Chapter 603 You Do the Butt Dance, and I'll Help You
Chapter 603 You Do the Butt Dance, and I'll Help You (1st Update)
After saying goodbye to the three children, Shiraishi E and Conan walked side by side on their way back to the Kudo residence.
The streetlights cast long shadows of the two men. Conan stood with his hands in his pockets and his brow furrowed, clearly still troubled by what had happened that night.
"Still thinking about Tsugawa?" Shiraishi E glanced at him.
"..." Conan didn't answer, but his pace noticeably slowed down.
Shiraishi E chuckled lightly: "Don't worry, the forensic report will show that he died of cardiac arrest due to an overdose of anesthetic, which is an accidental death. The police won't trace it back to you."
"That's not what I'm worried about," Conan finally spoke, his voice a little muffled. "I just..."
"I just never thought I would actually kill someone?" Shiraishi E finished the sentence for him.
Conan was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, "I thought I could control the situation... It seems I overestimated myself."
Ei Shiraishi shrugged: "That's why I gave you more effective weapons—because reality never goes according to your script."
Conan rolled his eyes, feeling that he shouldn't have said those things to the other person.
Expecting the other person to comfort you is wishful thinking!
The lights in the Kudo residence were still on.
When the door opened, Yusaku was sitting on the sofa in the living room, looking through documents. Hearing the noise, he looked up and asked, "You're back?"
"Dad!" Conan went straight to the point as soon as he walked in: "You be the judge, Shiraishi is too dangerous!"
He then told the other person what had just happened in the library.
Yusaku raised an eyebrow after hearing this.
His gaze shifted to Shiraishi E, who was slowly following behind.
The other person walked skillfully to the tea cabinet, taking out tea leaves and teaware as if they were in their own home.
"Shiraishi-kun, don't you want to say anything?" Yusaku asked softly, without a trace of reproach in his words.
Shiraishi E poured hot water into the teapot without looking up: "What did you say? I think Conan should thank me."
"Thank you?!" Conan almost jumped up. "You gave Ayumi and the others a cell phone-shaped tranquilizer gun! Do you know how dangerous those things are? I only used ten shots today—"
“He only took down one drug dealer and saved three children.” Shiraishi interrupted him, picking up her teacup and blowing on it as she spoke. “Look at your son, Mr. Yusaku. Every day he’s either looking for murderers or tracking down drug dealers. What good is that little watch of his that can only fire a few tranquilizer darts?”
“Conan.” Yusaku nodded in agreement and said, “I think Shiraishi-kun is right.”
"Dad?!" Conan's eyes widened. "How could you... You weren't like this before! You clearly said that life is precious and shouldn't be taken away at will!"
Upon hearing this, Shiraishi E realized that Conan's concept of the sanctity of life was learned from Yusaku.
Thinking about it carefully, it makes sense. Under normal circumstances, the first people a child learns from are their parents.
The kind of people your parents are will likely influence the kind of people your children become.
“That was before.” Yusaku’s voice was calm. “When I was a mystery novelist, I thought I knew criminals very well. But after really delving into this field, I realized that I was too optimistic.”
He stood up, took a document from the bookshelf, and handed it to Conan.
“According to data from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan’s annual death toll is about 156 million, or 4270 per day. This does not include missing persons.” Yusaku pointed to a page: “And the human experiments that the organization conducted in secret were completely unregistered.”
"The actual number of missing persons far exceeds the official statistics."
Conan flipped through the documents, his expression growing increasingly serious.
The photos in the document are shocking—victims used by the organization for experiments, missing person notices for missing children, and even several internal police reports that were deliberately covered up.
“I used to think that criminals would at least weigh the pros and cons,” Yusaku continued. “But the reality is that they might kill someone just because they don’t like dinner or because they suddenly want to see blood while they’re taking a walk… without any reason, without logic, and without any way to deduce.”
“These people didn’t even have a chance to call the police,” Yusaku’s voice was low. “Their disappearance won’t cause any ripples, it’ll be as if they never existed.” Conan’s hands trembled slightly.
He thought of the scene tonight when Mitsuhiko and Genta were almost killed by Director Tsugawa, and recalled their terrified expressions...
“The best solution is actually for you to stop taking them on dangerous trips,” Yusaku sighed. “But I know you can’t do that.”
Conan opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing.
“So,” Yusaku patted his son on the shoulder, “since danger cannot be avoided, let’s be fully prepared. Keep them under control and protect them.”
"Okay... I understand." Conan was convinced and didn't bring it up again.
He changed his mind and turned to ask Shiraishi E, "Could you adjust the single-shot dosage of the anesthetic injections? They're too potent!"
"What's the use of a weak drug?" Shiraishi E retorted. "It has to be strong to stop the criminal in time!"
"You can just switch to single-fire mode, can't you?"
"That makes sense!" Conan nodded, then took out his tranquilizer phone, intending to start studying it.
Just then, his phone rang.
Conan realized it was Shinichi Kudo's phone, so he picked up the voice changer and said, "Hello? Who is this?"
A gentle female voice came from the other end of the phone: "Shinichi, long time no see! It's me, Mami... It's my birthday party this weekend, can you come?"
Conan was puzzled. The two weren't very familiar with each other, so why was she suddenly inviting him to her birthday party?
Without even thinking, he refused: "Haha... Well, I have a tricky case coming up recently, so I might not be able to spare the time!"
"Please, you absolutely have to come!" Uchida Asami's voice was tinged with disappointment. "I promised the club members I would learn it this time!"
Conan chuckled awkwardly and scratched his head: "I'm really sorry, it's just that..."
"Please, Shinichi~" Uchida Asami's tone suddenly turned coquettish, "Just show your face, otherwise I'll lose face in front of my friends..."
Forced into a corner, Conan glanced at Shiraishi E, who was leisurely drinking tea to the side, and suddenly had a brilliant idea: "Alright, alright! I'll definitely be there on time!"
After hanging up the phone, Conan rushed to Shiraishi E.
"Shiraishi! Are you free this weekend?" Conan asked, his hands clasped together, his eyes sincere.
Shiraishi E slowly put down her teacup, glanced at him, and said, "I'm busy. I made plans with Ran and Sonoko to look at houses in Beika."
"Xiao Lan won a lot of money on the gambling ship and was worried about where to spend it, so she invested it in high-end gambling."
Conan's face fell: "Just one day! No, half a day is fine too!"
He braced himself on the coffee table. "Please, impersonate me and go to a birthday party!"
"Impersonating Shinichi Kudo?" Shiraishi E raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure that upperclassman won't notice?"
"Mami-senpai is from the Faculty of Letters at Tokyo University, so I'm not that close to her," Conan quickly explained. "Besides, she's gentle and won't deliberately make things difficult for anyone. You just need to show up, eat a piece of cake, and you're good to go!"
Shiraishi E said with a half-smile, "Oh, okay... but you have to take off your pants now and do a butt dance for me."
"You!!" Conan snapped in anger.
He glanced at Yusaku, and finally, suppressing his embarrassment, said, "Okay! I'll jump!"
With that, Conan took a deep breath, pulled down his pants, exposed his buttocks, and started wiggling them back and forth.
Shiraishi recorded the scene on her phone and said with satisfaction, "Okay, I agree!"
