Chapter 32 Going to New York

"Perfect, absolutely perfect!" Walking out of the door of the luxurious hotel where the nightclub was located, Joel was still thinking about Taylor's improvisation just now.

Then he turned around and looked at the country music beauty who was half a head taller than him: "You are more suitable to be on the stage just now than us."

"Forget it..." Taylor quickly shook her head. Not to mention the issue of appearance fees, her public relations manager and agent would never allow her to perform on stage in the nightclub.

Joel left first, and Ryan, Abigail and Taylor said goodbye at the door.

"I have to have a creative meeting with Liz Ross tomorrow to discuss the lyrics of this new song." Taylor said excitedly.

This is her typical way of creation. She gets inspiration from something, someone, or even a picture or a sentence, and then quickly thinks of the core theme, part of the lyrics, and the chorus melody of a song. This is the soul of a song. The rest is to extend and fill in these inspirations, and then repeatedly modify and improve them until the complete lyrics and music are finally formed, and then she completes the production with Nathan Chapman.

The production of a song may take a long time, but acquiring its "soul" is often completed in a short time.

"What's the name of this song?" Abigail asked, holding Ryan's arm.

"You Belong With Me" Taylor looked at Ryan while speaking.

·
"The songs she wrote are like stories. She also wrote a 300-page novel called "A Girl Named Girl"..." Abigail explained in the car.

I don't know if this experience has honed her narrative ability. In any case, Taylor follows a "narrative flow" when writing lyrics, which is quite different from the "emotional flow" of most lyrics.

In other words, "Diary of a Girl" is the most appropriate way to describe her album.

Now Ryan finally knew what "that" was. It turned out to be inspiration.

Good news: new songs are coming.

Bad news: the new song belongs to someone else.

The lyrics popped up in Ryan's mind, and it seemed like a girl had a crush on a boy who had a girlfriend...

The contrast between the comfortable smile on her face at the last moment of separation and Ryan's recent creative troubles is obvious.

To put it bluntly, Ryan cannot be compared with Taylor without the help of "déjà vu".

"My parents are not home tonight, only my brother is here, Ryan..." Abigail mentioned suddenly.

Ryan simply refused: "I have to go back to making music."

Abigail nodded but said nothing.

·
After returning home, Terry still didn't sleep tonight, but unlike the last "interrogation", this time she had a big smile on her face, even a little bit of flattering.

"You haven't eaten yet? I've prepared everything for you, come quickly." She pushed Ryan down on the dining table and took out the food that was kept warm in the oven.

Ryan looked at the dark food in front of him and said with a wry smile, "I'm not hungry."

"Then try it." Terry said with a smile.

"Well done. Don't do it next time." Ryan swallowed and it was so salty that it hurt his throat.

"Hehe, cooking is not difficult." Terry laughed.

"Yes Yes Yes."

"What would you like to eat tomorrow?"

"I... by the way, the wind is really strong tonight."

"Don't change the subject."

"I haven't offended you, have I?"

"Thank you, thank you." Trey smiled and said the reason: "Today, the staff from Big Machine called me again. They withdrew their request to change the director. I will still direct Taylor's next MV. How did you do it?"

"Technically, I gave Taylor a song." Ryan said. He hadn't contacted Taylor since he left Taylor's house last time, until tonight.

Even Trey has returned to the position of director. Should the social media operator that Taylor introduced to me also contact me?
From this perspective, neither party owes the other anything.

"I see. Is your name in the lyrics? Or is it a code?" Tray suddenly asked. For example, in the song "Should've Said No", although no one's name is mentioned in the lyrics, the booklet in the album shows that the lyrics of this song have capital letters S, A, and M, which together mean Sam. So far, most of Taylor's songs have a "code", which may be a word or a person's name, which is an interactive game between her and her fans.

"Then I don't know." Ryan shook his head.

"You have to make this clear with her. This is your chance." Terry woke the dreamer up with a word.

"Besides that, is there any physical evidence that can link you two? Like intimate photos? Or even short videos!" Terry raised her eyebrows.

"Don't be ridiculous." Ryan laughed.

"This is no joke, kid. This is what celebrities do. They provide gossip and melons for the masses who have nothing to do and the reward is attention. A celebrity without topics to discuss is tantamount to a slow death."

"Taylor did a very good job in this regard. Do you know what her famous song is called? It's called 'Tim McGraw'. Yes, it's the famous country music singer. Her father is a famous baseball player, and her wife is Faith Hill (another star, the singer of the theme song of the movie 'Pearl Harbor'). She didn't know Tim McGraw at all at the time, and she said that her ex-boyfriend liked Tim McGraw's songs. I don't need to explain the real reason, right?" Terry hinted.

Ryan thought of the song Taylor had written for him. He only needed to "accidentally" leak the song, and the next day, news about the two of them might be all over the screen...

Suddenly, Ryan thought of his brother's indignant expression and some of the rumors he had heard about Taylor during this period, saying that she was in love just to capture inspiration, that she had an affair with Scott, and that her songs were written by others.

"So, is there one?" Terry continued to ask.

"No." Ryan shook his head.

From this perspective, Tremor does lack "topic points" and can only rely on word of mouth, which takes some time.

After dinner, Ryan sat in front of the computer as usual and began to try to make a new song.

After half an hour, Ryan gave up. Instead of shutting down his computer as usual, he played the song "Dog Day Afternoon" that Taylor had given him.

After thinking about it for a long time, Ryan did some operations on this song...

·
"5000? Did I hear it right?!" The next day, Ryan on campus received a call from the social media operator introduced by Taylor, who was actually an employee of Big Machine Records.

"To be precise, the first month is $5000, including the front-end design of a whole page of the website, and decoration that matches your music style, similar to Taylor's personal page. After that, it's $2500 per month, including typesetting, personal dynamic publishing, and news summary. If you want to write a blog, you need to charge separately by the word count. It only includes the operating price of Myspace. If it involves other websites, such as YouTube, you have to pay extra. Facebook Blue Label application also requires additional fees."

"What if I'm not satisfied with your design?"

"You can make suggestions and we will make revisions until you are satisfied."

"What if I'm still not satisfied?"

"We will revise it until you are satisfied."

"What if I don't need design, but just need your daily operations?"

“That’s possible.”

Ryan said he needed to think about it and hung up the phone. This was somewhat beyond his expectations and the effect was obvious, but it was a bit expensive.

Ryan finally made the call. The revenue from paid music channels was barely even warm before most of it was lost.

I have to find a way to make more money. I can't rely on this nightclub in Nashville, Ryan thought.

He thought of what Dead Mouse had promised him before and immediately called Dead Mouse.

"Of course, I still keep my word. Don't forget that I'm still releasing single albums. It won't hurt me if more people notice you."

From a business logic perspective, Dead Rat would definitely leave such exposure opportunities to people who are more in line with his own interests. But in reality, Dead Rat right now cannot be compared with those famous European DJs. His "reputation" may not be enough to be monetized, so he will not make things difficult for Ryan on this point.

"The first stop of the North American performance will be at a well-known nightclub in New York. We will meet in New York this weekend." Dead Rat continued.

Ryan then contacts Joel.

"Sorry Ryan, I asked the other party to give us another chance, but they may not be easy to talk to." Joel said as soon as he came up.

"But we don't have to worry about the next club. I'll look for it." Joel said there is no need to lose heart.

"I've found it. This time, let's go to New York..."
