Chapter 604 You give someone a book for their birthday? (2 updates)
Saturday morning.

Kudo's residence.

Yuzaku is using a special silicone material to make the final adjustments to Shiraishi E's disguise.

“Lower your eyebrows a little more… Yes, that’s it.” Yusaku took two steps back and nodded in satisfaction: “Now even Yukiko won’t recognize you!”

Looking at her reflection in the mirror, Shiraishi E gazed at her own face, now bearing the features of Shinichi Kudo. She looked around and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Your technique is truly excellent, Mr. Kudo."

Conan, watching from the side, was dumbfounded: "Dad, when did you learn how to disguise yourself?"

Yusaku pushed up his glasses and said, "Didn't I tell you last time? My brother taught me!"

"Your brother? My uncle?" Conan was stunned for a moment, then remembered that it was back on the gambling ship.

He asked curiously, "Dad, what does Uncle do? Why does he know how to disguise himself?"

"He's a magician. Is it strange that a magician can use disguise?" Yusaku asked.

"That's really weird, okay?" Conan couldn't help but mutter.

He wanted to ask more about his uncle's situation.

But Shiraishi interrupted him, "Alright, let's go! Don't be late!"

"Hmm!" Conan checked the time and realized it was getting late, so he decided to ask again when he got back.

--------

The black Mercedes sports car drove out of downtown Tokyo and sped towards a villa area in the suburbs.

Conan sat in the passenger seat, carefully holding a beautifully packaged mystery novel.

Shiraishi E, who was driving, glanced at it and said speechlessly, "You give this to girls?"

"The Mystery of the Midnight Bell, Collector's Edition!" Conan proudly introduced. "The mystery element is toned down; the focus is on portraying the motives behind the crime, making it especially moving!! I'm sure Mami-senpai will love it—"

"Snapped!"

Shiraishi E snatched the book and threw it out the window.

"Hey!" Conan almost jumped up from his seat, his eyes wide with surprise. "That's a collector's edition I bought when I was in elementary school!"

"So you're giving away unwanted trash?" Shiraishi E shook her head repeatedly, saying, "Giving away secondhand books as birthday presents? You're not afraid of losing face, but I am!"

Conan protested, "This book has special meaning for me!!"

"That's meaningful to you, not to her," Shiraishi E said irritably. "If you're going to give a gift, then give something of value!"

Conan countered, "Then you search for what counts as valuable stuff!"

Shiraishi E pulled a velvet jewelry box from her pocket: "Let's see what a gift really is."

The box was opened, and a Fuesa bracelet inlaid with diamonds shone brightly in the sunlight.

Conan gasped, "W-how much does this cost?"

"Thirteen million yen." Shiraishi E smiled slightly and said, "I guarantee you'll be the coolest person in the room!"

Conan's expression changed drastically: "No! Such an expensive gift will cause Mami-senpai to misunderstand!"

"A misunderstanding?" Shiraishi E grinned mischievously. "Isn't that even better? I can just take her down right here and now, and all my efforts in coming all this way won't have been in vain!"

"No!" Conan exclaimed in alarm. Considering the other person's complicated private life, he quickly said, "You can't do this!"

"Don't you dare tarnish my reputation!!"

"I, Shinichi Kudo, am not that kind of person!"

Shiraishi E laughed and said, "Don't worry, just thinking about doing these things with your face on my body gives me goosebumps."

Seeing this, Conan breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Giving such an expensive gift is inappropriate..."

"Don't worry about whether it's suitable or not, you don't have to pay anything," Shiraishi E said confidently. "I'll clean up the mess!"

"Hopefully," Conan decided, determined to intervene decisively should the other party make any offensive move! ——————————

At the gate of the suburban villa, Shiraishi E, disguised as Shinichi Kudo, gently rang the doorbell. A few seconds later, the door opened, and Uchida Asami stood in the doorway, her eyes lighting up.

"Shinichi! You really came!" A surprised smile bloomed on her face, her voice filled with undisguised joy.

Shiraishi E opened her arms wide, revealing Shinichi Kudo's signature confident smile: "Senpai has asked me to come so many times, how could I not?"

Uchida Asami blushed slightly and threw herself into his arms without hesitation, giving him a warm hug.

Her long hair exuded a faint scent of gardenias, and the hug lasted a second or two longer than a formal greeting.

Conan stood to the side, his lips twitching slightly—Shiraishi E's acting was just too natural!

“Ah, this little friend is…” Asami Uchida let go of his hand and looked down at Conan.

“Edogawa Conan.” Shiraishi E casually ruffled Conan’s hair. “He’s a relative’s kid, I’ll look after him for the time being.”

"Welcome, welcome!" Uchida Asami gently knelt down, looking Conan in the eye. "Shinichi's relative must be very smart, right?"

Conan chuckled dryly, "It's...it's alright..."

Five or six people had already gathered in the living room, and they all stood up when they saw them come in.

"It really is Shinichi Kudo!" a bespectacled boy exclaimed.

"Asami really brought in Japan's number one high school detective!" the girl with the ponytail exclaimed, covering her mouth with a laugh.

Asami Uchida introduced everyone with a smile: "This is Shinichi Kudo, my junior, and an honorary member of our Toto University Mystery Club—although he has never participated in any activities."

She then turned to Shiraishi E: "These are the members of the mystery club—Sawai Manabu, Morimoto Yoshinobu, Hayasaka Tomoko, Miyazaki Chinatsu, and Noguchi Shibahisa."

Shiraishi E gave a brief greeting.

“Kudo-kun, we all thought you had already…” Sawai Manabu pushed up his glasses, “There were rumors that you were assassinated by a criminal organization.”

Shiraishi E shrugged: "Don't believe rumors, don't spread rumors."

Everyone sat around the sofa in the living room, and Asami Uchida brought out black tea and snacks.

"Kudo-kun, could you tell me about the cases you've solved?" Hayasaka Tomoko's eyes lit up. "Our mystery club loves hearing about real cases!"

The others chimed in. Conan quietly sipped his tea—he wanted to see how Shiraishi E would weave her story.

“Alright.” Shiraishi E adjusted her posture, revealing the focused expression that Shinichi Kudo had when solving a case. “Let’s talk about the ‘Moonlight Sonata Locked Room Murder Case’ that happened before.”

As he narrated...
Everyone listened intently, and Tomoko Hayasaka even took out her notebook to take notes.

"That was brilliant!" Yoshiyuki Morimoto slapped his thigh. "This kind of technique is rarely seen even in mystery novels!"

Miyazaki Chinatsu tilted her head: "But Kudo-kun, why haven't we seen any news reports about this case?"

Bai Shihui remained unfazed: "It involves official corruption, so it was definitely suppressed."

Conan secretly admired him—this guy's ability to make up stories was simply first-rate; the case was clearly not like that at all.

“Speaking of which,” Sawai Manabu suddenly said, “Kudo-kun and Asami are very close.”

His tone was somewhat subtle, and his gaze shifted between Asami and Shiraishi E.

Asami Uchida explained with a smile, "Shinichi was a member of the soccer club in junior high school, and I was his manager at the time, so we're very familiar with each other."

"Is that all?" Noguchi Shibahisa spoke for the first time, his voice low. "I heard that Asami once..."

"Noguchi!" Uchida Asami suddenly raised her voice to interrupt him, her cheeks flushed. "It's getting late, let's get something to eat! I'll go to the kitchen and get it!"

She hurriedly got up and left the living room, leaving the atmosphere somewhat awkward.

Shiraishi E raised an eyebrow and looked at Conan with a playful expression.

Conan thought the other person was asking him what was going on, so he immediately shrugged and said "I don't know"—he really didn't know why Mami-senpai had interrupted him.
