Snape forgot to deduct points from Gryffindor. This is a blessing in disguise, he thought.
But...what exactly hurt Professor Snape?
Harry decided to ask Hagrid. Seeing that he knew a lot about magical creatures, he should know something, right?
