Chapter 510 Savior
Chapter 510 Savior
Amidst the ruins of the Stark Industries building, Stephen Fong pulled Iron Man out from under a pile of boulders.
Iron Man's visor was riddled with cracks, and his gold and red suit was stained with dust and blood. He ripped off his helmet and stared wide-eyed behind him.
The once bustling Manhattan neighborhoods are now reduced to ashes, skyscrapers look like skeletons gnawed by a giant beast, and thick smoke obscures half the sky.
"Is this still Manhattan?" Tony's voice trembled slightly.
Stephen Fang dusted off the pebbles on his clothes. "Genuine."
Iron Man slammed his fist into the broken wall beside him, the metal joints of his nanotech suit screeching as he cried out, "Damn it! Who did this?! The destructive power of that missile... Could it be that those lunatics in Congress finally pressed the nuclear button?!"
“Nuclear bombs won’t just hit Manhattan,” Stephen Fang said, narrowing his eyes. “We can just go to Hydra’s headquarters and ask them.”
He paused, then added meaningfully.
I mean
"S.H.I.E.L.D."
When Stephen Fong and Iron Man stepped into the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, the chaos before them resembled an apocalyptic battlefield.
In the corridor, agents ran frantically carrying documents, glaring red alerts scrolling across holographic screens, and Nick Fury's furious roar exploded from the command center: "Get the satellite footage! I need to know which lunatic set Manhattan on fire like fireworks!"
"Wow, this welcome ceremony is quite unique." Stephen Fang kicked away the scattered coffee cup shards on the floor, picked up a donut from the table and took a bite. "This cloyingly sweet taste, only white people can eat this. Sugar replenished, time to get back to work."
Iron Man quickly scanned his surroundings, and Jarvis's data stream refreshed on his retina: "73% of the channels in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s internal communications have been discussing insurance claims."
"Is he writing an apology letter to those people on Wall Street? I suggest starting with 'Dear capitalists, your money has vanished as quickly as your conscience.'"
At that moment, an agent approached. "Mr. Stephen, the director says..."
"No need to invite us, we're here." Tony strode open the door to the command room and immediately saw the holographic map across the room.
On the holographic map, half of Manhattan was marked in blood red, and the economic loss figures jumped wildly like a slot machine.
Nick Fury, his one eye blazing with fire, exclaimed, "Who did this?!"
“Terrorists who care about money wouldn’t have the ability to cause this kind of commotion,” Tony said.
Nick Fury's single eye scanned back and forth between the two men, finally settling on Stephen Fang, his tone somber: "Frankly, if you two hadn't come to my door, I would have strongly suspected that you were the ones who orchestrated this."
Upon hearing this, Stephen Fong turned to Iron Man, raised an eyebrow, and lowered his voice: "I've long suspected that you have 'Snake Agents' around you, and now I see that I was right."
Nick Fury clearly didn't miss the remark. He snorted and retorted, "The station is clean now. There isn't a single 'Sniper' or 'Hydra' member left!" He corrected his slip of the tongue through gritted teeth, clearly extremely displeased with Stephen Fang's sarcasm.
Stephen Fang shrugged, looking nonchalant: "Whatever you say."
Tony Stark rolled his eyes and interjected, "Alright, now's not the time to blame each other. Jarvis just analyzed the energy signature of the explosion's aftermath; this thing isn't a conventional weapon at all."
He paused, seemingly choosing his words carefully, "It's not something that should exist in this era, unless..."
He looked at Stephen Fang, "Unless the owner of the design also gave a copy of the design to someone else."
Nick Fury frowned even more: "What blueprints? You guys are really researching weapons, aren't you?"
Stephen Fang scoffed, "Do you think it's more likely that we two superheroes messed up our superweapon research and blew up Manhattan, or that aliens are attacking Earth?" Just then, the command center door was flung open, and an agent rushed in, holding an urgent report: "Director, satellites have detected unusual energy fluctuations, originating from the ruins of .X. Academy!"
The three of them were stunned at the same time.
“X-Men Origins?” Tony frowned. “Did something happen to Charles?”
"Moreover, the energy readings are highly consistent with the explosion residue we detected."
Stephen Fang narrowed his eyes, deep in thought: "So, it was done by mutants?"
Nick Fury immediately grabbed the communicator: "Contact the X-Men, I need to know what they're up to!"
Meanwhile, at X Academy.
On the remaining half of Wolverine Logan's face, the mangled muscle fibers twitched with every breath.
His left eye had already turned into a bloody mist in the explosion, but his right eye was still staring intently ahead.
Professor X's body lay silently in the ruins, the metal frame of his wheelchair twisted into a grotesque arc, like a silent indictment of this absurd ending.
A hissing sound escaped Charles's broken throat as Logan used his right hand, with exposed bone fragments, to pry open the concrete block pressing down on his spine.
His healing factor was wrestling with the chaotic magic that had invaded his body, his intestines trailing behind him, leaving sticky bloodstains, and every step caused his adamantium skeleton to groan under the strain.
Ten meters away, the Grey Knight's feathered crown was dazzling.
Just as Dingdang Wolf's fingers finally touched Professor X's cold cuff, the gray horse suddenly stood up and stomped down!
"Buzz!"
Seeing Professor X's corpse trampled to pieces, Wolverine's mind went completely blank!
"Ah ah ah ah ah!"
"Pathetic defective product." The Gray Knight's voice was like sandpaper rubbing metal. It looked down at its parallel universe self, claw-like weapons slowly extending from between its fingers. "Even death is so... drawn out."
"You fucking bastard!" Wolverine suddenly lunged forward, his remaining right claw aimed straight for the opponent's throat, but at the moment of contact, the Grey Knight grabbed his wrist, the pus runes suddenly lit up, and the muscles of his entire arm collapsed like melted wax!
The Grey Knight hurled the rotting Logan against the wall, smashing the relief bearing the "X" symbol.
"You could have been the blade of Apocalypse." It paced closer, "but you chose... weakness."
Logan, who was on the verge of death, suddenly smiled.
He spat out half a broken tooth, using his knee to push himself up again: "At least... I didn't become..." His bloodied hand pointed to the Grey Knight's festering abdomen, "...a walking pile of horse manure."
A gray mist-like energy erupted from the feathered crown! The gray knight's claws tripled in size, slashing down with a piercing shriek that tore through space!
"clang!"
Just as the claw blade was about to strike half of Wolverine's face, a figure appeared and caught the claw blade with just two fingers!
Wolverine took a deep breath: "Stephen! Fang!? Ah! S! It's S!"
Stephen Fang scoffed, "Then you're the M."
