From the Ming Dynasty, we will conquer the world
Chapter 32 Remarks on the launch
Chapter 32 Remarks on the launch
Before I knew it, we have reached the stage of putting the product on the shelves. Haha, although the news came so suddenly, I was a little caught off guard.
However, let it come. There will always be all kinds of unsatisfactory things in life, and they will appear randomly in every time period. There is no need to care too much about it.
As for the thank-you speech, my understanding is just to chat with my readers and talk about daily life.
Although we are just chatting about family matters, there has to be a beginning, so let's start with this unsatisfactory thing.
It's quite funny. I just received a message from the editor this afternoon saying that I was eliminated in the third round and would not be able to advance to the fourth round. Then I started typing. I typed until nine o'clock. I hadn't even eaten a bite when the power went out at home.
As of now, it's 11:20 and there's still no sign of an incoming call. It's still a little hard to hold on.
This can be considered a small part of "unsatisfactory". I feel deeply about these four words.
When I first started college, I hadn’t started serializing novels on the platform yet. I followed a book by a great writer and later joined his reader group.
At that time, the book review section was holding an event, calling on everyone to create secondary works. I wrote a fan fiction and posted it, and then I was fortunate enough to get a personal reply from this author friend.
He sent me a job advertisement for various types of jobs on the construction site, which included everything from excavators to brick movers, as well as the phone numbers of the person in charge, manager, and foreman.
From today's perspective, such a notice is quite sincere. There is no nonsense and it is full of practical information.
Then this old man kindly told me that I should just go find a job here and stop being a writer.
Unfortunately, I was young and energetic at that time and didn’t understand the value of the job. I only had one thought in my mind - draft? You are so fucking insulting.
Looking back now, I think the pay for that advertisement was pretty good, and I may have missed a good opportunity.
Some friends may think after reading this that 80 to 90 percent of this matter was just something he threw out to tease me, but there is still 10 to 20 percent left.
What if?
This is what I have come to realize after experiencing many disappointments over the years. As for “what if”, you always have to fight for it yourself.
But I didn't understand this at the time. I just felt angry and uncomfortable all over my body. There was nothing I could do. I had to endure it. What else could I do?
After all, the status is there. Looking at it now, haha, it's even more prosperous.
At that time, I also doubted whether I was producing garbage. For nearly two years afterwards, I did not produce any complete works. I was basically writing beginnings, various beginnings, ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 words.
After a while, Teacher Yintian read the beginning of my article and gave me a lot of encouragement. I felt that I was ready and decided to publish the book.
After the book was published, my results were dismal and I didn’t even pass a single round. My luck wasn’t very good that year either, and one unsatisfactory thing happened one after another.
Just after I published the book, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, it was thyroid cancer and she was hospitalized in Chongqing. I was about to graduate at that time, and had to go back to Chengdu frequently to see my supervisor and deal with various graduation procedures.
After these problems were solved, the book was almost finished. In the end, only a few hundred thousand words were written, completing the plot of the first volume. It couldn't even be considered a hasty ending.
At that time, I thought, forget it, maybe I just wasn’t cut out for writing novels. It just so happened that I had just graduated, and my mom told me to sign up for a class and take the civil service exam.
Then I took the exam, but something went wrong as soon as I started class. The class was not too far from my home, only about two or three kilometers away, and it was from nine in the morning to nine in the evening every day, which was a bit awkward, so I basically took a taxi.
I hailed a taxi and got a guy from Cao Cao Travel. He had been driving all night and fell asleep at the wheel. He crashed into a telephone pole and sent me to the hospital.
It took almost half a year of recuperation before I could use my right hand normally again. However, after injuring the radial nerve, it was difficult for me to lift heavy objects, and I couldn't type for too long.
Now that I can’t write for the exams during this period, but I still want to write a novel, I decided to start writing. I used my half-disabled right hand to type for several months and came up with a beginning of more than 50,000 words, which I sent to a small group of friends.
Cloudy day! It's him again!
Teacher Yintian read it and told me that he felt the beginning was good, really good. It seemed that he was much more excited than I was, haha.
Now that I think about it, the person I feel most sorry for the way the previous book ended is him, the friend who has been helping me revise the articles and has spared no effort to recommend them to me.
When I have recovered enough, I will publish another book. Once I publish a book, the performance is indeed good, much better than the current one. Although it has not been published in Sanjiang, I have almost received all the recommendations. There are more than 13,000 collections before it is put on the shelves.
Then, something unsatisfactory happened again.
Those who have read the previous book know that it started out as the World of Heroes of Shenzhou. After I finished writing this copy, my good friend Teacher Wencha Mijiu advised me to simply write another similar ancient martial arts worldview.
I righteously rejected him and told him that I wanted to write about an infinite world with diverse painting styles. I also severely criticized Teacher Wen's Infinite Brilliant Picture Scroll, saying that although it was called Infinite, it did not have any infinite flavor.
Thinking about it now, Teacher Wen is indeed far-sighted and prudent, hahaha, I hope he can forgive my ignorance back then.
In order to get this infinite flavor, I chose a Ghost Street dungeon with some martial arts elements, and incorporated a lot of jokes from other worlds. As for the result, haha, it’s not enough to describe it as a drastic drop.
As soon as I entered the copy, my reading was cut short, and I fell into a vicious cycle. The more anxious I was, the worse my writing became, and naturally, the faster my readers left.
When it was finally put on the shelves, it received over 13,000 orders, and the first order received less than 300. The collection-subscription ratio can be said to have set a new record, haha.
Then the editor was also in a difficult situation and advised me to cut it off. I thought, since this copy was about to be finished anyway, I might as well make more preparations for the next copy and see if I can increase it again.
At that time, Teacher Wen told me that if I could get an average subscription of 500, there might be recommendations. I thought, then I should work hard towards 500.
Just like that, I persisted for more than two months, and the average subscription reached 600. Then the editor told me, haha, buddy, that’s not true, the performance of your book is just like this, and there will be no recommendation in the future.
Then I thought, since it's an infinite flow anyway, at least I can finish this copy and have a beginning and an end. Then, something unsatisfactory happened again. Friends who have read my previous book know that my father acted as a guarantor for his biological sister, my eldest aunt, and used the family house as collateral. Then my name was also on the property certificate, and he asked me to sign it.
At that time, my mother suggested that if we really wanted to help, we could sell the house and give them the money, but we just didn’t want them to sign. I didn’t understand at the time and didn’t express any opinion.
Then when my relatives heard this proposal, they immediately got excited and angrily accused my mother of not wanting to provide a guarantee. Then they started to speak in a sarcastic way, using the most classic family values from the old times. Although my mother wasn't so angry that she was stunned, she was also very upset and didn't say anything.
Then I signed, and then the catastrophe happened.
Haha.
I knew nothing, and suddenly I became the person being executed. The bank card bound to the book was also frozen, and I couldn’t use Alipay and WeChat.
Therefore, I would like to warn all my readers and friends not to provide any guarantee for others, especially personal guarantee. Companies can go bankrupt, but individuals cannot.
This problem still bothers me. I have only graduated for one year, but I have millions of dollars in debt, which can be considered a successful career.
What can I do at this time? I wrote a book, and then we have the book you see now.
So I said, although this book did not make it to the fourth round as I had hoped and the results were terrible, but now it seems that it is not that bad, not a big problem.
Here I would like to share a little secret with all my readers. When you feel troubled and uneasy about something, you can find a bigger and more difficult to solve pain to cover it all.
I had a lot of academic pressure in junior high school and was extremely anxious every day because I was in a boarding school. If I didn’t finish my homework during evening self-study, I would be scolded the next day. It was very uncomfortable.
At that time, several guys in our dormitory couldn't finish their homework, and they had to make up for it after evening self-study. However, the lights in the dormitory were turned off at 10 o'clock, and the dormitory manager required everyone to go to bed, so we had to find a solution.
Fortunately, a subway station was being built outside our school at the time, and the headlights of the construction site were facing the toilet in our dormitory.
Then, a few nights we would wait until the dorm manager fell asleep, run to the bathroom, open the window, let the spotlights from the construction site shine in, and use the light to do our homework.
Thinking about it now, it’s hard to imagine that four people could be crammed into a space of less than three square meters. The guys at the back even invented a method of holding a small flashlight in their mouths and pressing the papers against the wall.
However, the flashlight was too bright, so people used a lot of toilet paper to wrap the bulb to make it emit only a little light. But experienced friends would notice another problem.
——It will be very, very hot, the bulb may explode at any time, and the flashlight is held in the mouth, so it is very dangerous.
Fortunately, nothing happened at that time, but this experience left a deep psychological trauma on me. Until one day much later, I suddenly realized it.
Screw this homework. If I’m going to die tomorrow, why should I do it?
Then I imagined myself losing consciousness, falling into darkness, and never waking up from my sleep.
My friends, the world is vast with just one thought.
This method is not a panacea. Many problems occurred during the subsequent practice, but it did help me get rid of a lot of troubles.
I would like to recommend this method to everyone here.
I have said so much just to tell you that although the situation in this book seems not optimistic and my situation is even less optimistic, it is not a big deal.
Look at the long term, look at the long term. If everything seems dark, you might as well think about what to do if you die suddenly tomorrow, haha.
Just now I saw a friend leave a message asking me to go to the WeChat public account and he would definitely support me. I want to thank this book friend. It’s more than just gratitude, I’m really touched.
There are also many old friends who have been reading this book since the last one. I am very familiar with those IDs who often vote for monthly tickets and recommendation tickets. Thank you very much.
I also know the situation of the previous book. After reading it, everyone continued to support me. I can only describe this feeling as great.
Of course, there are also many new friends who have just read this book. As of the data I can see so far, the number of collections on August 20th was only over 4,000, but the number of follow-up readings has reached more than 1,000. This is inseparable from everyone's great help.
Then let’s talk about the sequel of this book. I originally designed this copy to be about 250,000 words. I learned from the lessons of the previous book and wanted to extend the plot as much as possible until it was put on the shelves, so as not to lose too many readers at the beginning.
I just didn’t expect that I would be charged for just 150,000 words. This is slightly different from my expectations, but it’s not a big problem. I can just keep writing.
As you can see from the introduction, the next copy is a comprehensive martial arts world with Tianlong and the Four Famous Detectives as the main body. The size is also developed to more than 200,000 as much as possible. The style is also as close to the original as possible, and it is more fan-oriented. Friends who like this can look forward to it.
Now let's talk about the extra chapters after the book is online. On the first day, there will still be a minimum of 8,000 words updated, and we'll try to get it to 10,000 words. We won't bother with dividing the book into chapters, and just let the word count speak for itself.
If the first 24-hour orders exceed one thousand, then I will add another four thousand words. If there is no announcement of additional updates, then it means it is less than one thousand. Please don't bring it up and hurt my feelings. Just be tacit.
Sometimes I often watch videos on Bilibili and see those uploaders say that if a video gets a certain number of likes, they will release another one within a few days.
Then the deadline came, and I didn’t reach that standard in terms of likes. Many viewers left messages in the comment section asking me about it, and I felt a little overwhelmed. I also hoped that this kind of thing would not happen to me, haha.
As for the extra chapters, if the goal is really achieved but not written on the same day, I will settle it before September.
After all, as everyone knows, my right hand is like this. If I want to update more frequently, I can only rely on time to accumulate it. If I really keep writing, problems will arise.
That’s enough of the small talk. As an author, your works should ultimately speak for themselves.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their support. I hope we can complete this journey together. In this world, there must be some things that have a beginning and an end.
Please come in.
