Chapter 339 The Spirit Race's "Sincerity"
Chapter 339 The Spirit Race's "Sincerity"
Beneath the Golden Throne lies the net-path city of Karata.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the Great Sage Land pressed the red button on the control panel.
"Om-"
A loud noise emanated from the bulky device, and pale blue plasma flowed in circles inside the transistor, quickly illuminating the experimental area filled with pipes.
As the load index increases, the vibration amplitude of the equipment becomes larger and larger.
The motorists around him were breathing heavily with tension, and hissing low noises emanated from their artificial sound-producing devices.
"Quickly, apply holy oil to the transmission structure of component number three!"
At Rand's command, the Servo Skull flew forward with a spray gun and sprayed lubricant onto the creaking parts.
"And there, the powder injector for component number five is clogged. Go and clear it quickly."
Another servo skull, carrying a laser emitter, is sent to melt the powder blocking the injector.
"Tell me, what are the parameter levels for each module?"
"Sir, the T-3 module is functioning normally."
"T-17 module is normal."
"... "
"BTEE-13 module is normal."
Rand asked through the Mechanicus's internal communications channel.
He and his colleagues communicated using electronic signals, so they completed the calibration of hundreds or thousands of modules in just a few seconds.
After confirming that the device had no intolerable defects, Rand decisively gave the order:
"The servo skull is removed from the experimental site, the shield is raised, PCSII powder is injected, and the device is set to strategy 1 for fast operation."
The servo skull completes its work, carrying its tools away from the spire-like device.
"Om——"
A shield force field, capable of resisting electromagnetic waves, explosions, and flames, rose from the ground, separating the area from the outside.
Two mechanical sages chanted "Blessing, Om Messiah!" and simultaneously pulled down the lever.
"Bang!"
The surging plasma flow propelled the powder into the device, causing the underground pipeline hub to emit a deafening roar.
"The equipment is operating at full capacity!"
"Set mode to strategy 1, currently proceeding to stage B1!"
On the pixel display, the progress bar next to B1 steadily increases.
Once the progress bar is full, B1 becomes B2, then the progress bar resets to zero, and charging begins again.
After waiting for several seconds, the progress bar for B2 was still at 0%.
The expressions on everyone's faces changed drastically!
"Damn it, I'm stuck in B2!"
"It's over, it's over, it's over!"
"B1 is the power supply circuit self-test, and B2 is the logic circuit self-test. I'd rather have B1 blocked than B2 blocked!!!"
The crowd was abuzz with discussion and wailing, with some even closing their eyes and praying to Om Messiah in hopes of a miracle.
Rand shouted:
"Quiet! Quickly check which module is causing the error!"
"Sir, the module reporting the error is the 'Particle Cyclone Accelerator Module'! The Thinker reports that the module's voltage exceeds the rated standard by 1.5 times, and six pipelines have been burned out due to the high current!"
The mechanical sage in charge of this module broke out in a cold sweat and shouted, trembling:
"Impossible! How could this be! I swear in the name of Om Messiah, every step I took complied with the requirements of the 'Source Power Unblocking Manual,' I...I...I..."
"Quiet!" Rand said coldly.
"Shut down the device first and inspect the particle cyclotron acceleration module."
"Yes, my lord."
Two mechanical sages who controlled the source power pipelines simultaneously lifted the lever.
"Bang!"
The underground pipeline hub was shut down, but the device was still running, the light was getting brighter and brighter, and the shaking was getting more and more intense.
The mechanical sage in charge of checking the parameters shouted:
"Not good! The soul of the Holy Pipeline is enraged by the lack of source energy! It is forcibly absorbing source energy!"
Even Rand was no longer calm!
The machine spirit's rage signifies a loss of control!
A massive explosion is inevitable!
"Strengthen the shield!"
"Sizzle sizzle sizzle—Bang!"
The device disintegrated from the inside out, and a shock wave like a giant wave exploded instantly.
The shield protecting the outer field was pushed up by the plasma storm and swelled up.
Fortunately, the mechanical sage controlling the shield reacted in time and overloaded the shield before the explosion, otherwise everyone present would have been killed.
After a long while, the bright light and vibration subsided.
The spire was reduced to ashes, leaving a huge crater in the ground around it, with charred marks everywhere.
The shield device crackled and popped, eventually coming to a halt amidst a burst of sparks, and the shield force field dissipated.
"Damn it! It's all your fault! Couldn't you have checked the accelerator parameters a few more times?!"
"You are fully responsible for this accident! We spent three months preparing diligently, and all we got in return was a huge explosion!"
"I...I...I..." The mechanical sage, having made a mistake, was speechless, the logic circuits in his head buzzing.
“Enough.” Rand, gripping the Om Messiah Axe, stood on high ground, looking down at the restless crowd below:
"Cracking alien technology is an arduous task, and failure is inevitable. Ohm Messiah's wrath means the error isn't limited to the particle cyclotron module. Clean up the scene and look for clues. I... sigh, I have to go report our progress to His Majesty."
Everyone fell silent, no longer speaking, and lowered their heads to use scanners to search for valuable fragments and debris.
Rand rode in an anti-gravity vehicle and flew toward the golden gate.
Constantine Waldo, commander of the Imperial Guard, was waiting at the gate.
"Rand, failed again?"
"Yes, my lord, as you have surely seen, cracking the Internet Gate access technology is fraught with difficulties. If possible, I hope Your Majesty can grant us more time. The number of personnel should also be increased by at least double."
Rand and Waldo walked side by side toward the golden gate, their calm tones revealing a hint of frustration.
This was the first time he, who considered himself a genius, had stumbled several times in a row while working on cracking a new alien technology.
"It's rare to find something in this world that can actually make you feel so down," Waldo joked, then suddenly changed the subject:
"I have good news for you. His Majesty has found you some technological data from the Eldar. I'll take you there now to verify its authenticity."
"Eldar technology data? Is it related to network access technology?" Rand asked excitedly.
"Yes."
Rand was about to burst into laughter when he suddenly stopped, his expression turning serious as he asked:
"Why would the Eldar be willing to share their network technology with us? This doesn't seem like their style."
Waldo's smile faded, and a shadow of gloom appeared on his gleaming forehead:
"Due to the Eldar's mistake, the Imperium suffered heavy losses in a foreign war. Four Primarchs were killed, and more than half a million Space Marines perished."
Rand paused, staring at Waldo in shock, and asked in a trembling voice:
"Really?"
"Well, that's absolutely true."
Rand asked:
"Since this is an external war, who are our enemies? Chaos Orcs? Or some kind of powerful alien?" Waldor replied in a deep voice:
"It was the Palu Orcs. They detonated an old star, triggering a supernova explosion. At the cost of damaging over three hundred of their own warships, they destroyed twelve hundred Imperial warships. The Eldar's prophetic abilities may have foreseen this supernova explosion, and to appease us, they are willing to share some of their Netway technology."
Rand was speechless.
His logic circuit can calculate a result in 1 second.
This battle wiped out the productivity of Mars and several forging worlds accumulated over the past decade, and trillions of Throne Coins were destroyed by a supernova explosion.
The conflict between the Palu orcs and the Empire will be one of eternal enmity.
But here's the question: why did the Empire suddenly clash with the Palu Orcs?
Rand pondered the question before asking it.
Waldo replied calmly:
"Because they assassinated Makado. We held a state funeral two weeks ago. I didn't invite you because your experiment was at a critical stage."
"What?! Makado is dead?!" Rand's heart pounded. "Have the Paru orcs gone mad? Why would they assassinate Makado?"
“Because…” Waldo paused for a moment, then suddenly remembered that the Palu orcs had not actually assassinated Makado; it was a fact he had fabricated to incite the Empire’s anger towards the Palu orcs.
If we continue, there's a high chance that saying more will lead to more mistakes, and Rand will discover something amiss.
Waldo thought for a moment, then said:
"The specific reasons are complicated. Let's go verify the blueprints first."
"Oh, okay." Rand noticed Waldo's hesitant expression but didn't pay much attention to it.
The two passed through the golden gate, past the golden throne, and arrived at a spacious reception room.
A group of clowns are waiting here.
Perhaps because they felt guilty, they did not show any anger despite waiting for quite a while, and were instead very gentle with Waldo and Rand.
The pain that Rand felt for the Empire’s heavy losses was lessened by the large barrel of scrolls placed on the table.
The more he read, the more excited and engrossed he became; time flew by as he read Rand.
Two hours later, Rand finished reading all the materials and, using his powerful memory, memorized all the knowledge.
He closed his eyes, reorganized the knowledge in his mind, and compared it with his research results.
Another hour passed, and Rand suddenly opened his eyes, his eyes filled with joy:
"I know what's going on! I have to go try it now!"
"Wait, Rand," Waldo hurriedly called out to the Great Sage who was about to leave the room, "Are these documents authentic?"
Rand stopped and thought for a moment before saying:
"Give me some time so I can replicate the experimental steps in the materials. If the experiment is successful, it means the materials are authentic."
Waldo gestured to the clowns, "Are you all alright?"
The leader of the clowns was a theater troupe director, who gave an elegant bow:
"No problem, we'll follow your arrangements. We've come with full sincerity."
Rand immediately ran away, calling for an anti-gravity vehicle to come and pick him up.
With the technical documentation in hand, replicating a web access device becomes much simpler.
In the blink of an eye, three days had passed.
With 200% enthusiasm, Rand's team built a brand-new web access device in three days, and the clowns in the palace waited for him for three days.
Before the device was put into trial operation, Rand invited the clown to come and observe.
The starter was triggered, the source energy module self-test passed, the particle acceleration module self-test passed, the directional lasing module self-test passed…
The transition from B1 to Z10 in the self-test code was as smooth as drinking water.
With the final self-test completed, the device officially enters the activation state.
At this point, most of the mortal researchers and mechanical sages present had relaxed.
The device accumulates energy through slight vibrations.
When the energy reading pointer reached the green mark, Rand gestured to the mechanical sage beside the control panel.
"Clap."
Press the switch.
The metal sphere at the top of the spire began to release ball lightning, and the arc condensed into a bright ray under the constraint of the force field.
"Om——"
The beam of light traveled tens of millions of kilometers and landed precisely on the gate of the network, slowly opening the door to another network space.
Outside of Karasta, the environment was a vacuum, with extremely low laser attenuation and no air to transmit the deep rumble of the door opening. Yet, everyone was still filled with excitement, as if they could hear an ancient and distant bell ringing in their ears.
"Success!"
"Hahaha!"
"We made it!"
“Praise be to Om Messiah!”
The crowd cheered and jumped for joy, and the jubilant atmosphere lingered for a long time.
"Today's experiment is worthy of being recorded in the annals of the human empire," Waldo commented, hands on his hips, a look of delight spreading across his usually stern face.
Rand, on the other hand, remained relatively calm.
He smiled as he reviewed the data records and discovered some minor, insignificant errors:
"Lord Waldo, the experiment was a success, but some details need further modification. I believe the technical data provided by our allies is genuine and without any flaws or omissions."
Waldo turned to look at the clown behind him:
"Thank you all, I'll take you back."
"No need to trouble you, we brought a teleportation beacon."
The troupe leader took out a crystal that shimmered with seven colors and bid farewell to Waldo and the others. He then led the group to an open space and opened a portal to the Black Library.
After the Eldar left, the atmosphere at the scene became even more intense.
Rand said:
"My lord, I plan to conduct several experiments today, which require repeatedly opening the Webgate. I've heard that demons frequently appear in the Webgate. Please send some warships and Space Marines to prevent demons from infiltrating Karasta while the gate is open."
"No problem." Waldo nodded slightly and pushed through the noisy crowd to leave.
The warships and Titans arrived at the scene together, along with a significant number of Faith Guardians and Space Marines.
After ensuring everything went smoothly, Rand calmed everyone down and immediately began the second experiment.
As usual, a self-test is performed first, followed by the activation device.
This time, Rand astutely noticed that the self-check process took 3 seconds longer than before.
This was an acceptable margin of error, and Rand paid it no mind.
The second experiment ended successfully, and everyone celebrated again, but the excitement had faded somewhat.
Then came the third, the fourth, the fifth…
After conducting six experiments in a row, Rand, who was closely monitoring the data, couldn't help but let out a soft "hmm," feeling that something was not quite right.
"Why does the second coefficient of the Acubieri metric collapse while the first coefficient expands? The cylindrical cavity compressibility of the nanocavity hasn't changed, yet the reading of the negative energy field has increased?! What's going on?... Could it be that some parameter of the cylindrical cavity has undergone a change that is undetectable in the experiment? Hmm, that must be it. I need to use a Casimir cavity to test the stability of the nanocavity module."
Rand, deep in thought, gave the order:
“Reduce the size of the Casimir cavity from 12μm to 7μm, apply appropriate pressure, and conduct another experiment.”
"Yes, my lord."
After the experimental parameters were adjusted and the self-test process was completed, the network access device was activated.
The scene that followed filled everyone with terror.
The device, which had been operating stably, suddenly began to spew out thick black smoke.
"Bang! Bang!"
A deafening explosion rang out, and a gust of wind swept across the entire area.
A mechanical sage responsible for monitoring environmental readings exclaimed in surprise:
"Damn it! The subspace energy reading has suddenly broken through the Alpha Plus level! We...we seem to have accidentally created a subspace rift!!!"
The chaotic light unique to the subspace shone from the crack in the device, illuminating everyone's pale faces.
